I have a cat with IBD. I've given her the salmon flavor and she does great. Are the chicken options also good for cats with IDB?

Answer by catmomJul 13, 2021
My boy has IBD and chicken is the biggest trigger for him. From what I understand every cat has different triggers with IBD. It’s just food trials that help you determine what is not agreeing with them.

I was giving this food to my cat for months now and suddenly with the new shipments my cat completely refuses to eat it. Is there something wrong with the food? Maybe there is some recall or ingredients are missing or extra ingredients.

Why isn't there Taurine in this cat food? I thought that was something cats needed.

My cat used to love Tiki After Dark Chicken in Broth but now won't even touch it. Have they changed something?

I just weened my cats off of their kitten food and onto this, and I couldn't be happier. I was worried that one of them may turn her nose up at it because she's generally pretty picky with food, but she ended up preferring it over her kitten food. It's so amazing to be able to find a good that uses quality ingredients, no fillers, no gums, and no fish for a price that is reasonable. I could almost do the same with their kitten food, but I couldn't find anything they liked without fish or gums in it. This stuff is the real deal. I'm so happy my cats enjoy it.

The product is great, I love the clean ingredients. I have 2 cats and they prefer dry food and don’t always finish an entire can, but as long as they’re getting some of the nutrients I’m happy! I am however bummed out in regards to how the package arrived. It was packaged with the 35 LBS litter I ordered, resulting in most of the cans being dented and the box completely destroyed. I feel like this could’ve been prevented with better packaging.

11 Cats = APPROVE!

We have 11 cats (perks of volunteering with a local cat rescue!). So, of course, finding a treat that everyone enjoys can be difficult in our house. Well, the TikiCat

We have 11 cats (perks of volunteering with a local cat rescue!). So, of course, finding a treat that everyone enjoys can be difficult in our house. Well, the TikiCat After Dark was a HUGE hit! The cans are small cans so the package itself does NOT last long for us. However, the treat is quickly gobbled up by everyone - no matter the flavor. What I like about these, compared to other wet cat food products, is that there is a lot of juice in the can. Because cats are known to not drink enough water, wet canned food helps them with staying hydrated. Because my cats really love the taste of this brand, all the extra juice is quickly taken in, which in turn, ensures them getting enough water in take. As a pet parent, I love the concept of this brand, plus, these cans are grain-free. For the cats, well, it was no surprise that they seriously enjoy the flavor of these. The Chicken and Quail Egg even had a chunk of egg in it - which was a hit to them! From the moment the can top is popped, you may as well consider these cans gone. Seriously, well worth it! Plus, the adorable design on the can doesn't hurt either!

Girl goes bonkers over tiki cat!

My girl goes crazy over this food - the first time I gave it to her, it was the Lamb one and she gobbled it up so fast she choked, then hounded me for another can

My girl goes crazy over this food - the first time I gave it to her, it was the Lamb one and she gobbled it up so fast she choked, then hounded me for another can ALL night. Safe to say - she LOVES it! It's the no-fail food for now at least, I really like all the variety in this pack; the only issue I've had (which really isn't an issue, lol) is that the newest case was out of order and had doubles of a few flavors.. Lucky for me, it had less pork flavor; so no harm done. Overall, this is a quality food, you open it up; and you can see exactly what's inside and recognize the ingredients. Sad to admit I even ate a few pieces to see what the fuss was about and it literally tastes.. Well, how it is supposed to taste, like meat. Unlike a lot of brands. It's a little pricey, some may say, but for what you're getting? It's a fair price. Note, I very much love the quail one - there's a tiny little egg slice on top! Tell me that's not cute!

Recipe change maybe?

My kitty used to like these, I only ever feed her Tiki indoor carnivore dry food and either luau or after dark wet food cans; I also mix in Vital Essentials raw

My kitty used to like these, I only ever feed her Tiki indoor carnivore dry food and either luau or after dark wet food cans; I also mix in Vital Essentials raw foods with them so she has a fairly balanced diet of items I feel she doesn’t get tired of eating, however, recently the last batch of the after dark I purchased she just would not eat a single one of them no matter how I prepared them. Now, there are quite a few strays outside our condo and she happily watched as they polished off the box, but it’s quite an expensive treat! I’m not sure if I’ll purchase these again, I believe we will try the other soft food options and see if they’ve made changes to the recipe that would create this behavior, prior to this though, she loved them and would meow excitedly as her daily wet food was being prepared, so just something to think about if you have a picky eater - perhaps if you have friends or coworkers with cats get one pack altogether and try one can first before committing to an entire box.

This is a quality food but not for my cats

I ordered this previously which is why I probably ordered this by mistake (I meant to order the After Dark Velvet Mousse variety pack). My cats don't like carrots

I ordered this previously which is why I probably ordered this by mistake (I meant to order the After Dark Velvet Mousse variety pack). My cats don't like carrots & peas in their food. I have cats with yeast allergies and of course I look for quality food for them. That's a lot of label reading LOL. I thought they would enjoy the organ meat because I've gotten them organ meat treats, although those were either jerky or freeze dried. The organ meat in this food is in quite large bits. Considering the size of their kibble is on the small side and one of cats barely chews their food to begin with this was problematic for my cats and why I had been wanting the Velvet Mousse.

Louie tested, cat mom approved.

These cuts of chicken with gizzards, dark meat, and organ meat satisfy the carnivore inside my wee tiger kitty. He absolutely devours the can! He loves each flavor

These cuts of chicken with gizzards, dark meat, and organ meat satisfy the carnivore inside my wee tiger kitty. He absolutely devours the can! He loves each flavor - including the beef and pork, but especially the lamb and duck flavors. I will definitely buy the larger servings of the After Dark line - I wanted to make sure he liked it first, and boy howdy does he love his gizzards! And while most of the negative reviews are correct about it being very brothy, I actually like that I don't have to add a broth topper to his meal. Even with a water fountain, he is reluctant to drink water so I supplement breakfast and supper with broth. I like the wide variety of meats and that it is real identifiable shredded chicken and bits of organs.

Worth the extra money

I have to admit that my cats did not like this food, however, I know it's better for them, so I mix it with the food they do like to get them to eat it. Eventually I am hoping to stop buying the lower grade food. Let's face it, if I was given the choice of a brownie or a bowl of brussel sprouts, I would pick the brownie. I think cats are the same. They like the cheaper food that contains all those fillers. Give them what's good for them. They will eat it when they are hungry. Don't give them a choice. You know what is good for them.

The only brand I trust

I see a lot of bad reviews because of the high water content, but that is exactly one of the main reasons I chose this brand. Cats are known to not consume enough

I see a lot of bad reviews because of the high water content, but that is exactly one of the main reasons I chose this brand. Cats are known to not consume enough water since in the wild they get most of their water from the meat they consume. I worked with my vet to find a suitable food for my cat, and she suggested Tiki Cat because food with a high water content is a great way to ensure cats get enough water in their diet. The organ meat in this variety pack is another plus because cats would naturally eat all of the organs in the wild, so this is a great way to give them a diet that is as natural and balanced as possible. I would never even consider any other brand for my cat. Tiki is the best!!

I really like the wet Tiki canned cat food. I have tried all different versions and my cat likes them all. What I notice more then anything that within 1 week of feeding Tiki to my cat, her dandruff is completely gone. She is pure black so those little white flakes really stand out. She has absolutely no more white flakey skin now that her diet is all Tiki. It's expensive but well worth it I believe. Another important point is that for years while on Fancy Feast my cat would throw up after eating maybe once every week or two. That also has completely stopped since all she eats is Tiki wet and dry food. My cat is a diabetic on insulin twice a day. This food has also been very good for maintaining her blood sugars. My cat looks and acts like she is 10 but she is still going strong at 16.5 yrs old
