My dogs go crazy for these!

I’ve been giving my two dogs these chews a couple of times a week for the last two years and they absolutely love them. They may be a little bit safer than a normal

I’ve been giving my two dogs these chews a couple of times a week for the last two years and they absolutely love them. They may be a little bit safer than a normal rawhide chew, but still have hide (beef ear and hide), so be certain to watch them while they chew these as they can get pieces stuck in the mouth or throat. My large dog hasn't had that happen, but my corgi on a rare occasion has (I always give her the smallest ones in the bag), but she has always been able to get the piece unstuck quickly without my assistance. Dogs love to chew and these don’t smell as bad as bulky sticks—another reason I use these. I have these on my auotship!

My GSD loooves these treats. We went through 6-7 bags of them with absolutely no issues. Then I started noticing her being lethargic, loose stools, no interest in food so I stopped all treats altogether until she became well again. When she was feeling better I introduced only one treat at a time and realized it was the bully slices making her sick. Then was within a week of Redbarn doing a recall in their bully sticks.. so unfortunately I had to toss the bag plus another unopened one as well. I’m sure she would continue eating them because she absolutely loved them, I just can’t trust them anymore.

Let’s get it straight this is rawhide. The name is misleading and I don’t like that. However I did a lot of research and contacted the company and they claim to only use the unsplit cheek and face hide which is safer and healthier. All of the hide comes from Mexican cattle according to their customer service people (wish it was USA but you can’t have it all - especially for this low price). However they were not able to tell me how long the hide sits in brine before it gets processed (which can sometimes be months and the longer it sits the nastier and lower quality it is). I wish they were more transparent about that. At any rate, my dogs have had no trouble passing this. This took one of my dogs 40 minutes to chew (a new record) by slowly softening it with her saliva before chewing and swallowing (as it is meant to be chewed). However it took my other dog 1 minute tops. She just broke it into chips while it was still brittle and started hastily chomping them up and swallowing before she had thoroughly chewed because they were small enough to swallow at that point. That really scared me. She was fine afterwards but I haven’t given one to that dog since. So, the jury is still out on this stuff I guess.

I have 3 different breeds - one a senior, one is adult, one is 1yr old. Out of the 3, two of them are finicky eaters with both their treats and food - one not so much. All of them LOVE this product. They general love the "Redbarn" brand bully sticks, but my senior dog mostly carries the bigger thicker chews around the house, not chewing it because she has trouble chewing it comfortably. The slices make this much easier for her to chew and digest. I particularly like this item and would prefer it to the larger size chew sticks because they still get a good workout on their jaws and teeth, but without excessive work to the dog's teeth and jaw breaking it down. Nor do I have to worry about short pieces not being consumed or getting caught up in their throats causing them to regurgitate or cough. I have tried other chews, but all 3 of my dogs love the taste of Redbarn the best. This is the perfect solution for my dogs, but I would certainly recommend this for any older, small to mid size breed.

My step mom introduced my pup to these and he seemed to like them, so I bought them myself. I’m not quite sure what it is, but every time I give these to the dogs, 3/4 of them become possessed. They are obsessed with them. My pup has not shown any aggression, until these. He really really really loves these lol.

There are seems to be mixed opinions on whether beef hide is healthy. Since he isn’t ingesting large chunks with these slices, we have chosen to allow him to enjoy them as a treat once a week. He definitely gets excited when it’s time to get one!
