Is this sand dust free? I’m considering buying it for my dwarf hamster. I see in the reviews two others said it was great for their hamsters too, but I’d like to make sure it is dust free.

This all-natural substrate, made from very fine quartz desert sand, is completely free of any chemicals or dyes. Sand stimulates natural digging and burrowing behavior and is an excellent egg-laying medium for reptiles such as Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Scorpions, Sand Boas, and others.

Is this dust free? Is there calcium added?

The Reptisand is an all-natural sand source; it does not contain calcium. As sand, there will be dust present.

Perfect terrain for desert reptile

I layered the bottom of the tank with maybe 1/4" moist reptisoil, covered with the entire bag of sand, maintained about 25% humidity until it got mixed when I upgraded

I layered the bottom of the tank with maybe 1/4" moist reptisoil, covered with the entire bag of sand, maintained about 25% humidity until it got mixed when I upgraded tanks. Sufficient for a 36" long 12" wide aquarium. Little shallow for a 36x18. No problems with feeders burrowing.

Hamsters need access to sand to remove snd distribute the oils in their fur, being desert animals. This brand is coarser than niteangel but I feel niteangel does a slightly better job. Just using this to top off the niteangel sand since it's cheaper. Natural quartz sand. Never let me down.

Watch out for splinters

The soil has like mulch pieces in it or something. When I put it in my lizards tanks I got splinters so I went through and tried to get all the pieces out of the

The soil has like mulch pieces in it or something. When I put it in my lizards tanks I got splinters so I went through and tried to get all the pieces out of the soil before putting it in their tanks. They both seem unhappy, and it has been about a month since I put it in there. I thought they needed to adjust but I think they truly just dont like it. On top of that, my leopard gecko got what I believe to be a splinter in his eye. I'm taking him to the vet soon.

Excellent sand

So far this is the best sand for hamsters my baby loves it. We changed her bath every other day for her to have a place clean and ready to dig.
