SmartPak SmartSupplements SmartCalm Ultra Pellet Horse Calming Supplement, 3.75-lb bag

I've used these SmartCalm Pellets for about two weeks now for my 15 year old Shetland pony, Smokey. He is about 11 hands and 450 pounds. Smokey is a modern Shetland from show lines, bred to be very showy and also high strung. Even for a modern Shetland, he can take the high strung part to a bit of an extreme at times. It is always a careful balance when working with him to keep him in a good head state while preventing him from having a blow up. So I was rather eager to try this supplement to see if it might take the edge off of Smokey's nervous energy. These are little bitty pellets, about the size of rabbit pellets. There is a scooper in the bag to measure out a daily dose. The pellets have a very strong, pleasant smell, though Smokey disagreed at first. I gave them to him straight on the initial feeding, and he wasn't having it. He sampled them and then spat them out. So I tried top dressing them onto alfalfa pellets, which I know he loves. He tried to avoid eating them, but couldn't help but consume a few. He did leave about half of them uneaten that first day in his bowl. The next day, he had finished off the rest of them overnight. The following day I gave him another bowl of alfalfa pellets topdressed with the SmartCalm pellets, because I really want him to like them. This time, he cleaned out his bowl without issue. So while initially he was put off by these pellets, once he got used to their taste, he liked them plenty fine. I have had no issues getting him to eat them since. As to how the pellets work, in the two weeks that I have been feeding them, Smokey has been seeming to remain more on his calmer side of normal. As in, he has mostly remained about as calm as he would normally be on a good day. There have been no major blowups either, nor has he had a nervous day where it's really hard to get his head back on me. I'd like to say that these pellets seem to have taken the edge off of his nervousness and helped him to be his better self. Anything that helps Smokey remain in a decent head space is a win in my book. I will definitely be continuing with feeding him these pellets.

I have a 9 year old mare that spooks easily and sometimes has a hard time focusing on me. I've been using smartequine smartcalm ultra pellets for 3 weeks. It comes with a scoop and I add the pellets to her balancer every morning. I wanted a product that I could give daily to get that even calmness daily, not just for events/farrier/rides . She doesn't mind the taste at all and it looks just like her balancer pellets. I've definitely noticed a difference in her behavior. Just an overall calmness, like it adjusted her down a notch or two. She can still spook of course, but less often, for fewer reasons, and recovery is quicker. The bag is a 56 day supply. I'm a new rider and feel more comfortable riding now that she's on this supplement. Thank you!

I have been using SmartCalm Ultra pellets for over two weeks and am so pleased! I have a 15-year-old mare who is high-strung and suffers from buddy sour. Training her to be separated from her barn mates a little each day while on this has been so much easier! Her all-around demeanor is noticeably calmer. I love that there is a scoop included for easy measuring. I love that this herb-free formula includes magnesium and B vitamins to support my horse's nervous system. The pellets are small, and my horse is super finicky, but devoured them! I absolutely will continue to feed my horse these pellets and highly recommend them.

I love Smart paks. They are so easy to use, and I have found all of them valuable and to my horse’s liking. I’ve never had any trouble getting my horse to eat them, and my horses have always benefited from all the supplements from Smartpak that I have given them, including this one. It’s hard to evaluate just one short course of trial, but in the past, I’ve always used Smartpak and found them to be necessary and valuable and beneficial.
