Is there a way to give it to my cat without her eating around it? Because I don't think she either eats the food when we put it mixed in with her wet food or she eats around it? She seems to be taking after her late sister with being picky, but not as bad.

Answer by CherieEOct 23, 2025
My 2 cats had different takes on this stuff. 1 eats it if in wet food, the other dry food, however she stopped eating all together now , so I'm having to stop dosing at all. And now she's showing signs of discomfort , so trying to figure out if it's this stuff or something else.

Instead of placing on or in wet food, can this be mixed with water and given by syringe?

Answer by TiffMay 07, 2026
My anxious boy refuses to eat or drink this, and believe me, I’ve tried every possible way of disguising it. As a last resort, I mixed it with water and used a syringe to squirt it in his mouth. He’s not a fan, but he doesn’t fight me either. I make sure to give him a small amount and give him time to swallow before giving him more. It usually takes 3-4 small squirts for him to get the entire 5cc from the syringe. I only mix half of a sachet in 4cc of water, since that’s a dose that works for him. You might have to adjust the amount of water if you want to administer the whole sachet or it might be too thick to suck up in the syringe. Hope this helps!

Can this be given to cats who take 1 ml of Gabapentin every 8-12 hours?

Do you think it will help my cat who is scared of every sound ? He’s a long hair and will not let you groom him . Anyone have any issues with grooming and this helped

My picky cat actually takes this! And it works!

My cat is a complete and total demon spawn- he’s been on Prozac several times and it’s never worked. I tried this as a last resort in combo with pheromone collars (not sure these do anything LOL, we’ve tried before) and one other calming supplement and I’m so so happy with his attitude change. He is more open to strangers entering our home- no more hissing, growling, swatting, etc. He no longer chases/stalks/attacks my other cat and instead sits near her during play time and he even groomed her a bit today!!! He’s not peeing on the floors anymore (not a medical issue, that’s been ruled out four times hahaha and my two cats have 6 litter boxes), he’s not trying to actively hurt my parents dogs, my dad, or my brother. This is a true night and day difference and I’m so so happy that I’ve found something that’s helped so quickly. When I say NOTHING has worked in the past, I mean it. I’ve tried SSRIs, behaviorists, pheromone diffusers, separating him from other pets, switching his diet, providing more litterboxes/food/water, looking at potential medical problems, etc. My vet literally told me that he’s just naturally a not-nice cat so to have a supplement that he ACTUALLY eats (and enthusiastically at that!) and that truly helps him is already life changing for him, my other pets, and my family

I contacted Purina directly to confirm that this supplement is safe for cats with chronic kidney disease, given my concern about calcium levels. They confirmed it is CKD-friendly. Swiss is an anxious cat who startles easily and stays on high alert. While a prescription medication would likely be stronger, I wanted to try a gentler and more affordable option first. This calming probiotic has helped take the edge off her anxiety. She seems less stressed overall and starts the day calmer rather than immediately reactive. A good, budget-friendly option for cats with mild to moderate anxiety.

Our Vet recently recommended Calming Care for my 18.5 year old kitty. He has progressing kidney disease & is going to the litter box hourly. The doctor has seen good responses from this product for calming the cat’s stress from this illness. I just started using it & he readily eats it. If he turns away from a fresh plate of food & I sprinkle a bit of the powder he eats with no problem. This is important to maintain his weight. I’ll keep using it & see if there are additional positive effects. I also appreciate the Chewy discount with autoship.

This stuff is worth the price. My cat was declawed by her previous owner :( this has resulted in her having extreme anxiety and inappropriate elimination. I was at my wits end trying everything to help make her comfortable and prevent the peeing, and nearly surrendered her because of how bad it got, and my vet recommended this stuff. I hesitated because of the price, but figured it was worth the shot. It took about a month to notice the full effects, but she’s so much more confident and comfortable it’s so beautiful to see! The only other thing that worked was gabapentin, but I felt it dulled her personality too much. This stuff is a miracle!

I have an elderly female cat who for some reason is picked on by all my other cats. We are addressing that as best we can, but in the meantime, she is nervous all the time and I think it's really affecting her health. So I thought I would try this product, as a friend recently told me her vet recommended it. I haven't been using it long enough yet to tell a huge difference, but I am hopeful, and she doesn't seem to mind it sprinkled in her food at all. So I think it's definitely worth a shot and it is affordable. I would buy again.

I will now forever back this product. We went from having cats destroying our old rental with spraying, and hissing and over grooming, not even being able to be in the same room to now all are able to be together, no spraying, hair growing back, and actually having peace and happiness. I can’t thank our vet enough to recommend this. We were about to give the one cat amitriptyline but because of this product we no longer need to.

My kitty has been on this supplement for several years now. He's always been kind of tightly wound and overstimulated. After his first (and last) stay at a boarding facility, he became so stressed he was straining to urinate. Vet found no blockage or infection, but recommended I try this product to lower his overall stress level. I supplemented the calming care with prescription calming food, since this product takes around 6 weeks to show any effect, and Pluto was in the clear. Because he is so tightly wound, I've kept him on this product for years, and haven't had a urinary issue with him since! It hasn't changed his personality at all, didn't make him more cuddly, but I think it's taken off a bit of the edge and allowed him to actually settle and relax rather than pacing around all of the time.

My 13/14 year old cat was not dealing well with a new addition, and my partner’s vet tech cousin suggested trying this. Her attitude is literally night and day after adding this to her food for a month. She is scratching her post again, walking around with (her amount) of confidence, and actually exploring again. We were so sad to see how angry and unlike herself she has been these last few months and to have my little Nubbies acting like her old self (still cantankerous but loving) has been the greatest change of 2025 so far. If your kitty seems like they are not coping with a move, a new animal or new person, give this stuff a try. You will see a change!

My cat has struggled with stress and over-grooming for the past two to three years. She is extremely anxious and becomes very aggressive at the vet, so getting her properly examined has been almost impossible. At her worst, she had lost most of the fur on her belly and inner thighs, and the hair loss was starting to move up toward her chest. It was really difficult to watch. A mobile vet recommended trying the Purina Calming (COM) Probiotics. I also decided to add WetLactin (omega oil from Nutramax) to her routine. I mix the probiotic into her wet food once every morning along with the WetLactin. After about three weeks, I finally started seeing real improvement. Her fur is growing back, the over-grooming has slowed down a lot, and she seems more at ease overall. She is now on her second box, and I will continue purchasing this product. Whether it is the probiotics alone or the combination with the WetLactin, something is finally working. After years of struggling, this has made a big difference. If your cat deals with chronic stress or over-grooming, this is definitely worth trying.

I bought this upon recommendation of my cat’s veterinarian. My oldest female cat had become fearful of one of my younger cats who enjoys harassing her. The roles were reversed when the younger cat was a small kitten and she was fearful of the older cat who constantly threatened her. When the younger cat grew to be an adult she started intimidating and at times becoming very aggressive toward my old girl. It got so bad that the older cat did not want to leave her safe spaces and was not socializing with the rest of the household. After starting her on the Purina Calming Care supplement and also using some cat pheromone products she started coming out of her preferred room and actually standing up to the younger cat when confronted. After a period of time I was able to stop the supplement and now the cats can at least be around each other and my older one can hold her own without being so fearful. I really saw a positive change with the Calming Care.
