which size?

Is there a trick with screwing it together, and unscrewing it?

Answer by ChewySep 20, 2025
To put it together, just align the two halves and screw them together by hand, using light pressure. There’s no need to overtighten—just a snug fit will keep it secure for pups to enjoy. To open it, unscrew the halves by hand. If it ever feels stuck, gently twist back and forth rather than using force, to avoid any damage.

Is this made of safe, non-toxic materials?

Answer by ChewyApr 23, 2025
The Pupsicle is made from a non-toxic, BPA and Phthalate-free natural rubber.

How often can you give pups a Pupsicle treat?

Answer by ChewyJul 25, 2025

Impulse Buy That Became My and My Dog’s Favorite

My dog isn’t a big chewer, and she doesn’t really like the rubber/kong-type toys. I also didn’t understand how she would be able to eat anything through this toy

My dog isn’t a big chewer, and she doesn’t really like the rubber/kong-type toys. I also didn’t understand how she would be able to eat anything through this toy. However, she desperately needed an activity that would keep her busy longer than 10 minutes (we tried puzzles, snuffle mats, lick mats, frozen treats, etc.). The pupsicle keeps her busy for FORTY FIVE MINUTES, and she is obsessed with it! She’s calmer afterwards because she’s had a lengthy activity, and it’s really helping in our “how to do nothing” training. She’s super food-motivated, but I once ate a cheeseburger while she had a pupsicle, and she didn’t look my way ONCE. It’s also helping me keep her busy/calm while I work on the relationship between her and my senior cat (we also work with a licensed dog trainer). My cat needs to observe and get comfortable with her, but she’s so high energy that she scares him off every time. With the pupsicle, she’s in her own world, and Bruno can take his time. I really can’t believe it took me so long to purchase. The allergy support treats help her itchy french bulldog skin, and the calming treats turn her brain off for an afternoon of long naps while I have to work. This is a miracle product for my situation as far as I’m concerned.

Not at all as pictured

My 10-month-old German Shepherd did not find this toy interesting at all. When I received this product from Chewy, I immediately opened it and inserted the refills

My 10-month-old German Shepherd did not find this toy interesting at all. When I received this product from Chewy, I immediately opened it and inserted the refills into the Pupsicle. I noticed that the refill was about 1 inch below the opening, so I checked the refill bags to make sure I had ordered the correct size. I ordered the XL Pupsicle and the XL refills so the attached photo shows how the refills actually sit in the product. The image on the website of the Pupsicle shows the refill being firmly against the opening, but that is not the case for the XL toy. I gave it to my dog anyway so she could try it, hoping she would still like the toy. She licked the product for about 5 minutes and then left it. I have provided it to her on multiple occasions since, and she has no desire to play with it. I was hoping that it would be an alternative to chews for her, but it is not.

Awesome food toy!

I didn't care how many times I need to replace this, it has saved my sanity. I bought the biggest one (and the refill maker) and started filling it with her dry food covered with water and frozen. It keeps her busy for at least 15 minutes for frozen pumpkin, and 25 minutes for the frozen kibble. After a week of feeding almost solely from the dispenser it has lots of tiny tooth indentations, but everything is still intact and working well. Very little mess, though come summertime and ant season it will become an outdoor-only toy I think. But it keeps her entertained and mentally stimulated which keeps her out of my hair while I work!

Opening it is problematic unless you do this!

I read the reviews that said it's almost impossible or impossible to open once screwed in and thought "nah, surely not!" Yes. Believe the reviews. BUT be not dismayed

I read the reviews that said it's almost impossible or impossible to open once screwed in and thought "nah, surely not!" Yes. Believe the reviews. BUT be not dismayed I HAVE A HACK! The issue is the rubber grip/threading that is on the top that screws into the body is to thick. A simple solution I did was use my dremmel(I have one for the dog's nails) running pretty fast and razed down the threading until I was satisfied with the ease in screwing/unscrewing. I was going to return it or trash it and was really irritated I'd spend the money but now I am very happy with it! Not 5 stars worth because of the project it becomes to make it usable but I gave it 3 since it is salvageable. My dog very much enjoys using it! If you don't have a dremmel or something to file down the rubber you could also probably whittle it down a bit with a knife I would imagine.

Dog can pop it open

My 12-year old German Shepherd Ivan has had to be on bed rest for the last 2 weeks after a back injury. This is one of the toys that is keeping him sane. I didn't realize it didn't come loaded with a treat, but it's pretty easy to use. I fill it with peanut butter, yogurt, or canned food and freeze it. Ivan loves it and it takes a while for him to extract the food. He can pop it open by crushing it between his jaws-- several times I've found it with the top apparently unscrewed, but it just pops right out if the dog can deform it enough by crushing it. There are definitely tooth marks all over it so it's not going to last forever, but so far, so good. In spite of the rough treatment it still screws back together and works fine.

This toy definitely works for enrichment. It kept my Scottish Terrier busy for about 40 minutes, which is impressive, and she stayed fully engaged trying to get the treat out. The downside is durability. My dog was able to chew chunks off the lid, so I don’t feel comfortable leaving it down once the treat is gone. I still use it, but I make sure to pick it up as soon as she finishes to avoid chewing. I’d recommend this for light to moderate chewers or for supervised use, but probably not for strong or determined chewers.

I was so excited for this and thought I'd found a perfect solution. I occasionally have to leave my dog for an hour or two in the crate to run non-dog friendly errands, and she gets very anxious by the time I return. I bought this along with the calming treat to leave with her in the crate to keep her occupied for a bit and then help her be calmer. I tested it outside of the crate to see how long it took to finish and how the treat affected her, but the next thing I know when I turn around there's already pieces of this broken off laying there next to her. So clearly I can't leave this in the crate with her alone for any period of time or it'll be fully destroyed and half ingested. I can't believe that it would be so easily destructible at first use! I will still use it supervised, but it doesn't work as I hoped.

Folks are right...can't unscrew

I wanted to love this. It's...perfect on paper. Also, our Golden Retriever LOVES it. There are pre-made fillings for sale, mixes, and a mold to maintain longevity

I wanted to love this. It's...perfect on paper. Also, our Golden Retriever LOVES it. There are pre-made fillings for sale, mixes, and a mold to maintain longevity. The dog has so much fun working to lick the treat out. AND...I was prepared to poo-poo all the haters that said it doesn't open. I thought they were dishwashing it and leaving a harmful film on it. But they're right. I hand washed my Large, didn't use oil (which can alter rubber's chemistry) and now, after only a DOZEN uses...I cannot unscrew it. Tried hot water, cold water, no joy. I am not a weak man. I get it, I like the idea...and it works on paper, but I can't use this anymore and it is basically garbage. So I can't recommend this.

Birthday gift for our 13 yo Old English Sheepdog

We didn’t need to entice her at all. She was very happy for this unexpected surprise! It is quite heavy and stays put, she didn’t even need to hold it with her

We didn’t need to entice her at all. She was very happy for this unexpected surprise! It is quite heavy and stays put, she didn’t even need to hold it with her feet. She loved it! When it got jammed up, I unscrewed it and used a spoon to put it back into the base. She was back at it. It got quite tiny so I just dumped it outside and let her eat it. This is perfect for 3 other special reasons: 1. She no longer wants to chew NylaBones so licking a treat is great annd long lasting. 2. She had started obsessively licking her arms. This treat was a great distraction and apparently relieved the need because it’s been several hours and she hasn’t licked her arms again. 3. Sometimes she just stares into space and it makes me feel bad. This gave her something to keep her entertained. This was money very well spent!

Breaking apart 1st time

I bought 2 of these. One for my adult golden and 4 month old puppy golden. I also bought the treats that go with it. First of all, the treats do not fill the container

I bought 2 of these. One for my adult golden and 4 month old puppy golden. I also bought the treats that go with it. First of all, the treats do not fill the container. It doesn't stick out like that, which was thicker for my pup. Because of that, she was chewing it to the point pieces were coming off. This is all the first time using it, and will just look worse the more she's at it. The idea is good, but the design still needs some work. I wish I didn't waste my money.
