How big is a "scoop?" Does a scoop come with the product?

Answer by ChewyFeb 25, 2020
A scoop is equivalent to 1/8 of a teaspoon (0.52 grams). A scoop is included in the tub.

Why does the back of mine say only 1 scoop for cats 6months and older? But same 0.52gs per scoop

It's directed that for kittens under 6 months get 1/2 scoop given 2 times daily. For cats 6 months and older get 1 rounded scoop given 2 times daily.

Can it be mixed with water and poured on dry food?

Answer by ChewyOct 05, 2022

Gretel the tuxedo cat developed a chronic upper respiratory infection (uri) at about 8 years old. Medicine could not control it, as it was viral. So I got her on a regimen of this l-lysine powder. She went into remission for her uri for eight more years, living a very full and normal life. It was only at the end of her life, in her 17th year, that it failed to keep the uri at bay any longer. She was also in kidney failure at this time, so her body was just breaking down in general. If I could give this product more stars for buying her eight more years of health, I would. Amazing product.

Ok so Cara, my 3 year old cat is not really good w/ anything that isn't food; real Cat food. Sprinkling it on the food did NOT fly. She completely did not touch the food. So I have been pouring 1/8 tsp (scooper provided) 2x a day. If more than 1/2 of it doesn't go down the chute, i.e. her throat, I give another scoop. I never heard of Feline Herpes before and I had been taking black crud out of her nose for over 6 weeks. I finally took her to the Vet and that's what they told me it was. Rather than purchase their $40 remedy; they said I could try another product, I won't mention the name, but this particular product seemed to get better reviews. Plus I very much like the fact that the nutrition label provides how many mg of L-Lysine my baby is getting. Geez, do mfr's think consumers are idiots????? Put the mg on your packaging; many of the other Lysine products do not provide that info. Critical; as far as I am concerned. She's not really sweet on it; i.e. the taste and tonight I got a pretty good scratch and scream, but the point of this review is "She is improving"; noticeably and in less then 1 week. That's a pretty good sign in my book. Beats cleaning her nose with vaseline and Q-tip; never went away. Da! It's a virus. I'm going to risk the scratches and screams until I think her immune system is where it should be. So .....If you have a finicky eater, like it appears many cat owners do, there's no guarantee kitty will take it like sprinkles on a Frozen Yogurt Cone; mine won't. She wants her kitty food to be kitty food - so don't try to fool me, says my girl. Okay....that's enuf on this topic. I hope some find this review useful.

We have an elderly cat who was always healthy but about 6 months ago developed an upper respiratory infection. After 3 different antibiotics over the course of 3 months, she just couldn’t kick it and the vet recommended we try this product. We started the powder along with another round of antibiotics. It took about a week before we started to see improvement. We were able to stop the antibiotic and just use the powder after that. She wasn’t completely healed but it helped her stay healthy enough that she didn’t have to permanently be on antibiotics. I simply sprinkled it on her wet food every morning. However, she loved the taste so much I could just put it on a plate by itself and she would lick it off. I would absolutely recommend this to all cat owners!

My foster cat came to me with continual eye discharge. I gave it lots of time, thinking maybe she was stressed in new environment, but nothing changed. Finally decided to try this, even tho I couldn't find good research on its benefits, so I was skeptical. BUT.... it worked for Pippi! It took a good 3 weeks but it worked!! No more eye discharge. At some point I'll stop giving it to her and see what happens... hoping her body can manage without it, but if not, it's worth the cost. I can sprinkle it on top of her wet food and she has no problem with it.

I have an 8 and 1/2, male, tuxedo Kitty. He has been presenting signs of congestion, sneezing, and coughing. As suggested I have started him on the l-lysine immune supplement. He's been on it now for almost 2 weeks. It seemed to help him some by about the end of the first week. He is not completely well, but better. L-lyzine was suggested because most cats carry herpes virus which can present itself as these symptoms. The supplement can help clear up these symptoms. Although he is better, I think he is dealing with a sinus infection also. I am planning on taking him to the doc very soon! Good luck with your kitties! Elizabeth K.

I care for my four indoor kitties and a whole slew of outdoor cats, including 15 kittens that were born in April. All of them inside and out were sneezing and had runny eyes. The outdoor kittens were in especiallybad shape with blood red eyes. A neighbor told me about this product and I started mixing it in wet food for every cat that I feed. They have all recovered nicely, especially the outdoor ones who, in my opinion, could have lost eyesight. I will continue to give this to all of the cats I take care of just to make sure their immune systems are strong.

My cat Bella, has struggled with a watery eye and frequent sneezing. I’ve tried pill supplements, respiratory health treats and nothing seemed to help. Finally I decided to try this, I just sprinkle the recommended amount in with her wet food and she eats it right up!! Her consistent watery eye hasn’t been back since I began giving her this immune support powder. She’s also been having less sneezing fits. I’m not only amazed at how effective this is, but how affordable and Bella easily eats it up. I never leave reviews, but I hope this helps a fellow goopy eyed cat owner. 10/10 recommend trying

After adopting two kittens with FHV that had chronic secondary bacterial infections of their eyes and sinuses which required weekly antibiotics and eye drops, I decided to give this a try. They aren’t big fans of hard food, but when I sprinkle this on their daily grazing bowl of hard food, it’s like they know it is on there and it will help them, and they devour the whole bowl. I do not give it all the time, but if I see a sneeze flare up, I add it to the bowl and it helps them immensely. Their sneezes stop in a few days and it does not progress to a bacterial infection.

I have two kitties that consistently seem to be at risk of getting colds or becoming ill. I about had it when my one was miserable with sniffles and conjunctivitis. After their last batch of antibiotics from the vet it was suggested to add this to their diet and I have to say even though I've only been using it for about a month, my one cat's continuously watery eye seems to have cleared up. Also, they both don't seem to have the sniffles anymore. More time will tell if it actually reduces symptoms, but at the moment the peace of mind is worth it to me. I just mix it in with their wet food at dinner time and they still gobble it up. They don't seem to mind the taste.
