My dog only gets anxious when in a car. She doesn’t need it all of the time, but once you put it on you have to leave it on? It won’t last any longer if you take it off? It only lasts up to 4 weeks, so it gets pretty expensive!

Answer by ChewySep 07, 2018
The calming collar is required to stay on for the full 4 week period. If removed consistently, the effect would wear-off.

Is this collar safe for a mixed dog/cat household?

Answer by ChewyMay 29, 2021
This collar is safe to use while around other pets.

What is this made out of? I have two large chewers and they tend to chew plastic on each other's collars.

Answer by ChewyDec 07, 2018
This collar is made out of silicone.

Is this a one-time use product or is it refillable?

Answer by ChewyNov 01, 2018
Each collar can be used up to 4 weeks.

This made such a HUGE difference for our dog with sever separation anxiety. He used to hurt himself, he was so panicked. Our vet recommended we try this. I was pretty skeptical that it would do anything, sounded a bit woo woo, but we were out of ideas short of drugging him every time we leave. We’ve been getting them for years now. These days we only need to get one if we anticipate stressful times like travel etc. I understand that it doesn’t work for everyone, but it is absolutely worth a try, especially at the price for 4weeks. Understand it is an aid, not a replacement for training. I’ve recommended it to several friends. Some it worked just as well as for us, for others it did not. I also found it’s worth pointing out that the collar needs to be fairly tight in order for it to warm up from the body heat, which helps release the pheromones. And it’s gradual, not the instance you put it on. We always have a pack on hand just in case.

I wished this worked because Ollie was a mess. We tried it a few days ahead when just a few people were shooting off the “boomers” (what I tell Ollie they are), I didn’t see any change in him. On the 4th early I had made an emergency call to the vet for medication. If your dog is frightened by loud noise, I would recommend passing on this collar, get medication from your vet. It was my vet who recommended trying this before medicating him.

Well, it's currently thundering a bit. Sasha starts trembling so hard it shakes my 1000 lb couch. Hours before weather starts. She also soaks my floors dripping saliva. It's REALLY FUN TIMES. I couldn't stand it anymore, afterc7 or 8 years gradually getting worse and worse. We ordered this product, and, after eating it only a few hours, with it currently getting ready to rain, this is her in the pic. Calm as she can be. I even got her slobber towel ready. No panting. No trembling. Nothing. This has saved her life, and my sanity. BUY IT

Peace without guilt

Have been using the chews Vetriescience Calm & Confident (per my Vet) for a few years. They really make a difference with grooming, vet, visits, watching me pack, etc. Toby was quite ill a few years ago, then went through an "escalated aggressive" period. Vet suggested the collar (which I had used before & stopped bc of travel & lack of availability). Went back to collar and the panicked agression went back under control. Now I buy ahead so I always have them available for monthly changging. Still use th chewies in addition as needed

This used to be called Adaptil, and is equivalent to a pheromone that the mother dog makes when nursing her pups, and their response is a big burst of bonding oxytocin, making the dog feel safe and secure. It's super helpful for stressful circumstances, such as: when you are watching a friend's dog and they are anxious to be away, they'll settle down and sleep after putting the collar on them; for dogs who are nervous about meeting other dogs, this can help them be more relaxed and feel more receptive to friendly dogs; for when a dog who has lost a sibling, this can help a dog feel peaceful again; when you bring a new dog or puppy into your home, to help them feel bonded with you or the people and pets around you. I have a dog who is much more relaxed and happy, who gets a new collar every two weeks. I recommend this to friends and clients frequently. A really helpful product for dogs!

Separation anxiety

Have been wrestling with separation anxiety whenever we have to be gone. (Cody lost his 2 companions last year due to age). I bought the Thunderease pheromone

Have been wrestling with separation anxiety whenever we have to be gone. (Cody lost his 2 companions last year due to age). I bought the Thunderease pheromone jars and put them around the main room...I noticed a slight change. Giving him 300 mg of Trazadone helped a bit more. The combo of the jars, the Trazadone and the collar did the trick and he hasn't caused any additional damage to the entry door.

My Yorkie is 10 years old and her eyes are graying so she's seeing more enemies - I mean shadows - lately. We'll be on our third collar soon and it's helping her feel more at ease. She's never been a big barker, but the last couple of months have been a little nutty at nighttime.

We recently lost one dog to a tragic coyote accident. She was 11. Our other dog had been with her for that whole time and depression set in. We actually thought we’d lose him too. Our vet recommended this collar and it has been a lifesaver. It may not work for every pet but it definitely did for ours.
