My boys LOVEEEE this food. My older guinea pig who’s 8 years old has always been super picky and has NEVER finished a bowl of food in all his years. I’ve tried every food imaginable and just settled for Oxbow food since he ate more of their food. I finally decided to switch after seeing that my boys stopped eating their food almost all together. I decided to try this food after reading some reviews and doing research on all the ingredients. THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! I’m so happy to finally get something that’s great for them and that they LOVE. My older boy gets SOOOO excited for breakfast and my other younger boys start popcorning when I get the bag out!! If you have picky piggies or just want to get them something that’s super good for them I highly reccomend!!

Beware, contains alfalfa and corn fillers

My piggies love this food, but I only give it to them as an occasional treat. The primary ingredient is alfalfa meal. Alfalfa should only be fed to pregnant females and younger guinea pigs. I also notice that some of the primary ingredients listed in this feed are cornmeal, sunflower seed meal, and there’s quite a bit of wheat products listed. These are not considered high-quality food ingredients for guinea pigs. Timothy hay based food with little to minimal fillers should be the primary food staple for young adult and mature piggies. In fact, 80 or 90 percent of their diet should be fresh hay, so if you can eliminate food pellets altogether, that’s best. That said, this food is probably a better quality feed than what you’ll find with Kaytee or other similar pet store products, but it’s certainly not ideal for piggies as a daily feed.

For some reason, all of our piggies started protesting their other food so I decided to slowly change over to this brand. Days 1 and 2 ,they cleaned their bowls. It seems , the honeymoon phase is already over and we are throwing out more than usual. Only one pig gets excited when she hears the bag open...while the others stay uninterested,but will gradually graze through most of their serving. As of right now, it is too soon to tell if this one is a keeper.

Our piggies loved most of this as it has a much better balance of items shown in the picture than some other foods you see where you end up getting 80%+ pellets. The thing we noticed is they treat these pellets? (that almost look like guinea pig poop) by not eating very many of them. They like to pick around these and eat everything else instead. The food bowl always has the pellets left, but everything else is gone. So, we are glad they eat most of the food since they are picky, but there is a fair amount wasted because they won't eat most of the pellets for some reason.

Then a few months later, he was lethargic Stopping the pellets and switching , he became his old self. He still wants to eat those pellets. The original guinea pig that was the reason I started buying the food only ate these pellets. He didnt want to eat the pellets that I originally bought. He died at three years old and vets didnt help finding the causes of his illness. My other two guinea pigs are fine with it, but I am switching to another brand.
