It says there is taurine in it? Isn’t that what is in energy drinks?

Answer by MichelleNov 28, 2021
Taurine is an acid important for heart health. Not enough taurine is believed to cause dilated cardiomyopathy, or DCM, a heart muscle disorder that can lead to congestive heart failure and death.

In the ingredients garlic powder is listed, isn't garlic harmful to dogs?

Answer by ChewyAug 14, 2018
Garlic, when used in small amounts, can help support the immune system, liver and cardiovascular system. It also prevents blood clots and reduces cholesterol/fat build up in the blood and heart. Additionally, it aides in the fight against bacterial, viral and fungal infections and increases the rate of killing off parasites and is great for palatability.

For many years I gave my dog Sadie a brand that sounds very similar to Face of the Child. However, after my dog’s last trip to the vet, I was informed that grain free formulas can lead to major issues later in life. So, I tried a few different brands like Serrick, Red Bison, and Borijen, and they all gave her the runs. So then we tried Wellness, and I wish I would have tried this sooner, because it completely cleared up Sadie’s digestive issues in about two weeks. Plus, she really seems to like this stuff. With the other stuff she would stare at her food for a while before she ate it very slowly. Now with Wellness, she is waiting at her bowl whining about 5 minutes before every meal. We will be sticking with this brand going forward. I included a picture of what it looks like in Sadie’s 1 cup yellow scoop for reference.

It's been a rollercoaster struggle with finding a dry dog food that my Chronically Ill Fospice girl could handle. This particular brand/flavor of dog food has been the ONLY dry food that she has liked enough to eat alone, without needing to add a home cooked vet approved high protein food. She's carefully tried half a dozen types/brands of dry- prescription included and this has been the only one she likes. To make it easier on myself, I've switched the rest of my dogs to this brand as well and they love it too!

This is by far the best food I have found yet for Boxers health. If you are looking for a dry kibble that is a complete dry diet loaded with all the essentials for your Boxer's complete health than you have found it. I have done loads of research, and hit and miss trials. This food does not cause my girl to fill the house with GAS! And the price is great too because you can feed a bit less then the other brands because there is more inside of it that is better for your dog. Also divide your dogs daily ration up into 2 meals, AM and PM so the digestive system has a better chance at getting things ....well you know digested. You don't eat all of your food in one big sitting for the day...do you? Neither should your dog. It is recommended by the experts that if you have a Boxer that you feed a 4 oz. package of Sardines packed in water only, and not a product of china, (Thailand is ok) once a week for the extra Omega 3's. I also give my Boxer girl snacks of green leaf lettuce, small pieces of tomato, banana, blackberries, and walnuts, and an occasional fried egg over easy. And yes, she loves that stuff. Oh, and apples and oranges too. No more yukky dry dog cookies for my girl. Sorry about the picture Chewy, it was before I switched over..... ^_^

My dog had started eating feces, I know, yuck! So, thought maybe he’s not getting right nutrients, we’ve tried several over last cpl yrs & now Wellness, a brand I’ve known about, but didn’t think I could afford, esp for a large dog. I read contents labels & there’s things a must & absolutely Not. This foods 1st listed, which means primary is meat. So far, so good. This food may seem $$, but the size last my dog almost 2 months, he’s 100lb American Bulldog. Also, made in US & it’s a must I know where this foods from & what’s in it. I loved this food because they donate to my local ACA & SFSPCA & homeless dogs in San Francisco. Who I spend $ w/ is important to me. I want it to go not to Corps, but ppl who love dogs & actually care. I love this brand

We order this food for our nearly two-year-old pooch, Leo. Normally he loves it, but the bag we got last month looked completely different - the kibble was smaller in size and significantly lighter. He couldn't stand it! And by that, I mean every meal was a fight and involved some kind of bribery by mixing it with broth or something to mask the taste. We thought maybe the look had just changed and he was getting spoiled (which is always a possibility with pets in our household). Lo and behold, our new shipment arrived today and it looks just like the older bags we got. Obviously something was wrong with the last batch and it was never caught in quality control. He seems to be eating this kibble fine, so hopefully he's back to being his easy-going self. We've now gotten in the habit of mixing it with yummy homemade food so I doubt that will change much, but it will be nice to be able to give him straight kibble when needed.

Works for megaesophagus

I can put this in an old, large yogurt container, cover it with double the water, put it in the fridge overnight, and feed the wet balls to my dog in her Bailey chair. The balls are slippery and hold together fairly well. I can slip pills into them and she doesn’t regurgitate them. Some Mega-E dogs can’t get balls past the lower esophageal sphincter and need to feed a slurry, but if your dog’s able to eat balls of wet food, this might be a good, easy option. This food is more nutrient dense than others, so I can feed less volume, which is also better for my dog’s medical condition.

My golden is a particularly picky eater. Our vet recommended Purina and he refused to eat it, even with wet food. We’ve been on several different types of dog food and he just loses interest after a few months. It’s been about 8 months and he’s still loving it. My friend recommended it and sent me the nutritional info and I was sold. His coat has also never looked shinier. He still needs wet food added (he always will, he’s so picky) but on the days where he’s so hungry, this is the only food he’ll eat dry occasionally. He’s 8, in great health and acts like a young dog every day! Thanks Wellness!!

This food seems to be one of the very few foods that check all the boxes: moderate protein, lower fat, great ingredients, no fillers(everything has a purpose), and it’s PALATABLE!! For whatever reason all of these dogs SHOULD be foodies, but they’re not. So to win them all over, agree with their sensitive stomachs, and make them super shiny, this is all a win win!

Been using this food for about 3 years now and our lab mixes always scarf it down and look forward to breakfast and dinner time! FEED LESS THAN RECOMMENDED! For our 50 and 55 lb dogs 3/4 cup twice a day is perfect for them. You should feed less if you have less energetic dogs. If you look at the calorie per cup for this food it is much higher than most and always remember you should be able to easily feel your dogs ribs for a healthy weight. We were feeding one cup morning and evening to both dogs but as they started to get over 60 lb our vet recommended feeding them less. I was offended at first but she was totally right
