This is not a typical book about bird identification. There are pictures, but not nearly as many as you would find in a field guide. Instead, Sibley writes a lot about the feathers found on different birds and the structure of their wings and tails. In my opinion this book would be better suited to someone who already has a lot of knowledge about birds than a novice bird watcher. It would be an excellent book for a more experienced birder than myself.
