This question is for the Weruva Co.., Why do you not use fish from the U.S or Canada?

Weruva manufactures their wet food formulas in a human grade USDA certified facility in Thailand. Because of this, all fish, with the exception of tilapia and basa, are wild-caught in the pacific ocean, and purchased directly from the fishing companies. Along with the catch, there are certifications from the ships’ captains that the catches are dolphin- and turtle-safe. The Earth Island Institute also oversees Weruva's manufacturing processes.

What material are the pouches lined with?

It's no secret about our zoo... it tends to happen when you volunteer with your local cat rescue. So yes, we're at 11 cats. No, we do not intend to acquire any more. Our house are hearts are quite full enough and I think we've done more than our fair share of "saving lives and spoiling" when it comes to animals. Haha! So, of course, we're always in the market for treats, toys, etc. We're strict with their main dry food knowing how sensitive cats are and we only get the best ingredient type foods for their main course. However, for treats and wet food, we're not picky. We only choose to stay away if the cats decide they do not like it. So we were definitely excited to try the Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Variety Pack Grain-Free Cat Food Pouches from Chewy.com. I could barely get one pouch open for photographing for my review before I had a bunch of meowing faces basically ready to tackle me! Seriously! Those must be some super powerful noses. So for reviewing and photographing purposes I opened one pouch and put it in the dish. The usual treat hogs were first to get to it and they were not sharing. Once I got the photos I needed I went and opened some other flavors in their huge dish (also known as a crawfish dish here in Louisiana - yes, one of those round trays us Southerners eat our crawfish from has become their treat dish!). Well, they went nuts! From what I have noticed, this treat was a hit and did not cause any ill-effects such as diarrhea or vomiting. I love how easy these were to open and the fact they didn't make a mess. I also like that there is a lot of juice in them along with a lot of nice chunks. Wet foods of this context and texture seem to be a favorite in our household. I have to say, this was certainly a winner with ALL the cats in our home and definitely recommended!

We ordered 5 boxes of the Variety Pack on a reoccurring basis and she LOVES 5 of the 6 flavors, but still eats the other one eventually because she's a piggy. They make boxes of each flavor as well and it was super easy for me to update our next monthly shipment to only include the 5 she likes. Shipping is very fast. Our first shipment arrived the day after I ordered it and definitely was not expecting it. I also did price comparisons and Chewy came out to be cheaper. Thank you so much!

Helped senior cat to put on weight

These were perfect to entice my elderly boy to start eating again while he was sick and on meds. I rotated the flavors to give him variety and he loved the paw lickin' chicken and fish flavors. Love Weruva for my cats.

My cats do not drink water on their own and as senior kitties, they need water. But, not with Weruva! Weruva has different lines of high quality food. Cats in the Kitchen line in packets is jam packed with gravies that provide a ton of moisture for my cats. It's also great to maintain healthy weight. I use their other lines of food too, but the packets are perfect for their last half a meal before bed, each getting half the gravy/food in one packet. I feed 2 meals a day and half a meal before bed. All wet food, no dry. They love this and I love it for them as it has high quality ingredients and full of moisture. Have been buying for years and will continue too. Highly recommend Weruva.

This stuff saved my sick kitty

My kitty can be very finicky when it comes to her food but I can put a spoonful of this meat and gravy over almost any other food and she will eat it. When she was

My kitty can be very finicky when it comes to her food but I can put a spoonful of this meat and gravy over almost any other food and she will eat it. When she was sick awhile back she almost stopped eating and drinking. I was desperate to get at least liquids down her. I started giving her just the gravy with a little water added to it. She would drink it even though I couldn't get her to drink even a sip of water. After several days I add a tiny bit of the meat mashed up in the gravy and she started lapping it up little by little. She finally started to eat (and drink) more and more. Now, I feed her mostly the raw freeze dried foods (which she didn't like before, with the Waruva gravy and meat watered down and poured over it. She loves it, eats every bite and has returned to good health. Her fur, which was shedding profusely and dull has almost stopped shedding and is so soft. I would not recommend feeding your kitty the Waruva foods as their only diet but to intice them to eat the other, more healthy foods, like the freeze dried raw meats that are very healthy but not always very inticing to a finicky cat or when they are ill and not consuming enough liquids, this stuff is great.

Huge hit, BUT . . .

We are feeding a LOT of cats, from elderly to QUITE elderly. They love this food, but not only is it very expensive, it's a real PITA to dish out. We have to scissor open all three sides to unfold the (unnecessary as best we can tell) double fold at the bottom, then use a knife to scrape out the solid food stuck to the bottom. We don't see how anyone who wants to utilize ALL the contents can do otherwise, since the pouches seem to have a disproportionate amount of sauce - which pours out instantly. Granted, the sauce is what everyone goes for, especially those who are very finicky or not as willing/able to eat the shredded bits (which we sometimes have to tear apart). It's great food, no doubt, high quality and lacking in the nasty ingredients found in almost all other cat food. And every flavor is beloved by all. Just be aware that the pouches are [A] largely sauce and factor that in if budget is an issue and [B] not that easy to open and empty completely. If we had just one or two cats, especially if price was not an issue, we'd serve this exclusively. It's a winner, hands down.
