Does this bulb also provide adequate heat for bearded dragons? Or do we need a separate lamp for this?

Answer by ChewyAug 10, 2018
This product is suitable for bearded dragons and the lamp should be placed 20 inches from your animals basking site.

How long does this bulb last? How often should it be replaced?! Thanks!

Answer by ChewyDec 22, 2018
T8 fluorescent light bulbs typically have a rated lifespan of 20,000 hours to 24,000 hours.

Is this bulb 24 inches or does it fit a 24 inch fixture (bulb being 22 in)? I have a 30 in fixture that needs a 22 inch bulb.

Answer by ChewyJan 25, 2019
The 24 inch lamp will be 24 inches in length, the 18 inch lamp will be 18 inches in length.

If I order a 24in fixture will that fit a 22in uvb bulb

Answer by ChewyOct 21, 2020
If you have a T8 Reptisun Terrarium hood 24 inches then only the 24 inch T8 bulb will fit in it. The T5 HO bulbs which are 22 inches need to be used in the T5 HO fixture which can be 24 inches or 30 inches.

I was needing a UVB light for my Bearded Dragon and this one was recommended by the reptile group I am in. This is a great light and has a long life to it. The T8 repti sun is really bright. You can place this light on a timer if you only want it run during the day and off at night. I leave mine on most of the time because my bearded dragon has a hide to sleep in. He does like to lay under this light along with his heat lamp. A great light to help your barded dragon healthy.

Sudden price increase?

I've been getting these lights auto-shipped every 6 months through Chewy for years now. The last time I ordered this light in November of 2024, it was about $27. I saw the charge on my credit card for this current autoship and it was $57?? Not sure if this is because of tariffs or what, but I would have appreciated Chewy notifying customers or at least flagging somewhere such a drastic price hike. I will be looking to see if I can find this elsewhere for cheaper.

These work amazing. I have a beardie with mbd and I have to say just a week in these lights and her attitude is even better than with other brand. Just FYI. I was doing research on mbd and a lot of people didn't know that the uvb has to be inside the cage if you have a screen top otherwise that cuts the uvb in half and they only get 50% of it. Not good! That raises there chances on getting mbd and trust me they don't need that!

If you own a beardie then you NEED a uvb bulb. This one works perfectly and I've used Reptisun 10.0 for 10 years and my two decade old beardies are still kicking and full of energy! Chewy sends it bubble wrapped and I haven't had any problems with bulbs breaking in the mail.

Description Correction

The Description states this bulb can be place on top of the screen. That info is false. This bulb is a T8 and needs to be mounted inside the tank. Only T 5 bulbs

Always make sure to have some form of UVB light for your reptile, as it is critical for their health! ZooMed is my current go-to for UVB florescents, at least until Arcadia becomes more commonly available. When replacing these bulbs, which you should do every 6-12 months as the UVB producing part of the light burns out over time, make sure to triple check the length and socket size of your lamp, as it is super easy to get mixed up and purchase the wrong one.

LOVE this bulb for my bearded dragons! I buy several when they go on sale for about $18 a piece. Need to change them out every 6 months or so with bearded dragons

LOVE this bulb for my bearded dragons! I buy several when they go on sale for about $18 a piece. Need to change them out every 6 months or so with bearded dragons because the amount of emission goes down at or possibly before this point. This and the Arcaidia are the best on the market and will be buying many more in the future.

UVB good, UVA not so good.

The UVB output of the Zoo Med T8 Reptisun is good enough for a 40gal tank, but the UVA (visible light) is pretty lacking. You definitely need a secondary light

The UVB output of the Zoo Med T8 Reptisun is good enough for a 40gal tank, but the UVA (visible light) is pretty lacking. You definitely need a secondary light to make it bright in the tank. I was hoping to use this light as a UVB and a UVA source so that I could run a heating element without the yellow light coming from it. If you are looking for just a UVB source, then this is a good one. Just keep in mind that the UVA isn't so bright.
