I bought these to hopefully help get some build up off that has accumulated on my pups teeth that brushing isn’t taking off. Looking at the ingredients it says that it’s made of primary “beef hide”, which a quick Google search said it’s pretty much the same as rawhide. I’ve heard so many horror stories of rawhides that were given to dogs and they either choked or the rawhide created an intestinal blockage. I’ve never given my pups rawhide but being trusting in the Pro Plan Vet products I decided to give it a try, with supervision. Long story short, my Golden Retriever did in fact choke on this and I had to take a venture into her throat to fish it out. Needless to say the dental chews were immediately thrown out. The reason I’m giving this two stars is because it did take a little of the tarter off of her teeth, with just half of the chew. I’m not going to purchase these again, but if you do please give it to them in supervision because it doesn’t take long for something horrible to happen.

I had this delivered around noon and when I got home about 6 hours later the box was covered in ants. The chews are just sitting inside the packaging not wrapped in anything airtight. Not knowing this I sprayed ant killer in the chewy box. When I opened the purina chews box there were dead ants inside at the bottom. Needless to say I threw there they chews away since I wasn’t taking any chances that the chemical got onto the chews. Poor packaging by purina and chewy if they knew about this issue.

My dog is on an Rx diet (Purina hydrolyzed) due to sensitivity to chicken and other proteins. He is very limited in what he can have as treats. He normally gets the small freeze dried beef liver bits and also dried sweet potato because they are one ingredient items. For the longest time I only gave him pieces of his food as treats. I decided to try these dental chews because they have a limited ingredient list along with having some hydrolyzed protein listed on the package. My dog really likes them and it keeps him happy and chewing for nearly an hour. I only give him one every few days, but he's happy and so am I.

I thought that the brand would be more responsible than this because they also make the dog food that my vet recommended.. but I seriously can’t understand why they think that your dog needs it to look appealing in order to eat it. I just wash off the““beefy”looking texture to get the yellow number five off and then my dog enjoys the chew.

Our puppy just loves these Purina dental chews. They were recommended to us by our Vet and they have really helped with the Puppy teeth and constant chewing. Just be sure to watch for them to get small and lose their brown color. We always throw away the smaller piece as it is not good for them to swallow whole.

My pittie goes crazy when she hears the rattling of these in the box. I've been trying to find something that would occupy my dog during my morning work calls that were about an hour long. All other long lasting items I either don't feel comfortable giving her or she'll devour them in 5 minutes. These are a bit pricey for what she now does with them. These worked great at first but now she only licks off the flavor coating on the outside, maybe chews them a little, then tosses them around like they are a toy. I had gathered up 20 or more she has all over the house. I've saved them and now occasionally give her one and she doesn't realize it's an old one, well maybe she does and is just amusing me, idk, she a character for sure). I could no longer afford paying for these just to have her licking off the coating and tossing them in air. She tends to have an occassional upset tummy due to someone (don't know who it could be) giving her too many treats but these don't bother her at all. To add she's a picky pittie, so if she loves them, most dogs will. Recommend giving them a try.

Seriously? This has to be a test run or something?

They’re nearly $10 a box, but only come with 7-8 treats that you CANNOT break in half easily. We had to use a serrated pocket knife tool thing to cut them in half. Also the box says to give your dog TWO treats a day? So it’d last a whole two days here. I really like Pro Plan Veterinary Diets treats, and kibble, but this has got to be a sample or a freakin joke. The only reason it got a stars is because my dogs seem to like them, and it took longer than two seconds to inhale. 1/5 don’t waste your money. Also, they don’t expire until January 2024, so really how healthy could these be for our dogs? Teaches me to not blindly order from a company because I love their other products I guess. Well stick with PPPVD lite snackers and Royal Canine Satiety treats all the way.

It got stuck while he was eating it. Like it was too sticky and he couldn’t swallow. He stopped breathing for a bit and it was really scary. I had to pick him up by his hindquarters and luckily gravity helped him get it out. I will not continue to give these to him as it really freaked me out.
