Is it safe for my cats to eat this as well?

The longevity of the bag depends on the daily feed recommended based on how often your ferret eats. The amount fed should be adjusted to maintain an ideal body weight. Do not overfeed, regardless of the pet's eagerness.

Could I feed my ferret just this and nothing else or would it need to have raw meat?

This is safe and suitable to be fed as a complete diet for ferrets, but it's still always advised to have fresh food and water available to your ferret.

The majority of ingredients used in Wysong products are raised/grown domestically and sold by U.S. suppliers. The venison meat used is supplied by an Australian source, and is completely free-range. The rabbit meat used originates from New Zealand. Since there are no domestic sources, all amino acids are manufactured in China. There is no data that any of these amino acids are toxic in any way if used in correct dosages.

So let me start with the food. The largest complaint I have seen is it giving diarrhea. I admit taking your ferrets off the garbage food they were probably raised on and feeding them the kind of food they need will be a major adjustment but mix it with old food for as long as it takes or even just continue mixing and it will absolutely be worth it! Their natural oder will nearly go away, their coats will become softer then you have ever seen it and they will just be happy and healthy ferrets! Then the company. I have been feeding this food for a while and I just happen to get a bag my boys didn't like for some reason. I have never had any issues with this food at all so I sent one email to Wysong simply asking if anything had changed in the food. I wasn't asking for a replacement or anything but they promptly answered my question and sent me samples to see if my boys would take it and when I let them know all was good they sent me a new bag of food. All I was asking for was an answer to a question and Wysong went out of their way to correct the most insignificant issue. I would 100% recommend this food and if you have ferrets you love this food will be the best thing you will ever do for them.

This food is far superior to ferret foods sold in pet stores. It has a much higher and better quality protein content that ferrets need. My 4 fuzzies do very well on this food and they have healthy, shiny coats. Prior to starting my oldest fuzzy on this food, his coat was lackluster and not very full. We saw positive changes within a couple of weeks on this food. Due to ferrets being finicky about food changes, we mix this with Orijen Cat & Kitten and Chicken Soup for the Soul Kitten Food. We do this just in case a food is no longer available, so we would be able to introduce a new food with familiar foods and avoid the fuzzies refusing to eat. If not for their finicky nature, I would solely feed them this food. Be careful when choosing this food - there is another formulation that is much richer and can cause digestive issues in some ferrets. This is the digestive support formula.

Ferret's being 'obligate' carnivores have no nutritional need for starch, or plant-based ingredients (No plant-based carbohydrates whatsoever). Feeding a kibble that has plant-based "filler" ingredients (like ANY grains, peas, potato, and other non-meat fillers or binders) negatively impacts their health over time. Sadly ferrets have very sensitive digestive systems, and are very prone to certain types of cancer(s) (insulinomas, adrenal, and lymphoma). For this reason plant-based foods should be avoided or limited as much as possible in their diet. This kibble is starch-free, has less than 3% carbohydrates (according to the company's dry matter analysis), is very high in crude protein (animal-based), with very little-to-no high oxalate ingredients. No other USA made "ferret" kibble comes close to this quality.

Im apart of a holistic ferret forum, and usually the group is all about raw feeding, but if your ferrets don't take to that, someone gave me a chart comparing all the kibbles known for ferrets, and this was at the very tippy top! And, it cost nearly the same as the Katee brand you get at pet stores (which was near the bottom; meaning it was one of the worst when it comes to protein %, grain free, etc). I do supplement with some salmon oil and bone powders. But other than that, this is the best! We obviously go hiking with our ferrets a lot, and this stuff packs well.

She had low to no energy. I had her Wellness CORE Grain Free Original then switched to Orijen Kitten and Cat kibble which was said to be really good but nothing has honestly helped Polly. After tons of research regarding ferret kibble (didn’t want to go down the raw diet road) I found that this brand has the correct amount of protein and protein sources as they are obligate carnivores. It contain minimal plant based ingredients that can cause digestive issues due to their fast metabolisms. I blend it with Orijen cat and kitten as a back up just in case one or the other becomes unavailable. Due to their imprinting on food at a young age, feeding a couple brands mixed works as a backup food source. It’s clean neat and not a mess like raw feeding. I supplement the kibble with the Wysong omega power. Just a pinch each feeding mixed in. And an occasional quail egg. She’s going 5 years strong and plays nearly just as hard as when she was a month old. Stools are tidy and consistent. Been using this product for many years and it has been a life saver for ease. One bag last between 3-5 months depending on the time of year. I highly recommend this if you want to avoid blending bones and organs in a food processor every week. The simplicity give me more time to interact with her when she’s out and about. Much less clean up as well.

His house was a complete mess for days and he was just anxious mess. I tried mixing it in slowly with his usual food, also to no avail. He would just eat around it. Lol!
