Packaging not suitable for salmon oil - risk of safety issues
I ordered the 2-fl oz bottle, and when it arrived it was leaking from the bottle. I opened it and it still had the seal on it, but it was clearly compromised and
I ordered the 2-fl oz bottle, and when it arrived it was leaking from the bottle. I opened it and it still had the seal on it, but it was clearly compromised and still leaking from it. I reached out to chewy and they sent me a replacement super quickly which was awesome. Upon opening the package for the replacement, the replacement bottle has the exact same issue, safety seal on but still leaking. Chewy asked if I wanted another replacement or a refund, I selected refund due to a clear issue with packaging. I wasn't even able to give the product to my cat. Salmon oil can go rancid pretty quickly if exposed to air for too long. Not safe to feed your cat if it arrives leaking for a few reasons, but especially not being able to confirm how long it's been open and leaking for. I asked Chewy to give this feedback to Zesty Paws, so hopefully they look into creating safer packaging for their small bottles of salmon oil.

I have previously purchased a different brand. It worked well but was a larger container that took months to use. I primarily bought this because it was a smaller container. I think I'm just not understanding or doing the dosage properly, maybe. The pump is different than the other brand (obviously). The cats (four) seem to like it just as well as the other brand. BUT, within a week or so of switching to this my bigger cat developed (a new) hot spot. Now, his skin is terrible. Constantly dry and flaky. It's improved some with fish oil. I feel like this brand isn't quite doing as well as the other one. It might be the dosage tho, I'm not doing exact measurements to compare and decide. I'm taking part of the blame here but I feel if this was equal quality, the hot spot may not have happened. I gave 4 stars because it is better than nothing and because all four cats do like it. I'm not 100% sure if I'll but this brand again. I need to see if the other one has a smaller container than what I previously purchased. I don't feel like I wasted money by any means. There's too many variables to know exactly what went wrong here. The only thing I can recommend is try this brand if you think the ingredients, sourcing, ect fit with your needs.

Long story short - My beautiful dark-furred tortie cat was having some unsightly dandruff (despite getting very high quality fishy wet food and plenty of water!) I tried this on a whim and will continue to buy it. She gets one pump on her wet food each morning. I wouldn't say she *likes* the flavor per se, but she happily eats it with her wet food. I've noticed a 90% improvement in her dandruff. Note that she never had itch, discomfort, or health issues - this was purely cosmetic. NOTE: THIS NEEDS TO BE REFRIGERATED AFTER OPENING! The bottle says that WAY too small, so please refrigerate! I've also had a reallllly annoying issue with the pump leaking oil all over my fridge (defying gravity to leak while not being touched. gross!) It must have something to do with the temp change and slight pressure inside, so unscrewing the lid to make it not-totally-airtight has alleviated the issue. Just in case anyone else has an issue.

I tried a vetraseb spray that helped soothe the itchiness temporarily but it didn’t do anything to stop the problem. I figured this was an internal problem with my Banana and topical treatments wouldn’t do much. I decided to look into supplements because I myself have found supplements to help rid of some issues I was having so I thought maybe Banana was missing something in her diet. This salmon oil has helped her immensely, you can just tell by looking at the pictures. Her redness and constant itching were getting so bad that she was starting to get bald spots where the redness occurred the most. I’ve been giving this to her for almost 2 weeks now and she almost never scratches anymore, she’s not constantly licking and chewing on her paws, and doesn’t have bright red irritated patches on her skin. I’m glad this is working so far because I really don’t think a vet would’ve found a solution to her skin issues, they probably would’ve given her useless medication and I would’ve been stuck with an expensive vet bill.

I was shocked when I got the box and opened it, went back to the order history and noticed the image changed but not the page info. Pollock being the first ingredient on the back of the label indicates there is more pollock oil than salmon oil. My dog is sick. The vet recommended this brand of SALMON oil two years ago. He gets it daily and I would be more obliged to pay for the increase in price to maintain the quality of what he receives in each meal. I will have to look for another option to get him higher quality omega 3s.

My cats are free to eat whenever they want. I put 2 big tablespoons of the oil into about 4 cups of dry food and mix it up until all the food is coated. I do this for 2 bowls of food. After using a full bottle of the oil I noticed that Luna isn't dandruffy anymore and her sister and brothers have shiny, softer, fur. Also, they aren't shedding as much. I couldn't be happier with Zesty Paws.

My dog used to LOVE this!! The bottle always just said “Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil”. When my authorship arrived this month, I didn’t even think to look twice at the bottle. My dog was suddenly refusing to eat his food and getting diarrhea (he has a sensitive stomach), but he’d eat treats and if we hand fed him his food he’d eat it up. At first we thought maybe he was getting bored with his kibble so we tried giving him a little bit of a different blend with his regular food and he was skeptical and would just nose around and pick out random pieces to eat. When I went to go add some salmon oil this time, I noticed the bottle now said “Omega-3 Blend Pollock and Salmon”. I gave him his meal without any oil and sure enough he scarfed it down as quick as he could. Since we stopped giving him this new blend he eats normally again and he hasn’t had any stomach issues. I just wish I was notified that they’d be sending me a new product and changing the one I’d been using for 3 years.

One thing I can say about this company is everything I have tried from them I have instantly fallen in love with. This salmon oil is great for my furry friends simply because it supports joint function, great for their little heart, helps them produce a beautiful coat and healthy skin. It's made with all-natural ingredients, pure salmon oil. Not only does it make their fur shiny but also soft as a baby's bottom. I received this product in the mail it came UPS and it only took a couple of days to get to my door steps. It came in a 16 oz bottle with a pop-top dispenser and they also included a pump dispenser as seen in the picture below. It also needs to be frigerated. I immediately gave it to my two pit bulls and they loved it. I was worried at first because they are picky eaters but they loved it. Very simple to use. It provides a chart on the bottle of your pets specific needs also known as a weight chart. For my two dogs which are between 50-60 lbs, we apply three pumps to their dry food. With a slight shake or stir, they are gobbling it up before it hits the ground. The first thing we noticed was how much more they looked forward to feeding time. Second, after approximately 1 week, we noticed a great deal of shine in their coast. It was almost like their winter coat was coming in. This product defiantly helps support a healthy skin and coat. It goes without saying in this household our dogs are family. We trust giving them nothing but the best. Zesty Paws is a wonderful product made right here in the USA and use a good manufacturing practice (GMP) which consist quality. I sure hope you will try it, you will not be disappointed. Also a reminder this product is great for cats as well.

Ive been using this for almost two full weeks now and I havent had a problem with it so far! It came on time, nicely packaged, and looked exactly like the pictures online. It was HUGE which is awesome because I knew from previous experiences that I really like using salmon oil for my cat so this will last me for a long time. You only need one pump per feeding so I cant imagine Ill be running out of this any time soon. It smells the same as any other salmon oil weve used, not overpowering or unpleasant. I havent tasted it myself, but it must either be undetectable or taste good because my cat hasnt had any issues finishing her food! I love this because its good for her skin and coat. Its also supposed to help with internal health as well so thats awesome. Ive been letting my mom use some for her cat too because her cat is almost 13 years old and she says it helps with her joint pain as well. Plus they have less fur balls when I use this stuff long term so Im really happy with it and would definitely recommend for any cat or dog owners out there!
