Can adult Guinea pigs chew on this since it has alfalfa in it?

Answer by MerandaJan 19, 2023
honestly you should be extremely cautious due to guinea pigs having a hard time processing Alfalfa after their baby years. I would stay away from it

Bunny Paul chews on the Logz like it's his job!

I've had Paul for three years. These logs have saved any and all wooden things in the house! Paul is a tiny 2 pound hotot. He goes through about 2 logs a month

I've had Paul for three years. These logs have saved any and all wooden things in the house! Paul is a tiny 2 pound hotot. He goes through about 2 logs a month. Paul tosses the log around, flips it, stands on then he gets to showing the log who's boss. He gnaws on this thing like nobody's business. It's definitely been the most consistently entertaining stimulation for him for years. I highly recommend the Edible Logz for keeping bunny busy.

My 3 rabbits love these and have been eating them for most of their lives (they are now 6.5 - 7.5 years old). I also give them fresh grass hay (from a local hay producers), kibble, veggies, and other treats. But getting these stopped them from chewing on the walls. All my rabbits (which my vet calls geriatric) are healthy with no dental issues. They used to devour them quickly (days), but now they last a couple of months. I remove them when there's only about a 1/3 of the log left as they lose interest at that point. When my rabbits were tiny bunnies, they could hide under them, but that's not possible anymore. These logz are made with alfalfa and honey, which (in my experience) is fine as a treat for rabbits, just not as a primary hay or food source. I wouldn't recommend giving this to a rabbit who devours the whole thing quickly, since it should be a treat. So, please monitor your pet with this if you haven't given them this before. Unless the recipe has changed over the past year or so, it doesn't state saw dust on the packaging, nor does it look or smell like sawdust. As other reviewers have mentioned, they are thin. Sometimes, I get one that breaks, but usually they are stable. The rabbits love throwing these and just moving these around as well. Note: The current price is almost double what I paid at another shop that no longer stocks these a year ago.

Only thing that is saving my entire house

Bun bun came in off the streets and is diligently working to destroy all wiring, drywall, veneered furniture, upholstery, carpeting, and miniblind strings and blades

Bun bun came in off the streets and is diligently working to destroy all wiring, drywall, veneered furniture, upholstery, carpeting, and miniblind strings and blades. This is the only distraction that works. Pretty expensive, but saving our house, furniture, electronics, and clothing. Rabbits can chew anything, buy preference is 5V digital cables

Yes they can chew on it but make sure they don't treat it like food

This isn't food. It isn't healthy. It is made of pine and corn which can be dangerous in high amounts. If they are chewing on it often enough that it is losing mass

This isn't food. It isn't healthy. It is made of pine and corn which can be dangerous in high amounts. If they are chewing on it often enough that it is losing mass by the day, remove it and only put it in the cage every now and then. If they only chew on it here and there, you and your pet should be okay.

I do really like these as something with a different flavor and texture to give to my crew, but the ingredients in it are bad with the first ingredient being wood shavings. I only give one or two of these to my 9 rabbits once a month or two, because of that. Can and will still buy them, just be cautious of the frequency you give them to your pets in regards to what they contain

Favorite "chew toy".

Without question, our bunny LOVES this tunnel and all Wild Harvest Edible Logz more than anything else we give her. She pounces on it every time we put one in her

Unsafe for pets

These or anything similar are very unsafe for any pet that will chew & ingest it. The main ingredient is sawdust/wood shaving which is never supposed to be ingested

These or anything similar are very unsafe for any pet that will chew & ingest it. The main ingredient is sawdust/wood shaving which is never supposed to be ingested. Just chewing it is fine, but these are sweetened with honey which encourages them to actually eat it. Sawdust can cause serious intestinal blockages which can be fatal. It saddens me that these are still sold, & that so many people purchase these unaware of the danger.

NOT EDIBLE

While yes, these wont kill your hamster, and are made to be eaten, they are extremely bad for your hamster. They are made of wood shavings and honey. Wood shavings

While yes, these wont kill your hamster, and are made to be eaten, they are extremely bad for your hamster. They are made of wood shavings and honey. Wood shavings will bloat your hamster and could give them digestive issues. Honey is loaded with sugar and will make your hamster fat quickly. Would not recommend

It works!

My rabbit chews it to shreds everytime she sees it, I will definitely order it again when it's obliterated, and as always, Chewy delivered it in record time.
