Antimicrobial and Antifungal Care

ZYMOX empowers pet parents with patented formulations of natural enzymes to help treat chronic infections in dogs, cats and horses. Their products are formulated to be safe to use on any age pet. ZYMOX packs a potent antimicrobial punch that targets the source of infections—bacteria and fungus(including yeast) to provide therapeutic relief, care, protection and prevention, without any antibiotics or harsh chemicals. Proudly made in the USA and endorsed by TICA (The International Cat Association).

Committed to Healthy Ears, Skin and Coat, and Smiles

To ensure overall health from snout to tail on all four-legged pals, Zymox has developed products that are specially formulated for all the areas that commonly need infection relief, like the ears, teeth and gums, and skin and coat.

Ear Care Solutions

Effective, non-toxic solutions with special enzymes and mild cleansers to keep ears clean and fresh, and combat microbes that can cause ear infections.

Oral Care Solutions

Brushless solutions with unique enzymes to dissolve plaque and prevent its buildup, boost natural "good bacteria," and protect against gum disease to keep kitty and doggy smiles healthy.

Skin and Coat Health

Topical sprays and shampoos for dogs, cats and horses that form a powerful protective barrier against minor skin inflammations from bacteria and fungi, while cleaning and conditioning the coat—with some formulas utilizing hydrocortisone.

100% Safe, Gentle and Easy

Because Zymox formulas are made with 100% naturally derived enzymes from dairy, they are safe for anytime use, both for immediate soothing relief and to prevent infections. The powerful enzymes work to eliminate problem single-celled organisms such as bacteria, fungi and yeast, while leaving healthy cells untouched. This means no irritations for your pal!

Enzyme-Based and Antibiotic-Free

Zymox products use a patented, gentle formulation that combines three potent, naturally occurring enzymes—lactoperoxidase, lysozyme and lactoferrin—that are sourced from milk products. These enzymes are proven to work together to eliminate the source of infection on your pet, without any toxins or antibiotics that can irritate or cause antibiotic resistance.

About ZYMOX

Zymox was founded in 1998 by Pamela Bosco, who sought to change the way that people treated and managed ear, oral and skin infections with a safer alternative to antibiotics. Enlisting the help of her brother—a scientist that developed the enzyme technology in Biotene—Bosco formulated a powerful enzyme-based solution to help treat infections in dogs, cats and horses with no toxins, chemicals or antibiotics. Committed to keeping all four-legged pals healthy, they offer USA-made and sourced products to treat, soothe and protect against bacterial and fungal infections gently and 100% naturally.

Can I use this before use with the Zymox Plus or the original zymox Otic enzymatic solution? Will it affect the way the other products work?

This Worked for My Cat

I wrote a review earlier and Chewy wouldn't let it post...probably because I named all the medications that did not help my cat(?) Maybe you aren't allowed to mention

I wrote a review earlier and Chewy wouldn't let it post...probably because I named all the medications that did not help my cat(?) Maybe you aren't allowed to mention other medications by name? Anyhow...trying this again...I can tell you I had FIVE different vets examine my cat - two 'mobile vets', then a 'regular' vet, then the VCA/emergency room, and finally an allergy specialist (recommended by the vet at the VCA, who was great). Each of these vets prescribed something different. The specialist provided four additional, different medications plus a cleaner. Nothing, nothing, nothing was working (and/or had such side effects such as: making my cat fall over (literally could not stand up) and giving him a bloody nose). These mediations included three different steroids which I'm apparently not allowed to name. In any case, out of sheer desperation, I hit every cat forum I could find and someone mentioned this...found all the good reviews here...didn't believe them, so I called Zymox to understand why this might work when other things haven't...they told me they couldn't speak to what I tried, but that this product just basically won't let bacteria grow. The agent sounded so convinced himself(!) that it would work, that I decided to try it. He also told me that if it didn't work, I could just send it back to Zymox for a full refund..... I told the agent I planned to buy everything all at once, rather than pay three shipping charges - the itch spray (my cat was also itchy) this cleaner, and also the gel version so I could try them all and figure out what worked...he said this is no problem, you can return whatever doesn't work(!) So that is exactly what I did. I tried this first. I did not pour it into his ear as they suggest as my cat has very sensitive ears. I just got a half a cotton ball good and wet, gently wiped inside his ear and deliberately let it kind of drip in his ears a bit. This of course led to some head shaking.....and that went on, off-and-on for a good part of the day....but by the next morning no head-shaking, no pawing, no itching. It was as if everything turned off. I couldn't believe it. I've been using it to clean his ears twice a week ever since and he hasn't had another infection. It's still unbelieveable to me that it was so easy to solve this problem and I wish I hadn't put my cat through all those stressful visits and medications that didn't work. I hope it helps your cat too!

Finally she stopped scratching her ear.

My Siberian Husky had been scratching her ear for a month, even after a visit to her Vet Office, a course of ear drops to cure her yeast infection and another brand of ear cleaner. Needless to say she runs away from me when she sees me approaching with a bottle and cotton balls. The first application of Zymox she gave me the usual reaction of trying to hide under the couch (she's too large), burying her head in a chair cushion ( I found her) and scooting across the rug on her left ear (I laughed) . I was able to use the Zymox as directed, much to her disgust, and after a gentle massage of both ears, she shook her head and shared some of the Zymox with me, although not in my ears. BUT, she stopped scratching her left ear and didn't start fussing with her right ear. Now she lets me use the Zymox on a regular basis and her ears both look clean and the fur in her left ear she had scratched off is growing back as clean and white as her right ear.

Our 11 year old Beagle, Hunter, has had terrible ear problems all of his life. We've tried all kinds of ear washes and solutions, prescription drops, and ear wipes, to no avail. His ears were constantly red, and stinky, even bloody from him scratching. And the yucky brown stuff I'd clean out of them, so gross. I saw the reviews for this and decided to give it a try. This is the ONLY product that has EVER WORKED! My only regret is that Hunter has suffered for so long before I found this! His ears haven't looked this good, ever! He's not digging at them constantly, and he smells a lot better! We could not be happier! I'm not one to usually write reviews, but I do read them. This product has amazed me so much, I had to write one. I hope it helps someone else get relief for their dog!

This helped my CAT after MONTHS of other medications

I don't see many cat reviews, so wanted to add my own in case it helps anyone else who has gone through what we have. For close to three months I've been trying

I don't see many cat reviews, so wanted to add my own in case it helps anyone else who has gone through what we have. For close to three months I've been trying to resolve my cat's itchy ears / head shaking. He's been seen by five vets. Here's what we tried: 1. Prednisone - Made him completely lethargic - and didn't work. 2. New Vet: Tresaderm for 7 days. On the fourth night, my cat was falling over and couldn't stand up. 3. Vet number three - injection of covenia (antibiotic) and suggested rinsing the ears with saline every 3-4 days to help gently keep the debris down...it didn't. 4. Next up: Palm Beach VCA/emergency room...prescribed marbofloxacin (antibiotic) for thirty days in addition to a short course of fluconazol (identified a yeast infection)...and urged me to take him to a specialist to determine what to do long-term. 5. And now for the specialist - She increased the dose of the marbofloxacin and added surlolan drops/morning, florfenical drops/evening for the yeast infection. Talk about a lot of drugs..... which didn't work. So then she prescribed dexamethasone (another steroid).....about a week after, my cat finally seemed to be getting better. Then the nosebleeds started. Apparently a side effect of the dexamethasone. As you can imagine, throughout this time period I found myself crying on more than one occasion. :( I have a follow-up with the specialist the first week of May (three weeks from now) and knowing the next step is to give his head a CT scan (which is a ton of x-ray/radiation by the way) and most likely another round of some toxic medication that doesn't work...... I started to scour the web....and found Zymox....I was totally skeptical. But I ordered everything - literally - the cleanser, the solution, with and without the cortisone, and the spray (oh yeah, during the dexa methasone phase, he started rabidly itching the side of his neck.....new problem!) .....I called Zymox and asked where to start. Together, we decided to start small, with the cleanser and just see if this would help. If not, we would move up to the solution for 7 days and see if that cleared things up. .....I cleaned my cat's ears two days ago. As you might expect, there was vigorous shaking immediately after. What I did not expect, was my cat shook his head, on-and-off, all day. I called Zymox and they told me some cats do have sensitive ears, and this should stop within 24 hours. If not I should see a vet....good news, they were right. But still, yesterday a.m. there was a bit of head shaking. It became less and less throughout the day. Today, I honestly can't believe it, but no head-shaking this morning. All morning. He is now sleeping soundly like his old usual self. It's still early days of course, and I'll update my review if anything changes, but I have not seen this version of my cat for months. I do want to mention - that first day, with the head-shaking going on non-stop...that was really tough. I had some left-over buprenorphine from a recent plane trip (prescribed for anxiety because he didn't do well with gabapentin...) ....and I took one of those 'syringes' and put the teensiest drop of buprenorphine in some liquid from a can of cat food and let him eat that. (they tell you that you have to squirt this in the mouth....but I've learned as long as you put it in liquid, it gets to where it needs to go...though when he had teeth removed, for which he also got buprenorphine, I used it exactly as prescribed...wouldn't take a chance with that...held his head, squirted it in his mouth.) ...but for this, where it's hard to know if it's pain or just discomfort, again, a teensy-weensy drop of buprenorphine in some cat food liquid....and in about ten minutes he was stretching out his legs and purring. SO....the only reason I can't give five stars is that first day is tough if your cat has sensitive ears. And if so, you may want to ask your vet for a prescription of buprenorphine (or if it works for you, gabapentin) both of which are pain relievers, just to get thru the first day. I was so glad I had some on hand. At any rate, If this continues to work, honestly, it is such a God-send and I can't believe it has practically no side effects compared to every other drug we've used. I feel your pain - truly - if you've been through anything like what we have. But I hope the above will help!!! Good luck!

My 17 year old chihuahua/maltese mix has never had any problems with her ears until last year I noticed that she had a waxy build-up and also her ears were a little smelly. She had a check-up scheduled at the vets anyway so I asked her about her ears. She said that they weren’t infected they just needed to be cleaned so when I got home I looked for an ear cleanser that had good reviews and found this. It works great! I put it in her ear and rub the base of her ears gently and then let her shake the excess out. I then take a nice, soft tissue that I’ve folded over a few times and wipe up the excess on her ear flaps and around her ears. She’s not overly thrilled with having it done but it doesn’t hurt her at all and only takes a minute. When I notice her ears are starting to get the brown, waxy build-up I use the ear cleanser 2-3 times a week until they’re cleared up. I usually only have to use it for a week or two.
