Both cats loved it!

After a scary vet urgent-care ER visit, our little tuxedo cat Sherlock was diagnosed with urinary crystals and some kidney issues. So, we had to change the cat food and treats in our house. After consulting with our vet, even though only Sherlock has any kidney/urinary issues, we decided to have both cats eat the new specialized food, as they are both neutered males. Now, the tricky part was finding food that was going to be good for Sherlock that Noodles would also eat. Sherlock is not a very picky eater- as long as it isn't pate, he will eat it. On the other hand, Noodles is a VERY finicky eater. He also hates any pate, but is so fussy about his wet food. So, much to my surprise, Noodles LOVES this wet food! We are so happy to find something that will be both a healthy benefit to Sherlock, and a Noodles-approved yummy dinner option. :) We give the cats specialized dry food for their breakfast, and then wet food for their dinner. We are on a quest to find at least one other wet food that they both like, as we really want them to have some variety in their dinners. But for now, the Purina ProPlan urinary health chicken entree is amazing. We are so grateful that Purina makes the chicken flavor in a chunky/gravy meal instead of pate. And also so glad that Chewy sells the chicken flavor on its own, as the Purina ProPlan urinary care variety pack will not work for us since our boys HATE pate. Thank you Purina for making this!!

No prescription needed

My cat was having some urinary tract/kidney issues for a little while, we were back and forth to the vet which seemed to have made it worse. I tried to do everything the vet told me and I switched him on to a prescription food for a little while. I had figured considering the prescription was for food it would’ve lasted a while but I was wrong. The vet actually seemed upset and kept calling me stating that they wanted to see him every couple of weeks to renew the prescription. It felt like a complete scam while I was just trying to do my best for my cat. It was costing about $400-$500 every time I went in, and I’m sorry, but I don’t make that kind of money. I also felt like it was taking more of a toll on my poor kitty having him go in so often. I finally found this food that is almost exactly the same, no prescription needed, it seems more fresh, and my kitties love it more than the other. Prescription food is actually a very shameful way to make money and it doesn’t quite feel like it’s necessarily in the animal’s best interest. Just the vet and company’s wallet. Thankful to find this food and I will keep my sweet kitty on it for the foreseeable future

Proplan UT brought My cat back from the brink

My cat just turned 10 and after three recent visits to the ER and over $1300 in vet bills, I was faced with expensive surgery unless he responded to a special diet

My cat just turned 10 and after three recent visits to the ER and over $1300 in vet bills, I was faced with expensive surgery unless he responded to a special diet and meds. My vet recommended Royal Canin SO (as they ALL do) and like a fool I spent over $55 on a case. Caney wouldn't eat a bit of it! Naturally I was worried that unless I could persuade him to eat the special food, he would continue to get sick or worse. After reading the reviews on Proplan UT formula, I decided to give it a try and ordered a case from Chewy. At first it wasn't a great hit but with a little patience and a few bribes of regular food mixed in, he gradually became accustomed to it. Now Caney is the first to come for dinner loves his Proplan UT! He also gets a little Solid Gold Berry Balance powder supplement mixed into the food (cranberry is an excellent supplement for cats with UT issues) and various brands of UT formula chews as treats. Thankfully, with this diet and supplement regimen, Caney is now doing very well and he's a happy cat. From dire straits to almost normal... I can hardly believe it and am very thankful. He does NOT like the dry formula so eats the same dry as the other cats (Proplan Sensitive Skin and Stomach lamb and rice formula). Caney and I highly recommend Proplan UT!

I use this food and mix it with the more expensive Hills CD canned urinary food. The Hills is $58 so this Purina is about $20. less for 24 cans. I mix it about 50/50 and it really helps my budget. Our cats last 2 checkups went well and he is leaving nice big urine clumps in the litter box . So i will keep mixing this with the more expensive Hills. IMO the prices of these prescription cat foods are beyond expensive and is really just nothing but outright unabashed price gouging. So mixing this $38 per case Purina with with the $58 Hills food is the cheapest most economical option I can come up with. I hope Purina does not raise the price on this pro plan food.

My boy had a blockage a few years ago and is on an Rx diet. He got bored of the wet CD and I didn't want him to exclusively eat the dry CD for fear of developing ckd. So I've tried him on other Rx wet foods but he's not too keen on any of them. However he does like the Purina urinary canned foods so he has a can each day mixed with water to increase hydration. Hopefully this will keep him healthy.

A Feline Urinary Tract Diet That Works!!!

My 1 y/o Maine Coon Cat had a complete urinary blockage on a ultra-premium grain-free kibble and canned food diet last year. Our vet had him on a very expensive

My 1 y/o Maine Coon Cat had a complete urinary blockage on a ultra-premium grain-free kibble and canned food diet last year. Our vet had him on a very expensive prescription food for about 6 months until I took the time to research alternative diets for this problem. After reading hundreds of positive reviews I decided to try the Purina Pro-Plan Urinary diet and for the past 8 months he has done great, no problems and it is affordable enough that I can let my other two male cats eat it also. I add extra water to the canned food to make certain that they are getting enough fluids, which is very important for cats.

Didn't Seem To Agree With My Cats

I usually purchase pate wet cat foods for my cats made with meat, as they digest them better than cat foods containing fake meat made of wheat gluten and soy. I ordered a case of this food when my cat was diagnosed with bladder issues after eating high phosphorous Fancy Feast pates. I found a few cans locally for my cats to try while waiting for the food to arrive from Chewy. I learned a lower phosphorous food is best for urinary and kidney health, and also best for senior cats. I also wanted to avoid fish, so this food met our requirements. I didn't try the pate forms of the urinary tract food because they contain carrageenan, which can be inflammatory, and after finally helping my cats with IBD overcome their issues, I didn't want to risk them having issues again. I also have quite a few cats with sensitive stomachs and carrageenan isn't recommended for them either. All of my cats enjoyed this food, even my incredibly picky eater, but some licked the gravy and left the fake meat pieces of wheat gluten behind. Afterwards, my cat with bladder issues vomited and some of my other cats had diarrhea after eating this. I thought it was due to the wheat gluten, but my vet said it could've been because it is a new food and they just weren't used to it. I really appreciate Chewy issuing a refund for the food. We love Chewy - they are always so helpful and kind. Thank you, Chewy! I am trying other over the counter urinary and lower phosphorous wet cat foods at the moment, but so far none of my cats have liked them as much as this one. I may try this food again in the future, as I have found it is almost impossible to find fish free wet cat foods. I only wish this food came in a pate form and that the pate varieties of this urinary food were also carrageenan free as well.

Our cat developed Urinary tract problems and had to be put on a special diet. We ordered a top speciality food that our veterinarian recommended and she would not touch it. I did independent research and found this one that was recommended for Urinary Health, checked with my vet and he approved, so we tried it and she likes it. We have had her on it for over a year now. Sophie prefers the gravy because she usually pretty much licks it off. I prefer the gravy because that makes it easy to add liquid medications and supplements to get her to eat.

I'm using the Purina Pro Plan Focus Adult Urinary Tract Health Formula Chicken Entree in Gravy Canned Cat Food to supplement and stretch the prescribed veterinary diet my now 7-year-old male cat with urinary stone issues must eat to stay well and stone free. He loves this food, and using it alternately with the prescription diet has helped my budget as well. If Merlin has anything to say about Purina Pro Plan Focus Adult Urinary Tract Health Formula Chicken Entree in Gravy Canned Cat Food, he'd give it more stars than I did.
