Can someone tell me the size in inches (since that's how they measure portions) of the four different roll options? The 4oz, 10.5oz, the 2lb 3oz and the 4lb rolls?

Answer by ChewyMay 08, 2019
The 4 ounce roll measures approximately 4 inches long x 1.5 inches wide x 1.5 inches high. The 10.5 ounce roll measures approximately 6.5 inches long x 2 inches wide x 2 inches high. The 2 pound 3 ounce roll measures approximately 7 inches long x 3 inches wide x 3 inches high. The 4 pound roll measures approximately 14 inches long x 3 inches wide x 3 inches high.

Does this food have to be refrigerated before opening ?

Answer by ChewyMar 23, 2024
While unopened, you can safely store rolled food in your pantry until the expiration date stamped on the package.

Are these meant to be used to stuff the filled bones after they've been hollowed out?

Answer by ChewyOct 20, 2017
This can be used as a complete and balanced meal, a protein supplement to dry food, as a treat, training tool, or as an aid for administering medications.

How do you store this if used as training rewards?

Answer by ChewyJul 10, 2019
Once food roll has been opened, it's recommended to store roll in the refrigerator for optimal freshness up to 1-2 weeks. You can also freeze rolls by simply slicing portions into sections and wrap individually before freezing. Thaw at room temperature before serving.

I bought Redbarn Naturals Beef for treat training a puppy. I partly chose it because it is advertised as an all life stages food. However, the roll I received actually indicates that it would not be suitable as a feed for puppies as the label says it is "formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance of adult dogs." I am glad I bought it as it works well for treat training - my pup likes it, and it is easy to use - I am simply more cautious about how much I use per day. I agree with other reviews that it has a lot of salt and sugar content, but for treat training it is great.

This was a gift from the heavens from our dog trainer: he would bring a bag of crumbly little cubes to our house for each session and our Lab puppy went crazy for them. I can get our headstrong Lab to learn anything when I wave this in front of his nose! If a piece of this is available to him, he will 100% ignore his cat brother – a miracle! The food has a texture similar to a less-sticky cookie dough – very easy to shape into little cubes for the treat bag AND it is fantastic in concealing pills, tablets, meds! The food itself is smelly and it gets my dog's attention during training. When you buy a new roll, it's very easy to slice and dice into tiny cubes and freeze small portions to use for later. When one bag gets low, I pull a new batch out of the freezer and leave it in the fridge to thaw overnight – it’s ready to go. Using a handful of cubes per day (meds, some training), the smaller-sized roll lasts maybe 4 months. I've never used this as his primary food source for meals, but as a training treat I highly recommend. If you aren't freezing, definitely store in an air-tight resealable bag in the fridge so the product doesn't dry out and turn into dust. We buy the beef but he loves the lamb flavor, too! I’m grateful for this product and tell a lot of people about it!

BUYERS BEWARE REDBARN REMOVES ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THEIR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA!!! DOG OWNERS BEWARE!!! Sucrose 4th ingredient. An artificial sweetner doesn't belong in any pets food. This caused my dog to become Sucrose Intolerant and caused to become insulin resistant and has also effected her liver. My dog is knocking on deaths door after feeding her this food for like year now. She ended up crashing a week before last and was rushed to the vet to receive medical attention and this morning went back for a full panel bloodwork cause since starting this food she started drinking gallons of water a day and peeing alot. Talked with a chewy vet as well and they said Sucrose was a 4th ingredient and it had alot of sugar not a little and they use it to intise your dog to want to eat this food as it smells awful. We called Redbard they claim they use it for shelf life stable. No other pet food even the worst brands don't use Sucrose as a preservative shelf life. Fresh Pet and other pet food companies have Seni-moist rolls and none have Sucrose an artificial sweetner in any of them. This is completely unacceptable for this pet food company to add such an ingredient and large amounts at that. This food is very expensive and you would think it would be a healthy food but its just the opposite. Now were in over our heads with vet bills. DON'T BUY THIS FOOD IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOGS!

My little maltese is undergoing chemo following cancer surgery and I have struggled to find a food she would eat and that would put weight on her. Red Barn is the answer! I joked with her doctor that she might need to go on a diet. She looks forward to her meals and seems to think she is getting the equivalent to a hot fudge sundae. I am so glad that for the time we have left she is eating well and energetic. Thank you Red Barn!

My two miniature poodles love both the Redbarn Chicken and Redbarn Beef Dog Food Rolls. They ring their bells (hanging on the door handle of the back door) at 8:00 am and 4:30 pm each day to remind me that it is time to eat. (I haven't told them that Redbarn Dog Food Rolls not only taste good, but that they are also good for them.). With one click to order and fast delivery, Chewy.com assures they won't run out of their favorite food.

I purchased a 2 roll bundle of the beef. My dogs loved it. I was using it as a topper and treats. However something made me look at dog advisor and they only give 2.5-3 stars which is terrible. The most controversial ingredients are sodium erythorbate (it is not an AAFCO defined ingredient), iron oxide (iron rust), wheat flour and sucrose (table sugar). I've not seen Redbarn address these concerns anywhere so I will no longer be feeding this to my dogs. It's a shame because as a topper it was fairly affordable and I really wanted to give them a good raw food alternative.

Years ago I found this product. My dog Henry is ten now and has eaten this Red Barn product in combination with his dry food for most of his life. While it is more expensive than many foods, one is buying less water than canned food and there are no cans to throw away. The nutrition seems to be there since the vet calls him the healthiest dog that walks into his office every year. I will continue to feed him this product. He's done remarkably well on it.

A friend recommended the Red Barn Beef to me. We both have Pomeranians. I cut it up in small bite size pieces and mix with their kibble. They love it. You can also use it as a training treat by cutting it in tiny pieces and offering it as a treat. It didn't hurt my Poms tummies either as they have sensitive stomachs. I highly recommend you give this product a try.

My pups have always been fussy eaters. I cut a ½ inch slice, cut it into chunks and split it between both of my dogs kibble. They gobble the food down. My girlfriend is an elderly small dog rescue. She has many difficulties at meal time. I suggested Redbarn Food Roll and her dogs are eating. I think Redbarn has hit it our of the park. Homerun.

Ok, so...apparently this stuff smells really good even through the package. I got the smallest one, so it's about a meal's worth for a dog. I took it out of the box and put it on the counter. My wife saw it on the counter and pushed it back to the back splash. JOEY, my black lab mix, obviously smelled it, then stood up on his hind legs so he could SEE it, and somehow, some way, GOT IT...and ate the whole thing, wrapper, metal brads on the ends, and all. I arrived in the kitchen shortly after and had no proof that he ate it, other than the lack of its existence on the kitchen counter, and Joey looking at me, licking his chops. So I told my wife and together we panicked. The wrapper wasn't a huge concern since this thing was small, but the metal brads on either end, uh oh. Long story short, constant monitoring for 24 hours...he seemed fine the whole time and approximately 22 hours (and 3 poops later) there it was. I had to put on some disposable gloves to fully search through "it", but I found the whole wrapper and both metal brads...it all passed. Whew. So yah, if you get this...BE CAREFUL and don't leave it anywhere your doggie might be able to reach it. I've lived and learned.
