Where is weruva made

Answer by ChewyDec 26, 2023
Weruva wet products (pouches and cans) are manufactured in Thailand in facilities that also make food for people-much of the food for people goes to the US, EU, Australia and Japan. Thailand is a world leader in producing foods for people around the globe, and much of the world's tuna fish supply for people comes from Thailand (Thailand is also a top chicken producer for people). As exports are the driving force behind the Thai economy, there are strict governmental regulations in place to ensure the safe handling of food for people and pets. In addition, the processing standards from both the supply and production side must meet strict international standards.

I have the pickiest dog in the world. She might eat the same food two times in a row. She won’t eat it three times in a row. She’s half Korean Jindo and half Husky- two breeds known to skip meals regularly. Mine used to go without eating for days. But now that she’s old she’ll give up in one day. Her pickiness is one of the most stressful things in my daily life. She used to do fine on Merrick because of the variety but then she decided to hate dog food that comes in chunks or balls or loaf or pate form. Which is almost all dog food. She will not eat kibble as a main meal. Only as a snack. And she only eats Orijen, which she doesn’t like that much. She also has a sensitive GI tract. Anything less than human-grade made in Thailand gives her runny poops. Too much protein and she gets diarrhea. Too little and she won’t eat it. I bought some Weruva at my local store and she loved every can. I went through most of the flavors and she liked them the first time. I found the Baron’s Batch on Chewy and tried it. This is the only food she doesn’t mind eating everyday. I mix in other things for variety, such as ground-up Orijen dust or raw food. The only flavor she doesn’t like is Steak Frites. She’ll eat it once every month or so, unless I mix in cooked sweet potato. But recently she’s gotten sick of that too. I tried the chicken-free variety pack and she hated all of them. I had to mix those with the chicken flavors. I’ve tried other foods, but I always go back to this. It’s depressing that my dog eats more expensive food than me. I’ve browsed the entire Chewy catalog for other foods she might want try but I think she’ll be eating this for the rest of her life, or until she gets bored.

I created the 2 fussiest eating chihuahuas in the world. I tried every wet dog food there was. I even resorted to buying a 4 $ can of venison dog food and both of them just rolled in it. I ended up cooking them a chicken every week in my instant pot and adding vegetables in which they just picked out the vegetables. I was very guilty of giving them my food trying to mix it in with their kibble and all they did was pick out the human food. My one dog has a sensitive stomach and would often have a stomach ache. This all came to a screeching halt when I had to take her to the vet and her diagnosis was acid reflux which was burning her throat, her stomach bacteria was all off-balance and had to be put on probiotics and they also put her on an antibiotic for stomach issues, ( Flagyl) and the vet said no more human food. My other Chihuahua is about 4 pounds overweight. I explain to the veterinarian they do not like dog food. She told me they don’t like dog food because you give it to them and give them what they want. She told me about this dog food that was especially good for fussy eaters and she guaranteed that they would both like it. Weruva . Well I heard of it and cat food but I never heard of it in dog food. As I wrote my story on Facebook about my sick dog and going to the vet one of my friends said this is what I feed my dogs and as it turns out it was Weruva. She told me she gets it at Chewy. I was very hesitant because of the price and I was sure that they would not like it. My friend told me her dogs love it. So I took a chance and I ordered a case of Barons variety pack. Well I put some in their bowl and mixed it in with their dry kibble and of course they sniffed it and walked away. Waiting for mama to give them some chicken. But I did not. Within a half an hour they went over and they ate the entire bowl. Now this is the first time ever in their lives that they willingly ate the whole bowl of food. I am just amazed. I recently ordered my second case. They love it and I’m sure if your dogs are as fussy as these were they were also love it. I give it five stars.

I have 2 teacup fussy eater Yorkies. I cooked for them for years because there was not a brand of pet food they would eat. I walked into Petopia (Manhattan) one day and watched the Weruva rep eat the food out of the can, I was floored. I knew right there and then, this is it! Yup, the fussy pets LOVE this food! I would recommend it 100x over.

My poms are very, very, very fussy about food, sometimes even turning down fresh cooked sirloin steak or chicken breast. So, when I saw both of them licking their bowl clean, that sold me. You can actually see the meat and veggies. It isn't all mushed together in a gross paste like many of the canned foods are. I will keep buying for sure!

My 17 year old pup gets bored with her food. At first I thought it was age and then I noticed she just wanted variety. I used to buy the large cans but she became bored with the food before the can was empty. The smaller cans allows me to give her lots of variety all day long. Our older pups deserve to be pampered. This food is healthy and doesn't have the grains and chemicals that an older dog can no longer deal with. Plus she digests it easily. Never the "run"s or throwing up her food. Love this food. Chewy delivered it quickly (2 days) and without any damage. I've ordered from other sites and the cans were ALWAYS DAMAGED. Not Chewy. They are the best and so is their desire to make sure the customer is satisfied. I'll never order ANYTHING from any other company. I've come to remember what customer service is. It's not always about the $ (although Chewy is definitely competitive). LOVE CHEWY.

I recently adopted a pair of pugs from Pacific Pug Rescue in PDX, OR. When I picked 'em up PPR included a couple cans of this brand. Because PPR is completely about the dogs I figured this was quality. I was initially disappointed when I ordered a case and read 'Product of Thailand' on the box. "No way I'm feeding my pugs swill from Thailand!" was my first thought. Then I researched pet food made in Thailand and discovered that Thailand has some of the strictest pet food requirements in the world and that Weruva products are human grade, information that was confirmed by my dogs' veterinarian. And most importantly my pugs LOVE it.

We purchase all our food/toys etc from Chewy! Great products and customer service. It has been a challenge finding wet food to mix with our older GS, because she is so picky. We were using the K9 Natural New Zealand beef -but she suddenly refused to eat it. I researched reviews on Chewy -and decided to try The Weruva food. Dakota absolutely loves it! In fact to get her to eat the K9 (it was pricey!), I am now mixing the two together with her kibble. Grateful to have found a food she loves!

Just keep in mind just because it's not made in the USA doesn't mean it's bad and don't assume we have the best standards. Monsato still a problem and other countries have banned red food coloring we are light years behind some countries. I was quick to push aside this brand when I read above comment and actually liked it. But decided to further read and found out about the strict country of origin requirements. I am switching to this brand and no one may ever see me again. I was very impressed and I'm sure my pup will agree. Can't wait for my order to come in and if u don't hear from me we are busy chomping away :)
