Anyone who has had to switch foods for their cat for whatever reason knows that it’s not always an easy thing to do. Cats like routine. My inside cat has been eating Purina Beyond White Meat Chicken and Egg for almost a decade. When the outside cats came around, I just fed them the same. It was loved by all. Unfortunately, Purina has decided to just delete that entire line from their product offerings. No notice was given, so some people will not be able to gradually switch their cats. The switchover is going faster than is recommended. Fast forward to the search for a replacement, and the fact that this Solid Gold brand was Chicken and Egg, and grain free like the Purina, I was drawn to it. Well the outside cats pretty much ate it without pause. My inside princess prefers the Purina, but will eat the Solid Gold as well. I am pleased and have put this food on my autoship already.

I was looking for a replacement for the BEYOND product that Purina so rudely discontinued. The recipe is the same, the price is a little less and my guys actually like it better. The pieces are tiny, which I believe makes it hard to chew, but all is going in and out well and we can do fine without Purina. The stray has taken exception to the replacement but still shows up for meals and I’m sure, like the rest of us, he will adapt. Stupid Purina, anyway.

I had been searching for a couple of years for a food that would help one of my babies. Talon was given to us a when he was 1-2 yrs old. He came to us with some serious bowel issues. He had horrible diarrhea and every time he used the box it was as if someone dropped a gas bomb; it cleared out rooms it was so strong, even he ran away from the box when he was done. I have tried a variety of foods hoping to eliminate the diarrhea and the bombs with no such luck. We tried all-natural, sensitive stomach and grain-free with varied results. Some of the grain-free took care of the diarrhea, but not all of them, and not all grain-free foods had the same effect. Some increased my babies appetites and I felt like I was feeding them all the time, others they just didn't like and refused to eat, but none of them actually fixed the gas bombs. I then though that maybe I should try some probiotics with his stomach being in such turmoil. In looking around for probiotics and grain-free foods I came across Solid Gold. I saw that it was grain free, gluten free and had probiotics, it was like hitting the trifecta of cat food. All my babies love it and it has helped with Talon's tummy issues. No more diarrhea and no more gas bombs! This is one food that the cats seem to be able to control their eating with. For my three, they get 2 cups a day, which on some days is more than enough. I'd know if they weren't happy with it or wanted more, Talon and Binx have ways of making their displeasures known. I had them on this food for three months before writing a review. I wanted to give the probiotics time to work as well as give the gluten free part of the diet time to take effect. This has worked better than I hoped and I highly recommend this food. Though give it the time it needs to work on your kitty's system before giving up, which is about three months.

I couldn’t find this brand at the local store so I went back to the old brand and he stopped finishing his meals. Always left a little in the bowl and wouldn’t eat it off the floor anymore, very out of character for my enthusiastic little glutton. It was clear to me that he had developed a taste for the solid gold so I ordered some more and oh my gosh this cat is so different now!! He eats ALL his food again, yes even the pieces that fell on floor. And all day he went back to his bowl asking for more food, so adorable. And when he wasn’t asking for food he was aggressively affectionate, and very cheerful. He is a totally different cat from yesterday, I had no idea he had grown to dislike his previous food that much! Hopefully the price stays the same because he has definitely made up his mind. Love to see such a happy cat, thank you!!

I am not one to typically write reviews but this food has been the best thing for my 14 year old cat. I adopted him when he was 10 and he has had a ton of health problems since I’ve had him. He started losing weight very quickly last year and was diagnosed with malabsorption caused by IBD. I have tried so many different foods and this is the only one I have found that he eats consistently and does well on. He weighs more than he has ever weighed since I’ve had him! He’s super active and happy. So thankful to have found this food! Thank you Chewy for always being so efficient and helpful!

My surviving two cats have been on canned food only since August when my then elderly boy Lorenzo was diagnosed with late stage KD. Once he passed I decided to keep the canned food regimen so my obese 11-year-old Orion could lose weight. But my younger Nicco is trim and needs a kibble treat between meals, so after much research and previous satisfaction with Solid Gold, I chose this formula based on the low 17% carb content (as discovered in the Q&A). He loves it. I bought the 6 lb bag because it was less than half the price of the 12 lb. So if you’re looking to buy this under current pricing, 2 of the 6-lb bags would be your best deal.

I leave this food out for her 24/7 and she grazes throughout the day and night. She also gets a wet cat food twice a day as per vet recommendations because of her age and need to support kidney health. This dry food is a lifesaver because she drinks more water when she eats it and her wet food cannot be left out for more than a few hours for her grazing preference.

I've been purchasing this food for my 2 cats for about 4 years now. Earlier this year the resealable part of the bags went away. I was bummed, but adjusted. The 12-lb bag I received in July had a bunch of odd-shaped food pieces and crumbs throughout. It was a mess to deal with since I use the dry food in food puzzles and slow feeders, but I figured it was a one-off. However, my August bag also is full of the food crumbs. I reached out to Chewy and they offered a replacement bag, but what I want to is to know if this is how all the bags will be coming. A replacement does me no good if it's full of crumb filler. I have 1 unopened bag to try, but if it's the same, I'll have to move my subscription elsewhere.
