After doing a lot of research and trial and error, Ive discovered Ziwi peak is one of the best toppers for my 5 year old German shepherd. I use it for meals mixed with Hills Science Diet and as treats and oh boy are they high value! My Luna loves it and her stools are are firm and she has very little gas and her coat looks great. It's pricey but worth it if it means my baby is healthy!

Our dog Kadan, was having digestion issues, lost 12 lbs in one month, and lost a noticeable amount of muscle mass. This was very alarming because Kadan is a lab and labs love their food. Finishing his meals wasn't the problem. We tested for worms, negative, but dewormed him anyway (on the advice of my vet). Still little recovery. Then my vet suggested an all Lamb diet. Kadan was on a home cooked lamb diet for 1.5 months still little recovery. Then I found ziwi peak. Kadan ate it for less than 2 weeks and I saw remarkable muscle mass recovery. My husband even commented on how fast Kadan regained his muscle and how soft his coat is. Kadan finishes every nibble and does a little happy wiggly dance after each meal. He is more playful and has more energy!!!! We are VERY pleased with this product and will now integrate into our 2nd dogs feeding program. Thank you Ziwi Peak for being the ONLY company that has an ALL LAMB based diet(essentially being a limited ingredient) that includes ORGANS and eliminates any FILLERS!! thank you thank you thank you

She pushes her homemade food aside, to eat the lamb air dried, first! At first sight she wasn’t sure and normally prefers only her homemade food. Which I painstakingly make every 3-4 weeks (as I freeze individually packaged meals) and the cost, effort is high! I use ground lamb ( which has doubled in price from 5 yrs ago (when I started making it) from $4.99 to $8.99! Now this makes me rethink the making it, process! Although I think she is healthy and want her to get all the best nutrients. Although this is extremely expensive, it is a great quality. I started her on their freeze dried and she prefers this air dried, it has more weight to it. Not sure if this will last long. She gets a heaping 1/4 cup with her 1/2 cup homemade food. She’s 20# active and healthy. Oh and after using the freeze dried, I’ve noticed her coat looks shinier and she likes this one more!

I transitioned my German Shepherd pup from Orijen to Ziwipeak at around 8 months of age. Looking at the cost of Ziwipeak vs other raw, my calculations showed that it was cheaper than Primal and Stellas. I also enjoyed not having to deal with thawing and messiness of raw. During the first month on Ziwipeak, I noticed that he was not gaining weight so I increased his feedings. Stools were small and had minimal if any smell which was an added plus. I was up to almost 8 scoops of Ziwipeak per day and thought that this can't be right... ... At 8 scoops per day...this was no longer a cheaper alternative to Primal or Stellas. I've purchased, beef, lamb, venison, and venison/fish. He loves it and don't deny that this is a great product. When I measured the weight of the scoop, I only got 1.4 oz and the bag reports that it should be 2oz -- 30% below what is advertised. I asked our local rep and they reported was that each scoop was 2oz. Only after further independent testing did Ziwipeak finally confirm/admit that the scoops are not truly 2oz as reported on the bag. I am told that they will likely remove the scoops from the bag. False advertisement or honest mistake? I'll leave that for you to decide and suggest that you measure/weigh out what your dog requires. For the record, I still use Ziwipeak but am waiting to see how this plays out.

My picky toy poodle starts out loving any new food. She quickly changes and I'm stuck with 5 lbs of food she won't eat. I was very skeptical about Ziwipeak at first. It is rated by Dog Food Advisor as the best. I afford it by feeding once a day (the first feeding is a best rated dry food with a little broth). Don't over feed Ziwipeak. It's complete and very rich. Follow the instructions. Do not wet this food--it doesn't have to be rehydrated. Always have plenty of fresh water available. This is my fourth bag, and my little dog acts like it's new. Amazing! I have fed the venison and the lamb, but she doesn't care. I don't have to try to make it new to her. She cleans every morsel out of her bowl in less than five minutes. Stools are firm.

Sammy was very sick when we first got him as a puppy had to feed a special homemade diet of course with human grade food. Once he was better we tried to go back to dog food and he would literally starve himself. We went through hundreds of kinds and he only ate blue dry dog food for a week and again went back to not eating. We have now been feeding ziwipeak venison for 2 years and he loves it still. We have never switched flavors. For a small dog like sammy 12lbs it seems like it is expensive up front but compared to cans the cost is comparable $2 / day The dry blue was definitely cheaper at around 1.30/ day. Considering I love my dog like my child hes family....so worth it!

I have a 108 pound Long Coat Akita named Sophie, and a 100 pound Belgian Sheepdog named Massimo. They have always eaten a very high quality kibble/wet food, but when I introduced Ziwipeak ( any variety ) into their diet, they went crazy for this food !!! Sophie can be a finicky eater at times, but never with this. Having such large dogs, I can not afford to feed exclusively Ziwipeak, but I do add it to their regular kibble. Their fur feels like silk, literally, and their BM's are smaller and firmer. I honestly feel this is the best dog food out there, and the way my fur kids act when they even SEE the ziwipeak bag tells it all :)

I have a very sick little dog recovering from Leptospirosis and liver damage. She has been inappetent most of the long recovery period requiring some tube feeding. Got very picky about food items and would not eat most regular food. She needed a good dog food that was complete and with balanced dog nutrition. I finally discovered Ziwi, with its novel proteins like NZ green mussels, high-nutrient internal organs with a complete overall nutritional balance and she loved it. I could then mix it with other items, and she began feeding normally and with enthusiasm again.

First of all, VERY impressive and minimalist ingredient list. Lamb Meat, Liver, Tripe, Heart and Kidney, Chicory Inulin, Green-lipped Mussel, Fish Oil, Lecithin, Kelp, Vitamins and Minerals. These days even the higher end foods have like 20 ingredients, but the limited but excellent and highly nutrient ingredients in this food is hard to come by (although perhaps maybe a little *too* limited for long term feeding). It's too bad it has to be imported all the way from NZ, because that makes it more expensive. That's okay though because i don't feed this exclusively and it still ends up benefitting my dog. When my dog first started eating it he couldn't get enough, he acted like it was a whole bowl of treats, but after his 2nd bag he grew a little tired of it, that was when i was feeding him ZP almost exclusively (oh, and my dog is about 8lbs, so at 2.2lb bag lasted him maybe 3 weeks-ish). So now i just have a bag around and i feed him maybe 1 meal of ZP every 3 or 4 meals, or maybe a few meals in a week, so it's basically 25%-30% of his food intake. This makes feeding the ZP less expensive but he still benefits from this very well made, nutrient rich, healthy food. To be honest, i feel that feeding nothing but Ziwipeak would not be the best thing to do. All their dehydrated foods share the same limited ingredients other than the meat source, and since that basically includes only Chicory and Kelp, it just doesn't seem like a healthy varied diet. Maybe for 2 or 3 months, okay, but at some point a little variety in a diet seems necessary. Oh yeah, and Mr. Chewy's definitely has the best price on ZP.

My miniature poodle, Jean-Luc, is almost six years old and I've been looking for a non-canned dog food, he would relish, since he was eleven months old. No dog food received his approval before ZIWI Peak. He gets excited when I open the bag and to my delight, he actually gobbles it. As for me: I like the ingredients which are more dog-natural than peas, rice, corn, or sweet potatoes, etc. I also like that it's DEHYDRATED instead of COOKED. This process retains more of the natural nutrients. ZIWI Peak receives 10 Stars — 5 from me and, most importantly, 5 from Jean-Luc.
