Indication

Trifexis prevents heartworm disease. Trifexis kills fleas and prevents flea infestations, and treats and controls adult hookworm, roundworm and whipworm infections in dogs and puppies 8 weeks and older and 5 pounds or more.

Important Safety Information

The use of ivermectin at higher than FDA-approved doses at the same time as Trifexis can result in serious side effects. Treatment with fewer than three monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes may not provide complete heartworm prevention. Prior to administration of Trifexis, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection. Use with caution in breeding females. The safe use of Trifexis in breeding males has not been evaluated. Use with caution in dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. The most common adverse reactions reported are vomiting, decreased activity, itching, decreased appetite, and diarrhea. To ensure heartworm prevention, observe your dog for one hour after administration. If vomiting occurs within an hour of administration, redose with another full dose. Puppies less than 14 weeks of age may experience a higher rate of vomiting. For complete safety information, please see Trifexis product label or ask your veterinarian.

Our chow chow had severe allergies from the time we brought her home at 12 weeks old. Our previous chow (before Apoquel was created) had similar allergies for which I gave him weekly injections. Our current chow has been on Apoquel the entire time that she has been with us. No hot spots, no kicking, no pulling her hair out, NO INJECTIONS! Thanksgiving was hectic & I forgot to give her Apoquel. By Thanksgiving night she was kicking, biting her haunches & pulling her fur out. Gave her her daily dose & within 60 minutes all allergic behavior was gone & she was laying down & being her usual, calm self. If we ever wondered if Apoquel really worked, we have our answer!

"Trifexis works great, but our dogs hate it!" Is pretty much the theme in Trifexis reviews. I am here to offer a solution I discovered: Wrap Trifexis in raw ground beef and dogs will love medicine time. This is based on experience, check my resume below. Every month for years, I hated when my calendar alerted me to give our dogs their Trifexis. I found myself staring in the fridge for a tasty left over, a fine aged cheese, crappy cheese, cheese-food-product, hot dogs, sausage, bacon, dog treats and fish sauce, ground it into dust using a mortar and pestle and mixed with peanut butter... literally nothing could mask their Trifexis. Ultimately, after the air would fill with words I can't have our son repeat and yelling about why such an expensive dog pill was clearly not made by dog people for dogs my wife would offer up her services. Her finger would take the now gooey pill stuck to her finger like a booger and cram it down their throats. Not cool and the dogs weren't having fun either. The vet had no suggestions beyond what had already been tried. One day the calendar notification dinged on my phone and the dreaded word "Trifexis" appeared. I grabbed the dogs boxes of Trifexis cut the pills in quarters as usual (knowing that they really detect the whole pill) and opened the fridge in search of a masking agent. Then, something unusual happened, as if the heavens opened up, a beam of fridge light shined down from above onto some ground beef waiting for me to transform it into chili and beans that night. I grabbed a chunk of it and made Trifexis stuffed meatballs out of each piece of pill! The dogs gobbled up their medicine and wanted more! I received my first Michelin Star and now, finally, I live a more stress-free life. My potty mouth has turned into laughter and praise. The dogs running and hiding behind the sofa has turned into salivating and tail wagging. And we all live happily ever after. We love Trifexis calendar notifications now!

$25/pill is ridiculous! Other weight categories of Trifexis on sale, but not this one. I saw someone state in a review it kills ticks. This is inaccurate. Per the box, it treats fleas, heart worms and other worms. I don’t use pesticides in my back yard because of my dog. He usually gets about 1 tick/year. I found only one Vet locally that dispenses it, but at about $185 for 6 pills. There are only few Vets here that still write the Rx Im told because it doesn’t treat ticks. I thought I could use a tick collar with it, but I was told there is no such thing as a tick only collar and I would overdose my dog with flea medicine if did that. However, I want to say because my dog is 9 y/o, he has been on Trifexis 8 years, and only gets an occasional tick (with no apparent illness) I won’t change him to anything else, including injections. The reason is because on his annual exam fecal testings, he has never tested positive for any worms or parasites. That’s saying a lot because he eats and chews on anything back there, and drinks dirty water from rain drain all of the time. Do I wish i could get it cheaper? Yeah! Do I wish I didn’t have to mail in the Rx? Yeah! But he’s worth the extra expense & trouble for sure! This why I give it 4 stars instead of two.

Best anti-flea and tick supplement on the market so far!

I have had all four of my dogs on Trifexis for the past 8 years and I am so grateful for its reliable efficacy! I have been offered a few other flea and tick prevention options through the vet but I keep sticking with Trifexis! It has not let me down and I can take my dogs to the dog beach, on a hike through any type of terrain, and allow them to meet other pups confident and knowing that my dogs will not catch fleas...such as is naturally prone to occur when they are off of Trifexis. Yes, it is pretty expensive to buy a year supply for four dogs or even just one or two, but I really recommend that browsing customers give it a try and see buying Trifexis as an investment...they should not be dissatisfied! It is so expensive to de-flea and tick our dogs along with every area throughout the home and vehicle/s...but in my opinion, Trifexis is truly an investment in your dog's health and your sanity worth making :)

This product is amazing! I highly recommend it because it works very well, but since it is a pill (which sucks but there is a way around it!), it was hard to give to my little dude until I thought to myself, why not crumble the pill and mash it up and give it to him?. That is exactly what I did, before taking the actual pill out of the silver packaging, I literally ever so slightly try to smash the pill in the packaging, once I think it is powdery, I then open the packaging from the little corner and voila! You have a powdery pill. What do you do from there on you may think? Either put the powdery pill in a treat (pill pocket, or some cheese) or put it into the food, one way or another your pup will consume the pill in a non pill form, this has been working pretty decently for me for a while! Hope this helps some folks who have been having trouble with this stuff! It costs a pretty penny but works amazingly!

I was having a hard time getting Sophie’s Trifexis from her regular mobile vet. I couldn’t get through on the phone or texting or email. So when I found another mobile vet, we visited them and had no problem getting a script for her Trifexis. And Chewy was very good and fast getting it to us. Thanks so much.

The company didn’t charge me 3x and when I called them on a Sunday, the representative (A REAL PERSON, not a robot!) picked up the phone in less than a second and helped me with kindness and respect. I think if Chewy ran the world.. we would have world peace!!
