Topsy Turvy Fun

I first purchased the large Toppl for my dog at a local pet store. He doesn’t really care much for Kong’s and I’ve been searching for the perfect, low effort “pacifier”

I first purchased the large Toppl for my dog at a local pet store. He doesn’t really care much for Kong’s and I’ve been searching for the perfect, low effort “pacifier” to stimulate him or keep him otherwise occupied for a few moments. I came to Chewy to purchase the smaller one to interlock the larger. Well, the idea is great but my dog is NOT a problem solver. He couldn’t get the two apart but we will try again. However, using the two sizes separately works too. The larger one gets frozen yogurt and chia seeds. The smaller one gets coconut oil and peanut butter spread. Sometimes I’ll stick a biscuit or chicken foot down in there to make it more interesting. This is a great alternative to a Kong and much easier to clean. I just put them upside down on the top rack in the dishwasher and they come out clean every time. I like that this company is a smaller company and their products are MADE IN THE USA. If I had a puppy or a more active dog that liked to tug or bounce rubber toys, the other items in their line look great and well designed too. I paid $22 for the large at a pet store. Chewy had it for less than $20 and the small one was ~$15. My dog is 50 lbs. and the small is almost too small for him to easily get his tongue and snoot into. The large one is perfect and in my opinion would also work better for flat faced dogs like pugs, boxers and bulldogs. My dog is not a heavy chewer so I’m not sure how these would hold up to a destructive doggie but they work well for us. Freezing is perfect for summer. I drop it onto the kitchen floor and he can lick to his hearts content. Large - heavier in weight. If I tossed this at someone’s head, it’s like tossing a potato. Not a lot of damage potential but a solid whack none-the less. Smaller dogs probably couldn’t pick this up and carry it off easily and their tongues would easily get everything out of the grooves and wedges inside the toy. Small- does fit well into the larger one and would be great for puzzle driven dogs. The holes on the sides keep airflow and prevent suction of the tongue. I never realized the dangers in Kong’s with blocked holes or not using a straw to create an airway to prevent accidents. The Toppl is the way to go. It’s safer and easier to clean. My dog chooses the Toppl over Kong every single time.

Best Enrichment Option

If you're only going to have one tool in your dog enrichment toolbox, this should be it. The Toppl is incredibly durable and easy to clean. It keeps my dogs entertained for at least 20-30 minutes. The possibilities for fillings are endless. Even with just kibble, the Toppl acts as a slow feeder to get your pup engaged. This is great for dogs with food allergies or dental issues, who can't enjoy a chew or bone. I recently purchased the small Toppl to increase the challenge for my dogs. The small Toppl fits inside of the opening for the large Toppl, making it more difficult to get to the food inside. They work just as well as a Kong, but are much easier to clean. My only advice would be to go with the larger size if you only plan on buying one and have a medium to large dog. The small size is quite small and doesn't hold much. For a small dog, or as a lid to the larger size, it is great!

Perfect size! Design makes it nicer for large dogs than similar toys.

I've been on the hunt for a lickable treat dispenser toy (I'm not sure how else to describe this) for my senior golden retriever. I find that most of these types of toys have tiny openings that make it difficult for them for lick up all the food inside. I came across this online and knew I had to try it out! It's definitely pricier than other options, but I haven't been able to find anything like this. The Kong, in comparison, is deeper and doesn't stand up. That didn't work out for my dog, who would just give up when she was halfway done. The opening is large enough for her to easily get her tongue in, and there are soft rubber prongs inside for a bit of a challenge. To plug up the hole when I'm stuffing in blended organ/muscle meat (yum lol), I take a jerky treat and place it over the opening from the inside. My dog is a fan!

I love these. My dogs love them. They are durable and easy to keep clean.

My dogs look forward to getting one every night after our walks. I fill them with plain yogurt, pumpkin and a touch of peanut butter. And pop in the freezer.

This is an immediate hit with my 2 pitbulls (about 50lbs each)! I bought this to fill up with treats and broth and freeze. Don't be like me and miss the quarter sized whole on the side of the larger one. Made a big mess the first time I tried to fill it (completely my fault for ignoring the hole). Now I put peanut butter in the hole, freeze it, then fill with remaining treats and broth and freeze again. Gives me a good 45 minutes of distraction for both dogs. So far it's held up to chewing and licking for those 45 minutes sessions, and I have power chewers. Though once it's empty, both dogs stop playing with it, which is probably helping keep it together. Would buy again.

Seriously, I’m obsessed. I’m the proud owner of three of them now, and I’d buy more in a heartbeat. I love these because I can fed an entire meal to my puppy in one large Toppl, and it keeps him occupied for well over an hour. The trick is to soak about a cup of kibble and mash it up once it’s saturated. I drop a few treats in the bottom, go bananas with toppers, and I put them in the freezer for a few hours before giving it to my dog! It’s a lot of fun for me to be creative and make them, and my dog loves it when he sees me pull one out of the freezer.

My boys love these stuffable toys. We're raw/fresh food feeders so these toys add another layer of enrichment to the variety they get. After a year of use, one was starting to get some wear around the top edge so it was time to get another one. I had been wanting the Ruby for a while and was glad Chewy had it (it can be hard to find)

After seeing West Paw's IG, I was curious if my Border Collie Mix would be interested in this toy. My pal Kershaw ended up LOVING this! This is now my fav toy to keep him busy for 30+ minutes. I layer some pate and Greek yogurt and top it with peanut butter and random treats and freeze! We've had maintenance come in to fix the windows recently. Kershaw wasn't a fan of the stranger but with the Toppl, he was able to relax and enjoy a nice frozen treat. I've also tried giving him unfrozen treats in the Toppl but my dog is simply too smart and eats it all in a minute. Freezing has been our jam. Highly recommend this product.

A full Toppl will last my pup 10-15 minutes at most. The large can easily fit half a can of food or half a pound of raw. You can heap on 3/4 of a pound if you don’t mind a mound on top. The small holds maybe a few heaping spoonfuls and doesn’t click into the large one very securely. These don’t hold up as well as the Kong classic (see the torn up rubber in the pic) and are easier to empty. This would be a good alternative to more difficult feeders for dogs new to working for their food or ones that give up easily. The Toppl is however much easier/faster to fill and clean for daily use. When my pup’s calories got cut when he was on activity restriction, freezing some canned food in the Toppl to give at the end of his meal kept him from begging for more. Those extra few minutes were enough buffer for him to realize he did indeed have food in his stomach!

The toppl tough treat came highly recommended by other pet parents and I was excited to try it with my foster dog. She loved it but was able to chew through it during her second use of it. I was supervising her closely and she still managed to chew off pieces. She is a 15 month old lab mix who is definitely a tough chewer. The kong tough chewer has held up well to her chewing so I will be discarding the toppl and sticking with the kong for her safety.
