Why can’t this be given with food? Is there a bad reaction if given with food?

The reason for not giving this supplement with food is so the Laxatone can attach is self to the hair in the stomach without any obstacles that may dilute the product. There is no bad reaction to mixing with food. It would dilute the product more and not be as effective in attaching to the hair in the stomach.

My two female kitties willingly take hairball gels, but my 2 yr old baby boy (at 15 lb) backs away from every type and flavor I've tried like it's poison. But this one in tuna flavor--he was a bit curious, cautiously took the tiniest taste. Then another. Then he finished the dose. He's a gray tuxedo with thick plushy fur, so I'm thrilled to finally find a good hairball gel that he'll take! Thanks!

This gel works!

My Ragdoll cat has so much FUR and coughing up hair balls are a constant problem. This gel doesn't entirely SOLVE the problem, but it helps alot. I buy it regularly

One thing you won't see (as often, anyway) is a cat hawking up hairballs... I remember the bad ol' days when I had to smear Laxatone onto my cat's paws to get her to eat it. She would try to shake it off her paw first, splitting sticky gunk all over the room. Years later, new cat, better product: My cat Opal literally grabs my hand so she can lick the medicine off my finger. She's even tried to eat it right out of the tube! I give her a tiny bit every morning and night, which has stopped her hairball production by about 90 percent. We are very happy with this product.

This stuff DOES work for keeping the hair flowing, but the packaging and the way the product comes out is such a huge messy pain. If it's above 70F in your house,

This stuff DOES work for keeping the hair flowing, but the packaging and the way the product comes out is such a huge messy pain. If it's above 70F in your house, it will come out a watery, runny, sticky mess. It needs to be just a wee bit cooler in order to come out in a semi-solid form that you can actually distribute (without getting all over yourself and in your cats fur). But I continue to buy it because it does work and that's really all that matters.

This product works to eliminate furballs. It sends the fur right out the back end into the litter box, so that your kitties don't have to struggle to cough them

This product works to eliminate furballs. It sends the fur right out the back end into the litter box, so that your kitties don't have to struggle to cough them up. The flavors that this product come in are all excellent. I open the tube, and they come out from wherever they are hiding. My youngest wants to lick it as it's being squeezed out of the tube. I have on past occasion tried other brands without success-I couldn't get them to eat the others. Tomlyn's Laxatone has been a major staple in our household for many years.

While the gel will not allow the fur to entirely pass through the intestines, it will ease my cat's ability to purge the hairball. Without the gel, the fur gets entrapped inside my cat's stomach causing discomfort. I add the gel to his favorite canned food in the morning and mix it in.

I have never had a cat that liked the gel, but I had to give it a try on my Rescue kitty. She also doesn’t like it. All my cats loved the Laxatone Chews & they were EXCELLENT at hairball prevention. I have purchased the Chews a few times in the past year or so & each package had an issue. Instead of being chewable one pkg was puffed up and crumbly, another purchase, the entire bag was full of a crumbled product & a third purchase the chews were like concrete. Im sure the gel is as effective as the Chews used to be, but it only works if your cat will consume it & mine never have. I haven’t had to deal with hairballs in at least a decade of using Laxatones Chews. Im so frustrated with all the ineffective products Ive tried to relace the Chews. I contacted the company about the quality issue with the Chews and got a flippant response to return it to where you bought it for a refund. No explanation or indication that the problem was or would be resolved. Their Customer Service is seriously lacking! I guess I have to learn to live with hairballs

This product has helped my cat so much! Since using it he hasn’t thrown up any hairballs. He doesn’t like to lick it alone, but place a small amount at the bottom
