What type of good bacteria is provided in this?

Answer by VeronicaMay 30, 2026
It has a strain of beneficial lactic acid bacteria called Enterococcus faecium, based upon my research. My cats often get antibiotics and we’ve given it to them while on them. Little tip: if your cat is like ours and won’t eat it mixed into food, get Nacho brand beef bone broth, suck up about 3 1/2ml into a cup, stir in the fortiflora really well, and suck it up into a syringe. My picky eater actually wanted more!

Should you give your elderly cat a full packet first time

Does this have any iodine substances in it? (Concerned due to cat with hyperthyroidism.)

Can you give this with the flora packets at the same time ?

This probiotic supplement has been the only thing to permanently remedy my cat’s chronic diarrhea. I tried other digestive supplements and sensitive digestion foods, which either didn’t work at all or would stop working after a few days. I felt so bad for my poor kitty. I wish I tried these probiotics sooner and kick myself for thinking they wouldn’t work. I sprinkle one sachet onto my cat’s daily wet food meal and he eats it up. Within 2-3 days of starting the probiotics his “movements” were formed and they have continued to get better over the last ~20-30 days. I will absolutely buy this wonderful product long-term if it continues to work.

Buffy is a rescue older cat (13 yrs?)that I have had for 3 years. He had many digestive and bowel issues when I found him. Over time I have found a bowel/constipation/tummy routine along with regular brushing that has stabilized his issues and he absolutely loves it. Every evening he gets 1 capsule opened of unflavored Metamucil, 1/4 teaspoon Mirilax, 1/2 pack of FortiFlora and 1/2 liquid tuna treat mixed with a little water to a slurry. This has produced a daily soft formed stool with much decrease in vomit. I have used FortiFlora to assist with other medication administration over the years. Of course check with your vet before any home remedies.

I took in Elsa, a beautiful but very gassy cat, last November as a stray, and the vet informed me she needed probiotics, but they are prohibitively expensive when purchased from the vet. I am so glad you offered the same item at a more reasonable price. She truly needs probiotics every day.

This helped my senior cat feel a little more normal before he passed. He ate it for about a month and then he stopped eating it and most other food, but that was because he was ill. I’m really convinced this food helped him not be in pain the last month he was around

I first started using this when I had a boy with GI issues. Along with special food, this helped him keep his stools more formed. When he died, I quit using it, until my old Calico, Ayami, started having runny stools from the antibiotics I was giving her for a UTI. Between this and something from the Vet, got her straightened out. However, she is very susceptible to loose stools, and she's 17. So I give her some every night in her wet food. My son's cat, also a calico, Lorelei, is getting up there, so I put it in her food as well now. She gets pukey, so it seems to help her a lot.

My cat has been taking theophylline for her asthma which has this bad smell, which translates to her litter box later on. This probiotic not only helps to mask that smell, but it also entices her to eat her wet food more, preventing constipation from dehydration. My other cat also just started using it for his tummy upsets! Thank you!

My kittens were already on this when I got them, so i figured I'd continue. They both have occasional issues with loose stool, and I've realized as I've made slight adjustments that this really does help. I was splitting 1 pack over the course of a day for them (aww one just came to sit in my lap!) at first, then i tried giving them half a pack each only at breakfast, and now I'm basically just sprinking some on each meal and using between 1 and 2 packs a day (aww the other one just came and sat on top of the first one in my lap!). I could tell a huge difference when they weren't getting it with every meal- a lot more inconsistent stools. Very happy with this for now, although I've become aware that there may be better all around probiotics for cats (with more types of bacteria for their gut- I believe this just has one type). If you have a kitten with loose stool, definitely this is worth a try, and I'd say some with every meal from my experience.

Boomer is an elderly kitty with chronic bouts of coughing up and then Throwing up. When I adopted him from the shelter he was extremely underweight and had a parasite. We got thru the parasites and he seems to be happier now. He has been taking this for about a week now and had only thrown up one time. Hopefully it is helping him.
