Why is the dye transferring onto my cat from the rainbow, and how do I get it to stop?

How long does the rainbow toy last, how long does the catnip smell last,, can it be washed or will it lose its aroma

The smell can dissipate for us humans and we may not be able to smell the catnip’s usual minty, earthy aroma after awhile but the nepetalactone in the catnip can maintain its effectiveness for a long while, generally up to one year or longer.

I have a picky orange guy. This is by far his favorite toy and I have ordered it more than once. The material is thin enough that the catnip smell still entices him. The seams have held together despite his lengthy kick fights with it. It's big enough for him to hold with this 2 front paws while licking it and then kicking it with his hind feet. Like the slogan of a popular candy, we joke about him saying he's tasting the rainbow.

Both cats steer clear of it, could it be fumes from the dyes? It’s probably nothing but cat snobbism. The rainbow is now sitting between houseplants as statement decor.

Generally made of a durable fabric and always with a super potent smelling catnip, I really like this brand. Every now and again there is some poor stitching, as was the case with one of the two of these I purchased. Right out of the box there was about a 1/2 inch seam that is clearly going to start leaking catnip pretty soon after it is in play, but overall I really do like this brand and this toy.

We are on our fourth Rainbox!! We have had these for years! Still the same great durability and whatever catnip they put in it, is the cat’s meow!!! All my cats, and I have many, love this one the most, by far!! They all play with them so much that they get very gnarly looking after awhile but they do hold up great!! Whenever we get a new one, they all have to have a turn breaking it in! I buy these for gifts too and they are always a huge hit!

They broke it in less than 24hours

I know this is an easy fix but I kinda hoped it would have taken more than 8hours for them to break it. They definitely went nuts for it though.
