Is this fresh and mostly green or yellow like straw? Also, are there any groats?

This is mostly green with groats. It's fresh and very good quality. The only oat hay I get for my buns

I am allergic to both timothy and orchard hay, and thought we'd found a solution with Oxbow oat hay, but our guinea pigs hated it and refused to eat it - it was all yellow and straw-like. Thank goodness for The Viking Farmer hay!!!! It's much more green and tender, and they LOVE it! I'm keeping a close eye to make sure the seed heads aren't too high calorie for them (they go for those right away), but I can genuinely say that this hay has made all the difference - a solution for both me and them.

This used to be such good hay and it’s the only brand my rabbits with enthusiastically eat but their quality has taken a nose dive in the past few months. This is the third box I’ve gotten that is about 50% yellow/brown in color and about 20% of the box is dusty bits that are too small for a rabbit to chew. This is not living up to its price tag anymore and I’m using it mostly for the litter box.

My rabbits were not fans of this hay. I have a bonded pair and a single, making three in total aging 4, 8, and 12 respectively. I have offered it to them several times and while they initially seem interested in the new option, they refuse to eat it even after several weeks of continuous introduction. The texture is very straw-like, being hard and almost hallow in some strands with fiber-like puffs on the end. It also did not have the scent that I'm used to from opening a box of hay, which is generally a very grassy-natural auroma. It had almost no scent at all. It was, however, packed very well. My rabbits might just be picky, but this product wasn't for us.

Picky bunny approved!

I love that I have another vendor where I can get quality oat hay that my bunny likes. Nice wide long green leaves with plenty of seeds to chew on. Unfortunately

I love that I have another vendor where I can get quality oat hay that my bunny likes. Nice wide long green leaves with plenty of seeds to chew on. Unfortunately I did find some good size rocks in my 5# box so I attached a picture with a measuring tape next to it for scale purposes. That was my criteria for the 4 star rating.

This hay is of great quality. It came super fresh and green. It has a wonderful fragrance that could be smelled through the closed box. My rabbit enjoys the hay

There was a heavy brick of dirt (intentionally placed) at the very bottom of the box. I wondered why there was less hay than before but the the shipping weight was accurate, well that brick of dirt made the difference, it was heavy. My rabbit likes this hay and I wish I had another option for this type of hay, but it’s little bugs (found in the pet select box) or dirt brick from this company, so dirt brick it is, unfortunately.

This is my bunny's 2nd favorite oat hay. Good quality, good variety of, what I assume to be, parts of the hay stem and seeds. Qver all, a very good brand. I have been buying hay for my bunnies for over 10 years, The store brands have always proved inferior because they are not freshly cut; that is their biggest drawback, in my opinion (based on my bunnies' reactions). We have tried 4 brands of oat and timothy hay on Chewy's website. All have proven very good, including this one.

I’ve been using this brand of hay for years. Yes there are some alfalfa roots in the box but that isn’t so much of an issue as the bugs. The past few boxes we’ve gotten have had small moths in them. I have to leave the box outside for a couple days now before using it for our indoor rabbits and would recommend others do the same. If this wasn’t the best bulk oat hay I’m able to get I would switch brands.
