Purina Pro Plan Sport High Protein Chicken & Rice Entrée Wet Dog Food, 13-oz can, case of 12

My dog is now 16 years old and she cannot digest kibble anymore (Purina One, Salmon and Rice for Sensitive Skin and Stomach). She weighs 65 pounds now (weighed 83 pounds most of her life). My vet said to give her what she can eat without throwing it back up. She can eat rice with lean ground turkey with some low sodium chicken broth. I thought I would try adding a wet dog food that was higher in protein and after doing some online research tried the Purina Pro Plan High Protein Chicken and Rice. I give her a half cup daily (a quarter cup morning and dinner time) on top of the rice and ground turkey. She has been on it for about 6 weeks now and has more energy than before and keeps it down. I thought maybe this would be of interest to others who have an older dog as well.

I feed almost all dry food, but sometimes after a day hunting in the field I want to make sure my dog eats enough to recover from the activity. Now I have something that he will eat to provide hydration and nutrition while also giving him a special reward for his hard work! I’m so happy to make him happy with a wet food from pro plan sport since that’s the dry food he eats and I know the quality of nutrition is top notch! Highly recommend.

I got this wet food as a topper to be fed in combination with 30/20 Salmon & Rice kibble formula. I love how Purina Pro Plan treats my active Siberian Husky; but, sometimes he isn’t thrilled to eat the kibble by itself. I started added a tbsp of wet food to a cup of kibble and now he licks the bowl! The consistency adds hydration to his meals and every can had been great quality.
