I haven't had a cat that needed a litter box in maybe ten years and my flabbers were gasted when my new kitty used the litter box to go #1 and there was basically no odor. It's been two and a half weeks since I've started using and aside from stirring and swapping out half for some fresh litter there has been no upkeep or smell. It really is pretty incredible how far science has come in the litter department.

With older cats you can’t tell when they are getting sick. The reason I bought it was my 14 yr old cats coat started looking dull and he looked like he had lost weight. With this litter it showed he had kidney problems. So I took him to the vet, they said a lot of people don’t catch the problem until it’s too late.

I have 4 senior/adult cats and they all took to this litter. At first they would only pee but they began pooping too. Scooping is so much easier since there are no clumps that break apart. I have used 1 bag for 31 days and have the box in the laundry room and when I come home there is absolutely no urine smell, even after 30 days. As for the color change, I introduced each cat separately to the new litter and was able to observe any change for each. They all had acidity (turned yellowish). Spoke with vet and provided them with a water fountain with filter and using boiled or bottled spring water. I will see how that works with the new bag. Best of all, very little scatter. Even with a litter mat the clumping litter would get every where. There is a small amount in front of the box but not all through the house and on furniture. I think most people will notice a significant difference with this litter.

The big switch...

I may have found a cat litter worth switching for. Every cat parent dreads cleaning the litter box, but this litter is a Cat-Mom fan favorite...and Cat approved!

I may have found a cat litter worth switching for. Every cat parent dreads cleaning the litter box, but this litter is a Cat-Mom fan favorite...and Cat approved! First and foremost, no more litter is tracked all over the house. Secondly, the ammonia absorption on this stuff is superb. Lastly, if I can make one suggestion to those who are accustomed to using a clumping formulation - learn from my mistake - get yourself a non-slotted scoop so that you can remove the collection of urine spots only. I had on hand a slotted scoop and had to mix in urine with the clean litter (after removing the poo). So basically, I went through my bag faster than I would have liked. At the end of the week I had to dispose of the contents and start fresh...then I got a shovel scoop. This litter is too expensive to not last at least a month. Overall, I'm going to purchase and see if the new scoop is helpful in stretching out the product for a longer period. I've been using this litter for going on 3 weeks and I absolutely love it for my baby girl.

My cats are used to Fresh Step and regular Tidy Cats litter. Both great. But since they are 7+ years old now, the alert crystals must feel softer and cleaner on their paws. They don’t put up with clay dust anymore when covering their business. It’s bad when a human fills a new box with clay litter, imagine having to do your business ! I have 2 female cats. The girls are both 7, and my husband and I decided to try Tidy Cats Alert. so we decided to try Alert to help monitor the senior girls’ health. Definitely peace of mind!

I was skeptical about anything coming from a big company -- have always leaned towards supporting small businesses. But during the pandemic, the small company we used to get silica litter from went under. Then, we tried a variety of other silica litters -- but most of them have unnecessary additives (like herbs and those silly blue dots) which actually dilute the effectiveness of pure silica. I don't know what their color-changing thing is about, but frankly we don't use it for that. There is nothing in it that looks blue or weird. And it's the MOST EFFECTIVE litter we've ever had in terms of controlling odor. If you've never used silica litter before, it dries everything out, so that urine smell just isn't there -- unless it's time to change the box. We're down to 1 cat and we only change the box every two weeks. You just scoop and flush the dried poop. You can actually flush it because hardly anything sticks to it, because it dries out so fast. Quick stir every day to make the liquids from the bottom dry out. Highly recommended after decades of cat experience.

We bought this in hopes to see if our cat has any problems, i guess she didn’t because the litter never changed and she was fine after the fact. But shes obsessed with this litter, refuses to use any other but it tracks soooo badly, along with its pricey, also its not a deodorizer so shes pretty stinky when she decides to use the bedroom box at night. i have hard wood floors and haven’t found a small vacuum that gets it all. not sure what to do how to get her to go back to the other litter. for now, getting a litter mat, and sweeping multiple times a day, this stuff isnt human feet friendly, definitely feels like sand.

We are transitioning from clay to crystal litter and I am here on Chewy checking to make sure they have this. I picked it up in a local pet store but may end up ordering it from Chewy. I like it, the cats like it. I don't see the dust people are mentioning. Have you all tried clay litter? We get dust on the darn celing from that. The cats transitioned fast to this. It feels like the clay so I think that may be why. It cleans up easy. I am unsure how much they are tracking around the house yet, I can't fully see it on the laminate flooring or carpet yet. Definetly could see little clay spots from the Dr. Elsey's and other litters we used. I think this is a good product so far.

Firstly, I will say that I like the principle behind the litter. The color-changong crystals allow you to keep track of your fur babies health. BUT, I would not use this in placement of the everyday litter that my cat uses. I would use this for a week or two, enough time to make sure everything is okay and then switch back. Maybe doing this every few months or so. The crystals did not cover up smells very well. And though I know smell comes with a cat and it's litterbox, I do not do smells! My cat adjusted to the crystals very well! The crystals do not have much or a scent to them, if at all. As mentioned, I like the principle, but would not use as a permanent litter.

I received Tidy Cats Tidy Care Alert Cat Litter free in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion. My boy used the sample until we ran out. The color did change, and it was always normal. I liked that it's light weight, easy to use. My cat had no trouble using this litter he adapted quick. My issues were the lack of clumping and the tracking. There were litter beads everywhere. I would buy if my usual litter wasn't available, but I see no need to buy it now.
