Scoop away waste daily. Change the litter completely and wipe the box down with soap and water once every other week or so to keep things fresh. Keep enough litter in the box so your cat can dig a little, around 2-3 inches for non-clumping litter and 3-4 inches for clumping litter.

Great Litter and Packaging

This litter is the answer to my little issue! I'm a 73 yr old cat lady and the more economic but much heavier litter containers haven't been easy for me to manage. But now I have a broken wrist (tripped over my kitty Logan) and am wearing a brace for who knows how long. Argh! So after trying a few different litters I discovered that this 14 lb jug of Tidy Cat is purrfect! It's very absorbent and clumps hard which is essential since Logan piddles A LOT! It eliminates the oders without being perfumy and doesn't track badly. Plus the handle on the jug makes it easy to pour, and it's easy to recycle as well. I just gave it a stomp with my foot and it crushed nicely without and sharp instruments necessary! Add to all that, Logan seems to like it...so it looks like we're sticking with this litter. Problem solved!

I've been using Tidy Cats Cat Litter for many years, with several different cats. There has never been an "adjustment period" from whatever litter they were used to before they came to us. They just started using it as if they had used it all their lives. All of our cats have been rescues and several had never experienced clumping litter before, nor scented litter and yet none had any problem making themselves at home as soon as we showed them where the litter box was. Having grown up with the old-fashioned non-clumping, non-scented litter, I have been thrilled with how easy cleaning litter boxes has become! Hubby and I have tried several different brands of clumping litter over the years and Tidy Cats has stood head and shoulders above the others for ease of use, very low dust, and acceptance by the cats. Not to mention the price is usually better per pound than the other brands. Many thanks to Tidy Cats for an excellent product at a more than reasonable price and highly recommend it to anyone caring for cats. Karen and the Crew

I’ve used Tidy Cats since Hayden was a kitten. She’s really great about burying her poo and It doesn’t have that typical cat box smell. It clumps and doesn’t come unclumped as she buries more. I’m happy because the only place for her litter box is my bathroom & no one walks in and says Woah, Cat box, Yuck. They actually don’t even know I’ve got a cat she likes to hide when people come, you know, typical doesn’t want to be bothered with humans cat attitude.

I have a lovehate relationship with this product. On one hand, the packaging is great to reduce giant plastic waste that the tubs create. However, this past purchase, the bottom of the bag busted out in shipment. There was litter ALL over my porch, and inside the box. the bag of cat food shipped with it is a dusty mess, and i hope hasn’t seeped into their food! I don’t want them eating that dust with their meals. i’m Getting the heavy bag up continued to rip and spill into the box. Carrying the box into my house tracked an entire dustpan full of litter onto my floors, and a huge chunk of the product was spilled out and unusable. The litter left on my damp porch created a claylike mess, and is going to take a while to fully clean up. I may not continue to purchase if it becomes this much of a mess and hassle, on top of wasting the actual product, when the packaging isn’t heavy duty enough to hold the litter in.

Good Product, but beware shipping...

The litter works great, it clumps just right, locks in most of the odor, especially if you line the pan with some baking soda. The only complaint I have, is the shipping. Each bag comes in a decent sized box, and that's fine.. but the carrier (I think it's Fedex? Not sure) just dumps them on the ground outside my house in random spots. Sometimes way over by the garage, sometimes 10 feet from the porch door. Doesn't matter what weather, they just dump em on the ground. The order before this one, it was raining hard all day long, and they just dumped them waaaaay out by the garage, about 70 feet from my door. They got absolutely soaking wet, and thankfully only 1 of the bags had leaked water into the litter and thankfully it was a tiny leak, could have been much worse. The boxes were utterly soaked and useless, had to carry them into the house one at a time in the pouring rain when I found them at 9PM at night because I didn't hear the delivery driver.

My humans have tried to buy cheaper litter, and they have tried to buy other brands of litter. But I, King Gandalf, prefer Tidy Cats 24/7 in the yellow bucket. In fact, I refuse to bury my poops if any other litter is in the box. Perhaps it's the scent of this litter, or the way it effectively clumps my waste, but Tidy Cats is my litter and I accept no other. I've even been known to kick other litter out of the box with my back feet. Don't play with me and don't try to sneak other cheap stuff in the box....I know and I'll make a mess of it! I've used this litter for 20 years. My 19yr old kitty passed and I recently adopted a new kitty. My nephew raves about a brand called Worlds Best Cat Litter which is very expensive. So, I thought why not and tried it. Well, bad move, because she WOULD NOT get into the box. REFUSED to use it. So I bought Tidy Cats an she went right in. It does track some but I think they all do. It's not dusty at all. If your kitty isn't sensitive about scents, the Glade smells so good. Unfortunately, my kitty is. May try later adding a little at a time.

Over the past 3 months or so we tested 14 different litters that can be purchased here on Chewy. The attached picture is a summary of our results & personal opinions. No one paid us to do this test and we are not getting any discounts or other compensation for providing our feedback. Before we started this test we had been using Tidy Cats for years and we like it although it does track a lot and it can be dusty when you fill the box. We have found 3 other litters we like better, but this will be our fallback option if we need litter in a hurry. It is wildly available and inexpensive.

she won't use a lot of litters, but the clumping type like this she will. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the bags I bought are leaking the litter out all over. Not Tidy Cat's fault though, that is due to rough handling in shipping I do believe. They were in a box, but both have small leaks where the litter is leaking out of the bottom of the bags, so I am not sure if it is the shipping or the way Tidy Cat packaged it. Both just a small rip or something on the bottom that leaves a trail if you move them and leaked all over the boxes they came in.

I’ve used cat litter for about 40 years, and until recently preferred Tidy Cats. Since the “Gray is the new Green” buckets came out I’ve noticed a severe decline in both clumping capability and dust accumulation. It’s like trying to collect cat urine from mud! It still “clumps,” but when you try to collect it for disposal it falls apart and scatters throughout the litter. The bottom is clay fines: a muddy mess! My cats - one of whom is a tripod kitty - are having more messes than usual as well. I would no longer recommend this product.
