They advertised KCAL 3900 The actual product box shows 960 KCAL Contacted the company no response other than show a picture so I did. Also ask them about sodium content on a dry matter basis and they would never answer it. NEVER....finally after 4 months of research. . I finally came over something that said 1.44%. sodium. THAT is an extremely high level for a kidney or heart dog! I believe I found that the company was sold or joined with another els so at this point I would be careful if you have a health compromised pet. I just purchased a bunch of this but I will feed it to my younger healthier dogs as a little treat on the side, I do not believe in sodium levels that high in any food. I did try to load a photo of the product label on the boxes of dog food I have but it will not allow me to upload but I want people to be aware

We were previously feeding our two ten year old dogs who we adopted overweight a diet food for the last two years. My younger dog just got diagnosed with an allergy to chicken, and they like to steal each others food, so they needed to be put on a new food. I never considered this kibble before because they previously had this formula grain-free. It is really hard to find a kibble without chicken and with grain, and it's actually impossible to find that for specifically overweight dogs. I decided to try this because it is high in protein and vegetables with grain, and I am very conservative when measuring out the kibble. Not only do they like it, but all the sudden my ten year old dog is playing and running around! It has been a month and they still have more energy and have lost weight! They don't even really need toppers anymore which was pretty expensive. I see a lot of confusing comments on here, but I feel it's important to inform people that they do NOT teach pet nutrition in vet school. Therefore vets are not experts on pet nutrition, pet nutritionists are. And there is nothing wrong with safely feeding your dog raw food, and a qualified vet should know that. Just because your dog didn't agree with this food, for reasons ranging from allergies you're not aware of to-- you not incorporating it into your dogs diet properly, does not mean this company or this formula is bad. Chill and buy the trial size first.

While this has great ingredients, it gave both of my dogs upset stomachs and diarrhea for the duration of half the bag. I thought it was from the transitioning of food from another brand (Jinx), but it lingered on too long. Because of that, I would not recommend this product.

I tried this because it was similar to the Red “Raw Blend” red meat recipe. I even thought they’d like the raw coated better than grain free red raw blend, but I was wrong. The only way I can get them to eat it is with wet food topper or shredded chicken topper. Now that the grain free version is available, we are going back. I can still recommend it but be careful if your dog is used to grain free red meat food.

The dogs love the taste.

My dog’s can’t have eat food with chicken so it’s been hard to find a food they like. This food is a bullseye and great for their allergies.

I have searched tirelessly over the last few years to find an actual dog food that Mia would eat and was starting to think it wasn't ever going to happen. Once I got my first Stella & Chewy's product at a local pet store I thought there may be a bit of hope left, as Mia eagerly devoured it - if I hadn't seen it with Mt own eyes I honestly don't think I would have believed it had someone else told me! I was psyched and proceeded to buy more online. Mia has loved the various flavors if meal toppers & dinner patties that I've bought, but apparently something in these items is dangerous and/or just doesn't agree with her though she LOVES it, sadly. In 4 years it's never happened until starting this food that Mia was severely straining when 'doing her business' to the point that it was like rock solid, she was yelping trying to poo, there was blood in her bum that I could see, and this resulted in 2 different emergency vet appointments that costed me hundreds of dollars. Vet basically told me it was due to the food and she has colitis. Told me to stop it all and put her on a wet prescription food which she's not a fan of...surprise surprise. Also had to go on an antibiotic, prebiotic, etc. These past couple of weeks have been incredibly trying for both Mia and Mias mom. I could go further into detail, but I can't imagine many people want to hear about it. All in all, I have to say positives about the food but also obvious negatives. The best thing was how eagerly Mia ate the food. I thought it sounded very healthy with all of the information on the packaging until the vet told me about marketing and how things are worded certain ways and not always 100% accurate/truthful, which is incredibly upsetting that any company in the dog food industry wouldn't be transparent and actually care about the lives of the furbabies...some of us love our babies more than anything else in this world, and I'd go to the end of earth to do what's best for my pups - the least people can do is be honest. Sorry. Anyways, some other negatives would be how expensive the products are in general. Thankfully Mia is small - I can't imagine how expensive it would be for a large dog. The biggest negative is the health concerns and amount of money I had to spend out of pocket in vet bills. I had initially fed it dry and then switched to rehydrating it before giving it to her, and the problem still persisted. If the medical problems hadn't happened once I started feeding this brand to her, I wouldn't have much negative to share. I don't know if this is a common experience or not, but I'd encourage you to use caution.

This was a big NO for my two dogs. They liked the flavor (it seems they did) but it gave them terrible, constant gas and mushy stools. This was with an appropriate amount of time for food changeover. My large dog may be allergic to an ingredient as she itched nonstop and all of these symptoms resolved with new food.

Dare I Say Gimmick?

Granted, my GSD is a picky eater. I thought this food was going to be steps above other kibble, especially given the HIGH price relative to other QUALITY kibbles. My pooch's taste test says no. I see this as another kibble, excellent marketing, and a gimmick. If you have a picky eater, I do not recommend this kibble.

My dog developed loose stools. At first, we thought he might have caught some bug, had him tested, all negative. Put him on rice and boiled ground beef. Vet put him on some pre/probiotics, then we started re-introducing the kibble. Same result. Pre-soaking in warm water did help some, but we realized that our dog might be allergic or something, so we switched back to the Blue Buffalo Wilderness and back to normal. Yes, we did transition through about 1/3 of the bag when switching kibble. So now I have more than half a bag remaining of the Stella & Chewy's that I can't use.
