New look? Or money grab?? Just a way to charge even more while knocking off 4 whole pounds of food. You show the ad but you keep the listed pounds off of your bags that is deceiving and even may make me stop buying this brand after using it for decades. 🤨

is this grain free

Answer by ChewyJun 07, 2018
This is not a grain free diet.

do they use ingredients from china in this product?

Answer by ChewyJan 23, 2018
The Green Tea Extract/Mixed Tocopherols is sourced from China.

Made in USA, but were products brought in from another country?

Answer by ChewyAug 18, 2020
This food is made in the USA. Ingredients are primarily sourced from N. America. All ingredient suppliers, whether domestic or international, need to meet certified nutrient levels and be manufactured in quality audited facilities. A small portion of the mixed tocopherols and green tea extract are sourced from China. These ingredients are part of the natural preservative in the food and are less than 1% of total ingredients. Each ingredient is fully tested and inspected for quality and safety before it goes into any of the diets.

I’ve been feeding my dogs this food for a while now with no issues, but something seems off with the latest batch. I purchased three bags two from Chewy and one from another retailer and none of them have the usual strong fish smell that this food typically has. If you’ve used this product before, you know how distinct that scent is. I originally switched to this formula because one of my dogs has allergies and a very sensitive stomach, so consistency is really important. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been doing well since starting on these new bags, which confirmed for me that something just isn’t right. Chewy was great about the issue and handled it promptly I’m still waiting to hear back from Wellness.

We have been using the Wellness brand; Super5mix variety since 2001. It's the only food our Bluetick Coonhound- Yellow Lab mix has ever eaten; and she loves it. We have tried all the different Wellness varieties, and there is no doubt that the Whitefish and Sweet Potato is her favorite. Back in the day, this brand was one of the few that was widely and commercially available that had a impressive ingredient list where the titled ingredient was the main ingredient, and the balance of ingredients were all high quality edibles. Though many other "gourmet" products have entered the market over the last 11 years, Wellness products continue to offer superb quality at a price point that is competitive. Also, The Old Mother Hubbard company, who manufacturers the product, has a great support staff of extraordinarily helpful and informed people, should you have any questions. If you're looking for a product with lean non-meat proteins, this is a primo choice!

My dog (11lb chihuahua mix) had some pretty severe stomach issues when I adopted him, with really severe and scary bouts of colitis, unable to eat for days. I tried all different kinds of foods. He was prescribed food by my vet (Royal Canin HE gastrointestinal) for sensitive stomachs, which didn't help as much as I wanted it to. I figured this was just going to be his life forever... Finally I decided that his prescription food just wasn't helping and had harmful ingredients for the long-term, so I did TONS of research on ingredients and nutritional analysis breakdowns and decided on Wellness brand. I initially had him on Wellness Small Breed Limited Ingredient food, and he stopped getting bouts of colitis immediately!! After about 7 months with a good stomach, I transitioned him to this one (Complete Health Adult Whitefish & Sweet Potato) because I didn't want him on a grain-free diet. Still no stomach issues, and his poo is so healthy! It also helped clear up his tear stains almost entirely, so it must be relieving a lot of the inflammation his previous prescription food caused. He's been eating this food for 8 months, and Wellness brand food in general for 14 months. I can't give enough praise to this company for healing my sweet boy. I wish I had him on this since day 1. Side note: I also have a new puppy (15lb dachshund mix) on the "Complete Health Puppy Deboned Chicken, Oatmeal & Salmon Meal Recipe" and will be transitioning her to this one when she's old enough. She loves it. Thank you Wellness :)

I have a very sensitive pittie. This food absolutely changed the game for us. We realized he had a chicken allergy, so the whitefish recipe helped him tremendously. We’ve been buying it for over a year with no problems, until this last batch. He’s been vomiting 4 times a day. We tried feeding him a different brand of food his brother eats (non chicken as well) and now he’s good as new. I don’t know what happened with this last batch, but we’ve reached out to the company to hopefully report it. I’d love to go back to this food as it helped him so much.

After switching to multiple different foods to get off of Purina One, we settled on this. My 2 goldens have skin issues (rashes, bumps, etc) and seemed to be having reactions to the lamb and rice ingredients from P1 so here we are on whitefish! It's been a few months now and their coats are shiny and they love the food! The smell is a bit to get used to, but if they like it that's all that matters right? Haven't noticed too much of a difference in said skin issues. But I do like the ingredients in this food. Seems to be a more healthy, natural choice for my Goldens!

This is a wonderful dog food. Helped to make her Alert, Fit, and Trim

I have been off and on shopping with Chewy for quite a long time now. First off, every person you talk with there.....by the end, you feel like you've made a friend. When I first started shopping with them, I just wanted to keep that same young lady each and every time. Then I learned that you get different people each time you call. I have never called a place, and time after time, Each and Every, person I speak to is knowledgeable, kind and caring animal lovers, and looks at your pet as "THEIRS". I was having some issues with my dog's food and I wanted to have her eat something that was much healthier for her. I chose this brand because I did a search and went to a reputable place to learn information. It is very stinky, however, my dog loves it. I had the chicken flavor, and I realized it gave her a reaction, so I stayed in the same brand and switched to this one...noticeable improvement. I read some things on it and some people's dogs didn't care for it, but you can't please all the dogs all of the days. But since my dog likes it, you have made this fur mom very HAPPY!!!

I have a 7 year old Great Pyrenees/retriever mix who weighs 82lbs. I've done tons of research about dog food and the different brands since I've worked in animal welfare nearly all my adult life and I take animal care very seriously. There are so many foods out there that I would call the pet equivalent of a human fast food diet- with fillers, cancer causing preservatives, and sketchy by-products. Avoiding those, I've tried all the great brands out there and I always come back to Wellness for his dry food. I like the Whitefish and Sweet Potato formula for his skin- sometimes he gets dry and itchy. But I also used the Healthy Weight formula for him to drop a few pounds- it had the least amount of kcals out of the top brand weight control foods without losing quality. It also worked great. My dog is not a picky eater so I can't say how palatable the flavors are but for being a large dog he is in great shape, his coat shines, and he's alert and active. His stool is healthy as well. Wellness has never upset his system. I'm very happy with their products.

Helped stop my dog's diarrhea

Our 10 year old female lab mix was having digestive issues for over 4 months. She is allergic to chicken, beef, and duck. She was already on a fish and potato diet

Our 10 year old female lab mix was having digestive issues for over 4 months. She is allergic to chicken, beef, and duck. She was already on a fish and potato diet with another brand, but we thought her situation could be helped if we switched brands. We saw reviews about Wellness Complete Health on Chewy that mentioned this food was good for dogs with sensitive stomachs. We mixed a small amount of food until we went 100% Wellness and now our dog has the best poop ever! No more diarrhea problems. Literally this is the only thing we changed. I hope this review helps other people with similar issues. Great dog food!

I am shocked folks would rate a food low because of a delivery driver and also what appears to be a dog in poor health. Ignore the poor reviews and read mine that comes from being a dog owner for 45 years! This food is amazing, our two standard poodles love it, and we are so thankful we found it six years ago! I am happy our dogs are getting wild-caught fish protein and other very healthy ingredients. I have never had an issue with the quality of the food in six years. Chewy is amazing to work with and autoship is a delight. Chewy also occasionally sends me discounts. I could not be happier with this product and this supplier!

Check expiration dates

I’ve been ordering this food for years, but recently my dog hasn’t been feeling well. I checked the date on his food and it was from July 2024. The past two bags I’ve gotten from Chewy had the same date from 2024. It’s unacceptable!
