Questions & Answers

4 Customer Questions

How many sliders are in a bag?

Answer by ChewyAug 11, 2025
The 14-oz bag contains about 45 sliders per bag. The 25-oz bag contains about 75 sliders per bag.

Human grade food?

Answer by ChewySep 23, 2024
All of the whole food ingredients used are of the highest quality and are all human edible from humanely raised meat, bone and organ to the 100% organic produce. But, due to labeling restrictions, Smallbatch Pets cannot label the final product as human grade due to the bone content and the fact that their products are intended to be consumed by pets, not people.

I see the feeding amounts for a 5 lb dog and a 10 lb dog, but my tiny guy is 6.5 lbs, how many sliders would he get per day?

Answer by ChewyMay 06, 2026
For a 6.5 lb dog, a good estimate would be about 3 Smallbatch Pets Turkey Freeze-Dried Raw Sliders per day. The guideline for a 5 lb dog is 2 sliders, and for a 10 lb dog it's 4 sliders, so 3 sliders for 6.5 lbs fits right in the middle. This is just a starting point and can be adjusted based on your pup's activity level, body condition, and unique needs. For personalized advice, it's always best to check with a veterinarian.

How many ounces are each slider?

Answer by ChewyMay 27, 2025
Because the freeze-dried sliders are dry, they do not have an exact weight available. It can vary depending on the protein density, how much moisture is removed, etc. They estimate that each 1 ounce slider weighs approximately 7-9 grams, dry.

Notoriously Picky Eaters Love This!?

I started using Smallbatch Pets Turkey Sliders with our three dogs; Natrix, Bane, and Krampus, during a recent pet food transition. We decided to try these freeze-dried nuggets as a nutritious addition to their meals, particularly during our morning routine in the kitchen where they eagerly await breakfast. One of the standout moments was with Krampus, our notoriously picky eater. Normally, he turns his nose up at anything that doesn’t excite him, and without a topper, he completely ignores his regular kibble. However, to my surprise, when I sprinkled the Turkey Sliders over his usual food, he dove in immediately! This is a game-changer for us, as it’s rare to see him so enthusiastic about eating. The fact that these nuggets are non-GMO and made with turkey as the primary ingredient gives me peace of mind knowing I’m feeding my dogs a wholesome option. The freeze-dried format makes it super easy to store and serve. Just break off a few nuggets, rehydrate them if desired, or use them as a topper. I appreciate that I can use the nuggets as either a main meal (when rehydrated) or as a flavorful topper, which has helped increase Krampus’s overall food intake. Natrix and Bane also seem to love the taste, and it’s great to see all three of them eagerly finishing their meals. However, while I understand that high-quality ingredients come at a cost, I did find the price to be on the higher side for regular use. It’s something to consider for ongoing feeding. Also, If you want to serve them rehydrated, it does take a few minutes, which can be a bit inconvenient on busy mornings. Smallbatch Pets Turkey Sliders Non-GMO Adult Freeze-Dried Nuggets have been a fantastic addition to our dogs' diet, particularly for our picky eater, Krampus. The high-quality ingredients, convenience, and ability to entice even the fussiest of eaters make it worth every penny. I highly recommend these nuggets to any dog owner looking to enhance their pet's meals and overall eating experience!

I have been curious about trying a freeze dried product after considering home cooking for my dog and this looks like a great product. The ingredients list is great and looks very nutritious and species appropriate. The sliders are about 2 inches across. They arrived whole and intact. I decided to use them as a topper on my dog's regular kibble. The package said to crumble them up and then rehydrate them with warm water. I decided to use 4 sliders at each meal. The aroma is tolerably pleasant, though the look is not great as a human - my opinion isn't the one that truly counts. Brett is an altered male, red heeler mix weighing about 50 pounds and is 9 years old. He loves this product. He will lick the bowl clean, pause and double check the bowl is clean. It is definitely a choice I will continue to use as a topper on his meals.

We received Smallbatch Pets Turkey Sliders Freeze Dried dog food and upon arrival, it was a hit. Bailey liked the smell and wanted a taste immediately. For dinner I did as instructed, I broke 4 patties, added warm water and stirred until rehydrated. Bailey loved them. Unfortunately, later that night Bailey had stomach problems. I waited a week and I tried again to give Bailey the Smallbatch Pets Turkey Freeze Dried dog food. Again, I only gave him 4 patties. He loved his dinner but once again it caused another colitis flare. I really hate it because Bailey really liked the freeze dried patties. It must be too rich for his system. These freeze dried patties would be wonderful to have on a vacation. A dog with no GI problems would probably do well with this food. Unfortunately, I will not be able to buy for Bailey because of his colitis.

I love Smallbatch and will definitely continue buying it. However, my last three orders have arrived with most of the bags’ sliders crushed. The food itself is still completely usable, but it does create a significant amount of extra work since I have to weigh and measure portions and divide everything into single servings. One of the main reasons I switched entirely to ordering through Chewy was that this issue used to happen very infrequently compared with other delivery sources. Unfortunately, it now seems to be occurring more often with Chewy as well.

My dog seemed to love this product she gobbled it right down. It is not something I would personally buy because you need to think of it ahead of time and give it some time to rehydrate before you feed. I prefer the convenience of kibble. The smell is very off putting when it is rehydrating. I had to break the rounds up with a fork to get the water to soak in. I can see how people who travel and hike with dogs would like it because it doesn't weigh anything.

I really like everything about the ingredients in this food, especially that there are no synthetic vitamins. It does take a few minutes to crumble the sliders and rehydrate them (about 15 minutes) so if your pup is impatient when waiting for their meal this might not be a good choice. Even though there shouldn’t have been anything in this recipe that would set off my dog’s allergies I noticed that she started biting and chewing her paws very quickly sfter we switched her to this food. I changed her back to the food she was eating prior to the switch (Little Hunter-which she goes nuts for and they have an excellent customer service team!) and the paw chewing stopped immediately. Not sure why this food set off her allergies but it did. I do still consider it to be a great choice because there are no synthetic vitamins in it and it has very nutritious proteins & vegetables in it & that is something that’s very important to me as a mama to a dog that is a cancer survivor. I still would recommend it if someone asked me for a recommendation for a freeze dried raw food!

My Golden loves this freeze dried turkey! It's got all top quality ingredients- first ingredients are turkey neck, turkey, turkey livers, turkey gizzards and turkey hearts. It's like Thanksgiving came early. This food crumbles really easily by hand or fork and rehydrates well. The patties are a great size to be able to customize to portion needs. Highly recommend. Two paws up

We ordered the turkey flavor and my small-ish dog absolutely loved it. Upon opening it smelled fresh and delectable, for what it was. It is a puck size dry patties, as you can see in the photo. I could see how she was eating it, she regarded this food as an absolute treasure, and even better that this is something nutritious and healthy for her. The bag has a built in Ziploc seal. The expiration date is a year from the date of arrival and to keep it extra fresh I will be storing it in the fridge.

Crumbled mess

The bag of Turkey sliders contained many broken and crumbled sliders so now i have to figure out how much "crumble" to feed for the proper equivalent to slider.
