Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Hydra Care Liver Flavored Liquid Supplement for Cats, 2.65-oz pouch, case of 12

My cat suffered a urinary tract blockage, which put him in the hospital and cost us over $7000. We discovered that he had been drinking very little, and like a lot of cats he was on a dry food diet. The vet told us it was imperative that he consume some sort of liquid; water, broth, etc., every day to keep this from happening again. We also have him on a special urinary care food ($$$). We have 3 other cats, so everyone eats this food. Hydra care actually got Woody to start drinking water. I was so relieved to find this. I actually give him half a packet a day and mix it with water. It isn't my favorite smell, but he loves it and he's even drinking plain water more regularly. I have this on auto ship so that we never run out. Additionally, in the summer, I give our feral cats this, to encourage them to stay hydrated. I never want to go through that type of medical crisis again. I highly recommend this - it's not cheap, but its not terribly expensive, and it could save your kitties life.

I have been ordering this product for several months after my 10y calico female became impacted and required $$$$ of vet care. Since using this product, she’s had no further issues. I also give it to my other 2 cats: 5y tabby female; 17y orange male. The packaging (old and now new) says to give a pouch (almost 2oz) per 5#. I give 1/2oz twice daily to each regardless of weight and they do very well. I tried using the recommended dosage but had to reduce it dramatically after issues with runs. When this product went out of stock in Chewy, I contacted Purina Pro Plan Vet Direct directly and was able to order it from them (once Chewy has it back in stock, I’ll order there). The new packaging reduces the amount per pouch (see picture) which makes the per oz price higher but my kitties love this too much for me not to give it to them. From what they “tell” me, my kitties have also noticed a change in taste, smell, and flavor so they don’t like it quite as much but they still line up for it twice a day!!

This product has been a key product in our pets’ health and our rescue pets as well. Think of it as a Gator-ade type drink but for cats to help them hydrate better. I was caught off guard last night as I was splitting a packet into two bowls and I grossly miscalculated, or so I thought. The newest shipment has gone from 3 oz packs to 2.6 oz packs, also they have always been produced in France, but not anymore. The ingredient list is the same, slightly different order, so I don’t know if it’s a slightly different version as well. The cats did still enjoy it when they tasted it, I think they picked up on my suspicious energy at first and were hesitant as well. I just feel like I’m being shorted a pack and a half from each box now. The product description on Chewy is accurate with the smaller size packets, but I didn’t realize that until I looked back.

As a cat colony caretaker, I am always in need of anything considered as a bribe to these cats out there!!! It drives me insane any are outside to fend for themselves as it is! BUT when any chance I may get to get them into rescue? I have to have them used to the good stuff in life and be able to bribe them! And while these cats are extemely clever?They also are toddlers with paws instead of hands and each have some sort of weakness. THIS pouch brings Barbie running! My outside colont moo kitty will see or hear this or churu ? and wala!!!! Instantly she will do almost anything! When she needed help? I was able to retrap her and brought her home to help from a traumatic occurance where she thought her new life may be living in a scary storm drain as some creepy clown! I had bought a toy that sounds like a clown and pleaded with her that she must have telepathically misunderstood being that I had referred to her as my nickname has been and may have inadvertantly given her my twin status in too many ways!! She is home now, adored. With me. Ofcourse. Now i am at four inside cats and rent. This hydropack is part of that reason too! . It also hydrates the colony and perks up the ones i think looks like they had a rough night! I love having these on hand! She now is out of her paris Hilton solitary confinement cage of fluffy stuff! And one of the boys! louning in my catio patio upstairs and why I stayed living here ! She is happy, And extra loving and I can even pet her now! She has become even more friendly than my other two boys from there that shy away more. BUT this and the other packets stash i have def helps all around! Shy or outgoing, The good stuff like Purina Packs are a must have on hand!!
