I was worried my RES wouldn’t eat this food but there was no hesitation at all! He’s still a pretty smallish turtle, three inch shell, but doesn’t seem to have a problem swallowing these bigger pellets. I’m glad I have a variety of different pellets and food I can give him now. I recommend this for its price and quantity.

Believe me, I have given these two lettuce, blueberries, dandelions and shirmp - they absolutely go bonkers for Zoo Med Turtle Food. Squirt and DiCaprio, our two red eared sliders, will follow the scooper across the side of the their tank and race to see which side I will feed them from! The *LOVE* it. Although one of my turtles has difficulty breaking the pieces down. He is still very young and fairly small, but the packaging says it's for turtles that are 3-6 inches in shell length and he is well beyond that.

This turtle food is high in protein which juvenile aquatic turtles need as part of their diet while in their growing stages. It's also natural and not formulated

My African Sideneck turtle loves this food. I thought I try the larger size, but she doesn't like the big pellets only the smaller ones.

Pieces are too large for smaller turtles
This food is described to be for turtles 2-6 inches however the pellets are are entirely too large for smaller turtles. I have a painted turtle between 3 and 4 inches

I have a painted turtle between 3 and 4 inches in length and he struggles to try to eat them then he finally gives up on them. I have also noticed that once they are soft enough for him to tear apart he spits it right back out making a huge mess in his tank. I'm sure the quality is great but the size of the pieces are too big for turtles on the smaller end of the recommended size range which is the reason for the 2 stars.
