I love everything about Chewy (and always will), but the gift card options are a bit perplexing. It seemed like the only way to send a gift card was via email - which is fine but reading the reviews didn't seem like it worked very well. After ordering recieved an email saying that it didn't go through and to call to finish the order. Called and everything was fine - until a few days before the email was to be delivered for Christmas, stating it could no longer be sent and that I would be refunded. I was disappointed because this seemed like the best way to get some gift items for someone who could use some pet supplies that they wanted/needed. And it left me scrambling to get try and find another gift at the last minute. A physical gift card would ensure that the card was received and could be used.

Egift card limit and customer service.

My goddaughter has 3 dogs and for Christmas each year I give her a gift card for them. This year she picked Chewy. My issue has two parts, limits on e-gift cards and customer service. Short version is Chewy has a limit of $500 on e-gift cards and I wanted more than that. Customer service informed of that my first order was cancelled because of the limit. I asked “if I ordered 2 e-gift cards 24 hours apart, would that work”, they said yes. Tried that, first one went through. Next day ordered the second one, it would not go through. Contacted customer service again, explained the issue and was told the limit was $500 per email address. The representative did offer to try to get management to ok the second e-gift card but by this time I was so aggravated, I told her no, “I’ll just write a check and my goddaughter can cash it and use it anywhere she wants.” First your customer service needs further training on e-gift cards and aren’t you in business to make money, why the $500 limit?

Bad Gift Card experience

I sent my employee a gift card to their work email. It could not be located in spam, junk, or quarantine. I called and asked if I could have the gift card sent to a different email address. I was told No. You can only cancel, your card will be reimbursed and then you place another order. So I did that. The refund never came. I called back and was told the refund did not go through. I asked if it was my card issue or Chewy. They said Chewy. I was told they could possibly send me a check, I said okay. Eventually they called me back, and said, we cannot issue a refund or send a check, but we can send the gift card to a different email address. Wait what?????????? That is what I wanted to do in the first place and was told no. Since I had already purchased a replacement, I didn't want to do that but gave in and had them send to a different email address. Win for Chewy.. they got more money out of me. I no longer have any pets so I couldn't simply put on my account. And pretty sure I will find different gifts going forward to pet owners.

I bought my friend a gift certificate on chewy.com for his birthday. I did not know it was gonna turn into such a fiasco three maybe emails maybe 4. Three phone calls all because I haven’t purchased anything in a while and they wanted to verify everything but each one of those should’ve fixed the problem it didn’t and my gift did not get to them on time all because they wanted to verify me now wouldn’t my credit card verify me Ifeel like it was very difficult and not something I ever want to do again for a gift I would give it less stars but chewy is a great product and I don’t wanna bring the ratings down. There’s nothing wrong with my credit card. There was nothing wrong with my address or anything. They just couldn’t get it in the system for some reason.

A relative ordered an e gift card for me. I never received any email from Chewy with information on how to use it. I have the order number and amount of the gift card, but Customer Service refuses to even look it up. I asked for the email to be sent again but customer service refused to do that too. The recipient is not allowed to access that information, so the e gift card is useless. I asked for the name and email address of a manager of customer service so I could file an official complaint. They refused to provide me with that information as well. Apparently they do not want a customer to be able to officially complain when an order is not received. So if someone orders an e gift card and the recipient never receives it, the money is gone. This sounds like a scam to me.

Chewy’s once again showed that they are committed to excellent customer srrvice. I ordered the e-card for my cousin as a way to welcome her 2 new kittens to the family. I don’t know if my cousin left out something in her email address or either I didn’t ’t hear her correctly. In any event the e-card was never received by her. Chewy’s automatically made good on the e-card I spent $50 for by issuing a new -e-card which was safely received by my cousin. I am pleased to say that she recently spent the entire $50 on various Chewy’s merchandise for the kittens. Keep up the good work.

I was concerned as the gift card was for my 82 year old father who isnt very computer save. But I couldnt find a gift card at the store. I figured I would just have to help him. A few days passed and I was like hey did you get the email from chewy for the gift card. He was like yes i already applied it to my account and placed the order.

I bought several chew gift cards with multiple visa gift cards. Here’s what happens if you get an email that they need to verify your information: your account is locked. You email them back saying you want to verify. They email you 5 or 6 questions. You answer correctly. They review, send the gift card and unlock your account. Whole process takes about 12 hours for me. Happened several times, the same way each time. I’m super thankful they accept my cards, but it’s a little annoying that I have to wait to get approval and can’t order anything else until it’s resolved. I would give 5 stars if they didn’t lock the account every time.

This is the 2nd time I placed 2 orders back to back. I'm great with shipping and delivering at the same time. HOWEVER please put each order in its own box! When combined into 1 box, it is TOO HEAVY. I really don't want to have to place orders on separate days just to avoid having them combined into a single box. Thank you in advance, Lynn

Chewy made it nearly impossible to purchase- Awful customer service experience

Chewy lost a loyal customer with this. I ordered this gift card to be sent to a friend as a congratulations only then to get an email saying the order did not go

Chewy lost a loyal customer with this. I ordered this gift card to be sent to a friend as a congratulations only then to get an email saying the order did not go through and that I needed to call or email to confirm my account before they could finalize the purchase. I called the number provided and the representative sent me a link to follow to verify my account and then said everything was good to go. However, I did not receive any confirmation that the gift card was emailed to the recipient. So then I emailed Chewy asking them to confirm that it has been sent. They instead request the same information again claiming that can't do anything until I confirm my identity and account again. This very much felt like phishing since they were asking me to confirm the card number, the name on the account, etc. So I had to call AGAIN to see what we could do. After being transferred to a manager they finally seemed to be able to send the card- but after demanding that I provide information that I had already provided multiple times. Ridiculous.
