SmartPak Smart & Simple Jiaogulan Powder Horse Supplement, 5-lb bag

My horses love this jiaogulan powder. It mixes into their grain for easy feeding. It provides 7000mg of jiaogulan per serving! I love that it helps w/ their blood flow/circulation which keeps their hooves and respiratory system healthy. So great in the hot summers! Jiaogulan has been long used in Chinese medicine to support nitric oxide production which is important for overall immune, cognitive and nervous system health! Highly recommend adding this supplement to your horses’ supplements!

Smells fresh and is a pretty enough green color. Came with a scoop to measure it out, so that's nice. The powder is very fine, and the pony coughed a bit the first time I gave her some with some dry pellets, but after that I started adding some liquid and/or oil supplements to help moisten it. Mixing a bit with a molasses sweetened feed may work well, too. They don't seem to be bothered too much by the flavor.

My mare has been coughing a lot lately. It is normally dusty here and lately we’ve had a lot of smoke coming from all directions, so we seem to get it no matter which way the wind is blowing. I added it to my mare’s breakfast. She did give it an extra sniff on the first day, but since then has eaten it without even noticing it. It is a very fine powder, ( looks like green flour) but I add water to the feed and hay pellets and mix it all together. Otherwise, it might just all fall to the bottom of the bucket. There is a small scoop enclosed. I had to dig through the bag to find it. You only give one scoop/day so I imagine this bag will last quite a while. It comes in a sturdy plastic bag, that has a zip-lock closure, but I transferred it to a bucket so it would be a little more rodent proof. I have not heard my mare cough since she started getting this, but we’ve also had some rain and the smoke has lessened so that has also helped.

Good quality product and well known brand. Unsure of how well this actually works, the dosage instructions may not be suitable for every horse and you have to know the correct way to find the dose that works for your horse. Takes time and trial and error.
