How many cups are in the 34 pound bag?

Answer by HoskingSep 20, 2025
A 34 lb bag of Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Adult dog food contains approximately 136 cups of kibble, assuming about 4 cups per pound. This is a general estimate, and the exact volume can vary slightly due to differences in kibble size and density. To estimate the total cups in your bag: Start with the weight of the bag: 34 pounds. Use the conversion factor of approximately 4 cups per pound. Calculate the total cups: 34 pounds * 4 cups/pound = 136 cups.

Are the kibble pieces 15 mm or less, to work with an automatic feeder?

Happy 10 year old lab and 3 yr old GSD

I began looking for another food after feeding Blue Buffalo for my dog’s lifetimes. The bad publicity coupled with my inability to find the Large Breed Adult Lamb

I began looking for another food after feeding Blue Buffalo for my dog’s lifetimes. The bad publicity coupled with my inability to find the Large Breed Adult Lamb and Rice formula finally got to me. A friend fed this formula to her white GSD who had a soft marshmallow coat so I figured I would give it a shot. How did they like it? My lab would eat literally anything (and happily does) napkins? Yes. Lettuce? Yes. Inanimate objects? Yes. Of course he loves this food. My 3 year old German Shepherd however was the pickiest eater I have ever come in to contact with. He LOVES this food. He used to run and hide and we would have to bribe him to eat his Blue Buffalo Large Breed Adult food. I once sat on the floor begging him to eat scrambled eggs after a 10 day hunger strike. Now he sits anxiously and drools while I am scooping the food in to his bowl. I actually had to purchase a slow feeder puzzle to keep him from gobbling down the entire bowl and the going to steal my lab’s food. Total turn around. Outcome: Their poops and coats were always nice when they were being fed Blue and this continues to be the case with this new food. No notices difference. The price point is much better because the bag is larger. We are happy with the switch and we will continue to be long term customers

This is the food my breeder recommended. The dog on the bag? Is the exact type of dog I have! Shipping was super fast. I have the option of changing the shipping date if I need to. Plus, add some extra items for a monthly shipment or just 1 time shipment!! I don't have to drive to get the food, lug it into a cart, to my car & in the house. Plus, its cheaper than at the store!! At $3.00/gallon for gas now? I'm definitely saving & never have to worry that I'm almost out. Definitely a huge plus for me!

Great food

I switched my Labrador retriever's good to Purina Pro Plan over the summer. He's always been very energetic, but I've always been concerned about what food to feed him. He's a lab so he mostly eats anything I put in front of him. I have found since the switch, he's got the same energy (to my detriment) but his coat is so much better and his all around energy is so much better. I highly recommend this food for your pup. As always talk to your vet, they should be able to recommend this as mine did with my buddy. I know it's crude, but his poops are much better since the switch.

The best for my GSD...

I have a 3 yr. old female German Shepherd. At 9 weeks I started her on Hills science diet. She never ate it good, so after a while I switched her to Iams, same results. I then went to Bil-Jac, same results, then Blue Buffalo, then Royal Canine. I was ready to give up. On advice from vet at Petsmart I got her a bag of Purina Pro Plan. This stuff is the BOMB. SHE LOVES IT. She is waiting at her bowl for me to fill it every time I approach it with food. She weighs 70 lbs. and is eating 4 1/2 cups a day. Never stops til her bowl is empty. The kernels are not rock hard like some dog foods and she has no issues chewing and swallowing it. I am so glad I tried Pro Plan and found the perfect food for Ginger. My only regret is not starting her on this great dog food 3 years ago.

Switched to purina pro plan from blue buffalo. Im glad i did. Blue buffalo is garbage. My dogs were throwing it up and eating grass and dirt after each meal. Its been 2 weeks now on purina with no issues. If u “love em like family and wanna feed em like family”, dont feed them blue buffalo. One of my dogs died of gastrointestinal issues and im 99% sure it was her diet but i cant prove it. Anyway, purina seems to be a great food for my dogs. I will edit this review in the next 4 weeks if anything changes.

Chewy’s ingredient list under the “nutritional information” tab is inaccurate and doesn’t match the bag I received. Chewy’s photo of the bag’s ingredient list does, however, match the bag I received. It seems that maybe Purina changed the formula (removed probiotics, added taurine and changed around the ingredient order), but didn’t bother to let anyone know. Even their own website doesn’t reflect this change, which is weird.

After trying so many different foods with "better ingredients" I finally gave PPP a try. I'm so happy I did! After 3 months on this food I see a visable improvement on how my German Shepherd moves. I tried the purina one joint+ because it looked comparable, but after 1 month we are back to Pro Plan. This is the best food for my dogs. I highly recommend it. Both of my dogs train and compete in multiple sports, and run at least 3 miles a day. They are active dogs.

My dog hadn’t been eating with enthusiasm, letting his food sit sometimes until nighttime. This was unusual for him, and I understood it as being disinterested in his grainfree food. Upon visiting the vet, she discouraged me from feeding him greainfree, temporarily, until some more research was available, as recent studies are connecting heart issues to certain grainfree products. Immediately upon switching food he is back to eating with enthusiasm, which tells me he is a happy pup!

I TO SAY THEIR QUALITY OF BEING GREAT HAS GONE DOWN HILL. Dragging a 34 pd bag at 71 wasn't t fun. Then to see it ruined was worst. But chewey did take of everything. But my hands and mouth had yuck for weeks. Don't think they cared about that.
