Cat is Obsessed, Don’t Last Well

My cat went crazy and full running and acrobatics as soon as she saw these (and even still 6 months later when I switch the color out or add multiple to one lead)

My cat went crazy and full running and acrobatics as soon as she saw these (and even still 6 months later when I switch the color out or add multiple to one lead). The rods are long and the lines even longer than the typical toy so that helps. The fishing line/stretchy thin clear plastic line could be a safety hazard as others have mentioned, but my cat has gotten tangled maybe ~8 times in the past 6 months and has gotten out of it by herself each time. The line is stretchy and smooth, so it slips past her easily but she also only ever plays with these when I’m around (both by my choice and hers, she prefers balls/springs when she’s playing alone and I put these away just in case). They don’t last very long, after about 6 months of play, both poles have snapped from tension and the worms and feathers shed like no one’s business and can be annoying to clean up. That being said, I am getting them again since they’re her favourite (likely because of the bouncy line making them move better, and the range of running she can do with the longer lines). The price is the quality, so I’d only get if you’ve got a big player who would make these worth their issues. Just have to be cautious when you leave, but other than that, they are amazing and come with a lot of options if your cat gets bored of one.

The kitties love playing with these, and there are a lot of attachments that come with the set. However, the fuzzy pipe-cleaner type attachments have googly eyes glued on, and they come off very easily creating a choking hazard. I just pulled them all off before letting my cats play with them. Also, each attachment comes with a bell, which one of our kitties doesn't like. Thankfully these are easy to remove too, with pliers or twisting by hand (see photo.)

4.5 I love that these extend, and they are long enough to give a good flick of the lure while extending out enough that my cat is moving around a lot. A lot of these twos are too short and don't flick well. Unfortunately, for larger cats, they are strong enough to break it within the first day. I have had other extending wands, and they always seem to break in the same place - just past the first (closest to the hand) extension on the second section. Luckily, this comes with two wands, so I used the other, and I am careful about how hard my cat pulls. He loves the fuzzy ones more than the feathers, btw. I don't often need to retract the toy, so I was able to get some heat shrink tubing and create a brace around the break with two splints and not extending that second section all the way. The amount of lures, the strength of the wire, and the extensions make this a good choice in my opinion. Just mind where it tends to break.

The BEST cat toy for a picky cat

I waited for a while to write this review, because I wanted to see if my cat continued to enjoy the toy (and to see how well it would hold up to her playing with it 24/7). Almost two months later, I can confidently give this 5 stars. I went on a toy buying spree a few months ago for my one cat who is a complete toy snob. Despite having a million toys and wands to choose from, she was disinterested in almost all of them. This, however, was a gamechanger for her! I think something about the fishing rod, which has a lot of bend, makes the toys at the end snap around in a way that feels more lifelike and fun for her. She chases this wand around the house all day, and I'm grateful that it seems to be built well, because it has really held up well. The package itself comes with two "fishing rods" and a handful of toys to put at the end. The toys themselves seem a bit flimsy, but I also know that my girl (and her sister) play with them constantly, so I don't ding the manufacturer for that. One constructive piece of feedback I would give is that the fuzzy pipe-cleaner looking toys have googly eyes on them. I get why they did it (it's cute), but I had to rip those off as soon as I saw them, because I knew my cats would eat them if given the chance. So I would stop adding the googly eyes, but otherwise it's a fantastic toy and I would highly recommend it.

On the little pipe cleaner snakes (her favorite toy) these each come with two tiny googly eyes poorly glued on. They pop right off, and your cat could easily swallow them. I pull them off all the attachments before playing. Also, each of the attachments comes with a bell. This is great for play, except that my cat bit into the bell (I was watching her, it happened so fast I couldn't stop her) and the small metal ball inside fell out and she either swallowed it or it's been lost. If she has swallowed it, this could be dangerous! I have no idea if there were any unfiled, sharp edges on that. What if I had a small child and they picked up that tiny metal ball and put it somewhere dangerous? I'm so glad my cat loves these toys but I am disappointed that Chewy sells them as they are - a new pet owner might not know they have to cut off parts of these toys to make them safe.

After receiving this product and allowing my cats to play with it for a few minutes, my one immediately tried to bite off the bell and eat it(already considered cutting it off due to a choking hazard) and immediately cut the bell off to prevent a choking hazard. A few minutes later he bit and tried to swallow the tip of the feather. These feathers are cheap craft feathers and could be dangerous if ingested. Immediately took away the feather. I do not recommend buying this product but if you do, keep a constant watch over your cats and do not leave this toy unattended

The worms have tiny googly eyes that come off really easily! I pulled them off by hand and threw them out but I’d hate to have my kitties swallowing them. They are tiny and maybe not likely to do any harm but I feel like that should be an obvious thing not to do? Pet toys are meant to be chewed up, ripped apart, and both cats and dogs can get sick or die if they swallow things they shouldn’t. I wish pet toy companies were more selective like kid toy companies are, maybe label toys as ‘supervised play only’ or look into materials that will break down easily in the stomach if swallowed. And I’m a little disappointed in Chewy for selling something of this quality. The good stuff: Our cats love wand teasers and need replacements somewhat frequently, so I was glad to find a pack that included so many (plus a few new wands so we can switch between types of toys without clipping/unclipping them). Both the feathers and the worms are a big hit and having duplicates means they can play with the same type of toy without feeling picky or jealous of what their sister’s playing with.

My cat had an immediate positive reaction to all of the toys, dashing after them like she saw a bird or a mouse (depending on the appendage). I understand that these toys are kind of dispensable and can be replaced, but they seem to be holding up to 2 weeks of her rough handling. My reason for four stars is due to the amount of metal attachments and the feathers that could catch on her face or mouth. She tends to chew on the feathers and could easily break pieces of them off with danger of ingesting them. I reduce the injury potential by putting packing tape around the metallic attachments. I watch closely and try to remove the toy from her mouth before she has a chance to bite down but of course it doesn't reduce the chance of ingestion. So far it's working. Wish there was something besides feathers for these toys, and maybe a malleable, plastic sheath to put over the metal pieces.

My cat loves all the toys it comes with especially the feather and I love that you can switch out the toys from the stick. I get a good 5-10 plays with them before I have to throw a toy away from her chewing it up. The stick is also durable but my cat has snapped a couple of them when really tugging on it. Overall good quality for the price but they don’t last forever

I don't know what you guys need to do but busted open packages is not acceptable. The products bought from CHEWY are not cheap most of the time. My $30/$40 little items in with the catfood box were on my front steps bc th box was busted. THIS WILL STOP ME FROM ORDERING FROM CHEWY. I've ordered cat food from other places and this is by far the worst shipping. The very few dollars I save with chewy isn't worth it. If my orders continue to arrive in poor conditions I WILL TAKE MY BUISNESS SOMEWHERE ELSE. I mean come on, you know what your shipping, right? Heavy cat food/litter!!! YOU NEED TO DO AND BE BETTER! WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU CRAM 2 30LBS BAGS OF CAT FOOD IN ONE BOX. THIS IS POOR JUDGMENT ON SHIPPING, THIS IS ON CHEWY! BE BETTER! YOUR CUSTOMERS SPEND A LOT OF MONEY FOR YOU TO TREAT THEIR ORDER LIKE THAT. IT SCREAMS THAT CHEWY DOESNT CARE! Treating my order poorly is treating me poorly! I will not pay you to disrespect me again.
