Weruva Classic Cat Foods

Weruva Classic Cat Foods are made using high-quality ingredients like boneless, skinless white meat chicken and hand-flaked fish loins. With ingredients you can see, these recipes deliver hydration-focused nutrition that’s rich in protein and low in fat.

Specifically Formulated for Cat Health

Cats are obligate carnivores, which means they only need meat and water to survive. All Weruva recipes are formulated with this in mind. The calories in each recipe come from three places: protein, fat and carbohydrates. The calories from meat are comprised of protein and fat with minimal, if any, calories coming from carbohydrates.

Hydration Focused Recipes

Hydration through meat to meet the needs of your obligate carnivore. Weuva Classic Cat Recipes are all natural, with no grain, gluten, carrageenan, corn, wheat, or soy.

Human Food Standards

Weruva pet foods are made in a state-of-the-art human food facility that caters to many countries, each with its own processing standards. Weruva proudly earned an “A” grade on The British Retail Consortium (BRC), which is one of the strictest standards.

About Weruva

Answer by ChewyFeb 15, 2021
Weruva formulas are not human-grade, but they produce their formulas in a human food facility using many of the ingredients and processes that are used in products made for people. They call these formulas "human styles" products because all formulas use true fit for human consumption ingredients such as boneless, skinless, white chicken breast and fish loins flaked off the bone.

Well, they like this, but I do have to do one adjustment. I keep a sharp pair of scissors nearby the feeding area and I stick the tips of the scissors into the can and cut it back-and-forth. Cut cut cut cut cut until it'salmost a pate because when I feed it to them as is, they just lick the juice. So in order not to waste it I found cutting it up small enough that they can lick. It is the way to go.

My elderly Savannah had spent a lifetime on the raw diet. She'd always been finicky about picking out only the chicken, and was extremely resistant to change. People who say "let them get hungry enough, they'll eat", are incorrect. She'd go 5 days without eating if an ingredient was changed. I know, I've had to call manufacturers to confirm why she wouldn't eat her food. There was no way to sneak supplements into her diet. Period. She recently became ill and refused water as well. While she was hospitalized to correct the dehydration and run diagnostics, I was combing specialty pet food suppliers. I came home with everything from goat milk to variations on raw. I didn't have much hope for this one. She's never in 14 years shown interest in canned. I popped the top and was shocked how good it smelled, to me! I took some on a teaspoon to where she'd been lying motionless since coming home and she lifted her head to sniff. Then she started eating. When I got up to dump the can onto a plate she sat up. I held the plate and she ate almost the entire serving. I sat with her for several hours, certain her stomach wouldn't hold it after 6 days but it did. She's completely recovered now, 2 weeks later, and eating 3 cans a day. She'll wake me up at odd times if she's hungry. The much needed nutrients are showing in her energy and attitude. She's younger. I'll be ordering this food in bulk from Chewy.com permanently.

My feline-child has a hyperactive thyroid and has been looking weight. This brand was recommended by my vet. I was concerned he would not give it a chance. He only smelled it and gave it the cat nose-negative. The meat in the can is shredded loosely and my cat didn't like it that way. I once fed him the Gerber turkey good for a 1 month old baby and he ate that I figured perhaps I should puree the meat on my husband's bullet blender. The blender did a nice job. My picky cat still needed convincing I had to unfortunately put some of the food on his mouth (gently) so he was forced to taste it. I can't even begin to add the ritual I have to go through to give this little guy this food but he done finally eats it only puree style from a SPOON. I really have one special cat. Wish I could post the video. I'd suggest perhaps putting it on your finger and hope your feline friend gives it a few licks if not resort to gently applying some on the lips.

We always get damaged boxes from chewy. It smells rancid with cat food all inside the plastic. I don’t know who’s doing the damage to the deliveries that come from chewy, but we haven’t had one that the box wasn’t damaged or the cat food cans were not dented. We haven’t spoken up until this one, because the cans are all in the case busted out into all of them, and smells rancid. Where’s the return label to send this back?

I cannot say enough about this food. I bottle feed orphaned kittens for a rescue organization and I make every effort to feed them high-quality, grain-free foods once weaned. I took in a particularly frail litter of four over the summer at 10 days old. They had horrible gastric issues and struggled for life every day for the first 8 weeks. One in particular, the runt, wasn't growing. Nothing was working. I'd tried every fancy brand and even cooked rabbit from a specialty butcher for him! A friend of mine came buy with a few cans of this to try. He sucked it down. I immediately started supplementing his diet with a 10 oz. can a day and he has gained 5 oz. a week since! This food literally saved his life. It is just what it says it is. Shredded chicken breast in a broth like gravy. Its been wonderful for my foster kittens but my own furbabies love it too. Even my senior who has never shown an interest in anything but kibble loves this. Its wonderful to be able to give them a treat that they love so much and that I know is truly good for them. They like it more than the chicken I bake just for them. I think it is the magic sauce. Everyone races to the bowl to be the first to lick up all the sauce. Its expensive but you ARE getting what you pay for. Its much more economical to order the 10 oz. cans by the case.

One of the cats' most favorite meals. They love the gravy of Paw Lickin' and Grandma's Chicken Soup, which seem to be fairly similar. None of them will touch the Chicken Frick A Zee. I warm up the can in a bowl of hot water for a couple minutes so it is slightly warmed and I break up the chicken a little, as some of the shreds can be really long. I love that Weruva has a variety of flavor combinations, proteins and textures to choose from, and that they also have 6 oz and 10 oz cans. The more options the better to keep the kitties from getting bored.

My cat Muffin was never a fussy eater. However, at the age of seventeen she was diagnosed with mast cell tumors in her intestines. She’s on two medications that I mix in her food, and her appetite is variable day to day. This food is one that she really likes, by itself or mixed with other foods. It actually looks and smells good, unlike some other cat foods that were pretty expensive and were very unappetizing. I’m so glad I found this food. I want Muffin to enjoy her meals and to be with me as long as possible.

Finally real chicken

I have a himalayan and a silver persian (both not extreme faced) and they both eat this flavor. BUT they prefer to eat it mixed with the Mideast Feast, not by itself

I have a himalayan and a silver persian (both not extreme faced) and they both eat this flavor. BUT they prefer to eat it mixed with the Mideast Feast, not by itself. They will only eat it by itself when extremely hungry and I run out of the Mideast cans :) This does not mean that the food itself is not great quality! The chicken has plenty of sauce, is soft, and does not stink! I am happy to have found this brand and recommended Weruva to other cat lover friends.

I love Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken in Gravy Grain-Free Canned Cat Food and usually clean my bowl of a 3 oz. can. My people usually give me about half a 3 oz. can of other brands since that's all I want at one sitting. They'll give me the rest later (but it's a little stale). When I eat all of a can of Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken in Gravy for first breakfast, there's nothing left for second breakfast! And I get real hungry before dinner time.

Paw Lickin Chicken is a very meaty food -- and though my kittens are most fond of the Weruva flavors that have more gravy, they do like this one too. We found Weruva after weeks of trying different premium grain-free foods for my picky boy, and several months later, they still love it. I'd tried Weruva once when they were about 3 months old, and they licked the gravy but didn't eat it. I realized later that they just probably couldn't handle the size of the meat, because they gobbled it right up when I gave it to them a month or so later. Try it again later if your tiny ones don't eat much of it at first.
