So when I switch to Roudybush do I stop providing a cottle bone and beak conditioners also? Also I use vitamin drops in the cockatiels water and give them fruit pellets along with crumbled egg so I stop all of this?

Answer by ChewyFeb 15, 2018
The food contains the needed vitamins a bird needs so you could stop adding the drops in the water but the other options can be used as treats, given every now and then.

When feeding your birds Roudybush, do you still give them the protein egg food?

Answer by ChewyJul 17, 2018
Use this diet when switching your bird from its old diet to Roudybush. Continue to feed to Adult birds that are not laying eggs or feeding chicks. If you have a bird that is a chronic egg - layer or a bird with a tendency to develop hypocalcaemia (like African Greys), mix 2/3 Maintenance with 1/3 High - Energy Breeder to supply more calcium and vitamin D3. Do not give additional vitamin or mineral supplements.

How much SALT is in this food??

Great For Seed-Addicted Birds

My cockatiel was extremely seed addicted. He won't eat fresh food, barely eats dehydrated food, and is EXTREMELY picky about what he eats. He got very very sickly from constantly only eating seeds, so I started looking for a pellet diet he would actually eat. He took to this food almost immediately. I also mixed it with Nutri Berries and a piece of Avi-cake to help him take to pellets more quickly. Now I only give those as treats and he eats Roudybush readily. He still won't eat fresh foods, but at least he isn't dealing with hepatic lipidosis anymore. I celebrate the little things lol

When I started with birds 3 years ago I asked my avian vet his opinion of Roudybush. He enthusiastically endorsed it. That was enough for me. Using his suggestion I had my budgies switched to Roudybush Crumble in about 2 weeks. They love it and there's no waste like you get with seed mixes. I don't have to mess with vitamin or mineral supplements. The only other food the budgies get are occasional treats. My GCC likes variety so she gets Crumble + Small pellets + some fruits and veggies to keep her entertained. I now have 10 budgies and not one was difficult to transition to Roudybush.

Great product

I have a young love bird which I ordered on line from a breeder in Florida. She didn't come with much information and not 100% sure she is even a girl. All she wanted to eat was seeds and birdie bread I would make for her. I was also giving her other brands of pellets that she would take a bite but really didn't care for. So I ordered Roudy Bush crumbles. To my amazement she jumped right in. She loves this food. So this will be our food from now on.

First just wanted to start off by saying that any bird going from seed to pellet requires a transition period. My cockatiel is a picky eater. I was recommended this brand by our vet and at first she wouldn’t eat it. Which I believe was because of the different texture. So I softened it with water and put some of her seed in it. Then she ate it. From then on I moved onto to giving her just the pellets softened with water and then just the roudy bush by itself not softened. She now loves it so much! She used to eat mullet and seeds and some of my own dinner, now she eats only the roudy bush pellets. We haven’t given her mullet as much (only as a treat as opposed to every day/ every other day) and she doesn’t eat my dinner as much anymore which is believe is due to the pellets filling her and giving her WAY more nutrients than her seeds used to. Seeds are potato chips for birds which I only learned after seeing my vet, my bird needs good food to fuel her engine. Her plumage has also become much brighter and she gained a little more (much needed) weight after the transition.

I’m thankful for the crumbles because I’ve tried several different brands of pellets, and this is the only brand my parakeets will eat. They like the smaller size, it’s easier for them with their tiny beaks. They must like the taste because they eat it up. I had two parakeets that were still on seed, and the vet thought they had liver disease because their beaks were overgrown. I was having to take them to the vet every month to get their beaks trimmed. Once they converted to these pellets and got off the seed, their beaks went back to normal and they’re in great health.

The RoudyBush food is fantastic! My birds were on a seed diet and got addicted to them, and this food was great to transition my 2 budgies from seed to pellet. My birds love it! One of my budgies caught on right away like if he had had it before. He immediately went for it. My other budgie is still hanging on a bit to the seeds but she is also having the new food. I definitely say that it is a great food for birds that are addicted to seed. I wish I would have gotten this a long time ago.

My parakeet started off by eating plan old seeds. Seeds that many people recommend to me. But one time I took my buggie to the vet and she told me that seeds are like McDonald’s to birds. She also said buggies loves to eat pallets. So I got her this style of pallets and she loves them. Lady will throw out the seeds into the floor and will just eat the pallets. It took me only two days for her to completely love it. We all know buggies take two weeks to get use to anything new. So I will recommend this to other parakeet owners.
