brought my dog back to life

I was feeding a different food to my dog since I adopted her for about 4 years. She had really started slowing down. She was sleeping all day and dragging behind me on our walks. She’s only 7-8 years old and an athletic breed (AmStaff) so I thought maybe she was older than we realized as she was an adult rescue. She was also getting very thin despite increasing her calories. I switched her to this food after the FDA report on DCM. I also had her heart checked out just to be sure- and everything there was ok and the vet found no medical reason for her slowing down but did recommend Purina Pro Plan. Let me tell you- this food brought my dog back to life! She’s back to acting like a puppy, going on long hikes with me again, running, and playing. She loves this food- I feed kibble in the morning and canned at night. Even my cats have tried eating through her bag! The change has been drastic and that made me a believer in Purina Pro Plan. Her coat had come in more full and shiny, her nose is wet and healthy where it was dry before, and she has put on muscle and maintains a lean but strong body weight. I’ll never feed her anything else!

WORTH THE PRICE (I’m poor so trust me)

My dog is a 10 yo lab mix, and we’ve been using this food for almost a year now. The immediate shift in our dogs ability to go up and down the stairs and play fetch endlessly were instantly noticeable. Due to a little financial hardship we tried a cheaper version of this briefly which resulted in itching, chewing on joints, drastically lowered her interest in physical activity (likely due to sore joints), BALDING, dull coat, borderline starving herself. We swapped back to this and the immediate shift of excitement to eat her food again, and lack of itching and aching was worth me coming to leave this review. It’s been two days and I feel so horrible for even swapping to begin with, as I’m sure she physically felt awful. It’s expensive food, but seeing my dog feel happier and healthier is worth it all the way.

My Doberman Zara, will be 10 years old next month. She’s absolutely THRIVING on this food! Shes been on it at least 3+ years, since she was about 7. As you can see, her coat is so shiny and her skin is so healthy. People can’t believe her age. She moves well too, she hasn’t slowed down a bit! She still hikes all day with me, runs, jumps, rolls, and rough houses with my other Doberman, who is 2. She’s on no supplements either, just Purina Pro Plan.

Worth the Price

I don’t make a whole lot of money but I do my best to take care of my dog. As long as I stick to my self imposed one dog/one cat rule, I can provide necessary care

I don’t make a whole lot of money but I do my best to take care of my dog. As long as I stick to my self imposed one dog/one cat rule, I can provide necessary care to my pets. I have an 11 year old chocolate Labrador with laryngeal paralysis. Because of that, she’s more vulnerable to acid reflux, not to mention she enjoys going into the backyard and digging for kitty truffles deposited by neighborhood cats. She can sit there and scratch herself with her back leg and let out a raspberry for every wobble of that leg...so I buy her this to keep my old girl in her best shape and save our noses. She enjoys the taste of this food. The kibble is small but I add warm water to it like you would ad a little milk to a bowl of cereal and she slurps it right up.

Senior dog has so much energy!

Our 30-pound senior pup (age 11) has been eating this for several months and he’s like a new dog! He’s had lots of hip and knee issues, including a hip replacement and ACL surgery. He has always eaten Taste of the Wild until the vet said he needed a senior formula. On TOTW, he would pick at the food and sometimes choose not to eat. We slowly changed over his food and wow! it changed his energy levels. He scarfs down his food twice a day and (annoyingly) kicks his bowl for more! He loves the taste! He is so much more active and spry. He even has the energy to jump up on the couch and chase his puppy brother around the backyard a few times each day. We’ve been so impressed with this food.

I have an almost 8 year old husky mix who is the PICKIEST eater in the world. I had her on call of the wild for years and always had to add something into to make her eat it, then I switched to a cheaper food and she kinda ate that...now that she is getting more mature in age, I knew it was time to find a senior dog food so she is provided with extra minerals and supplements for long term health benefits. I put this food down her in bowl and she instantly started eating it and actually ate the whole bowl in one sitting, which is an absolute miracle for this dog. She ate her dinner just the same too. It’s my first day with it so I can’t say anything other than a very picky dog actually likes this food. I look for reviews that say the same so I hope this helps someone.

My almost 12yr old Golden eats about a bag a month and shortly after this recent bag in Aug 2025 he started scratching a lot and noticed more fur on the carpet that could easily be pulled out as well. After a brushing he had more fur come out ever in 12yrs and noticed a rash around his private area. I saw something similar when Orijen changed their ingredients and didn't tell anyone and after some research it appears this happened with Purina "Pro." Which leads me to the following; Why are these companies allowed to change their ingredients and not notify consumers? These CHEAP companies always find a way at the cost of animal health. They don't care about animals and it's obvious through their quality even with the most expensive brands (e.g. Orijen)...I'm switching to a raw diet because of all these brands, life is too short and if done right it can only be better.

She’s been with me almost one month and yes, she is already spoiled. I’ve never seen a dog get more excited about a delivery. She knows the chewy box and claps her hands when she sees it Since she’s fairly new to me we are trying different foods. Meanwhile, I enjoy feeding her by hand. We’ve become very close very fast. Shaka, eight year old Rottweiler enjoys her new food. As the owner, I want the best for my pets. Since Shaka was adopted from the shelter, she has been eating ProPlan. She is healthy, strong, and beautiful! While I introduce Shaka to the new delicious food, she prefers the ProPlan Adult food over the ProPlan Large Breed. Our cat would eat Shaka's dog food, so I decided to buy ProPlan cat food for my two kitties. The kitties (Tommy and Erica) love ProPlan food too! Thank you.
