Does this food dissolve or prevent crystals?

Answer by PatriciaMar 26, 2025
Yes with a high moisture content,my male kitty has had two uti’s in the last 2 years,my vet said he needs to be on a special diet for this issue bc he will eventually have blockage bc of crystals or stones and since the other purina UR st/ox food is to expensive for me this one worked well with my other cat that had crystal problems but no issues with this food i gave her.

such a great help

My kitty Boots has urinary crystals every time he got upset. Furniture change, someone new that came in, new dog that was rescued, storm, bugs on window, you name it and he was scared and the crystals started. So with the help of my vet we have him on a system of things that work major. AND here they are. This Purina wet food, Purina dry Urinary in blue bag, Iams Urinary, cat water (yes it is called cat water and sold here on chewy)AND probiotic by pet wellness (also sold here). I also got him on CBD calm by Honest Paws. Do not know if it is sold here probably is but I got it off of Honest Paws. He gets that when I know there is a storm, someone new coming or anything that may upset him. All this stuff is not cheap, but neither is a trip to the vet for emergency help. Some times he was there two or three times in one week. Total of over One thousand dollars. So this all comes to maybe 150.00 a month but he has been ok now for about 3 months. Also Funny (yes cats name because of her markings) had hairball problems. Nothing worked. No amount of hairball food worked but the probiotic that I give Boots I also give Funny and the hairballs stopped immediately. AND I mean immediately. We had them every day two times a day or more. Now nothing. I am so happy for these products that I will never stop any of them.

FLUTD adopted cat needs quality urinary wet food. He had two major episodes before he was 2 years old, and returned to foster. We adopted him being told he had only one rx wet food to eat for the rest of his life and have gradually moved him to high protein/low ash/urinary foods, and pro plan is half the price of rx and he loves it. We were able to take him completely off rx food in the last two years. Pro Plan is great stuff!

My Kittens Love It

Our vet recommended getting our adopted kittens on a urinary care diet right now as they seem to have some Siamese traits. Finding affordable urinary care wet food that is also recommended is tough. We were told to avoid brands where it's not guaranteed that ingredients are U.S.-sourced, the food is only made in a U.S. factory, and that the company has certified veterinary dietitians on the staff. Purina, Hills Science, Iams, and Royal Canin are the companies we were told to rely on. This Beef & Liver Recipe food stinks. It isn't appealing to me at all, but my kittens love it. They eagerly eat it. They're growing quickly, and they're always eager to have their beef and liver pate.

My sweet guy struggled with FLUTD for over a year with awful episodes of pain that had him in the ER several times. Unfortunately the vets said there’s not much they can do except change his diet and manage his symptoms. Lo and behold, he has not had a single episode in the past 2 years since he started eating this food! Also have not had any issues with him getting tired of it. Would recommend to anyone struggling with a FLUTD baby!

It’s my cat’s favorite canned food . I’ve tried high-end UTI health brands, but for some reason, he refuses to eat them. If your male kitty gets urinary crystals/stones, PLEASE TAKE IT SERIOUSLY !!! If a UTI in a cat isn’t treated, it can become serious and even life-threatening. If your kitty is straining to pee, crying, or urinating outside the litter box, call your vet right away!!

So far out of this case 3 cans had dried out food with some plastic-like film over it. Have no idea what causes this but it’s very concerning. Most of the food in the can was moist with the exception of a small spoonful that was dried out with the film over it. It’s hard to explain but Chewy needs to look into it. This food is expensive and should be perfect coming out of the can

My 10y/o Siamese with a history of Urinary crystals loves this as a change from only eating more expensive Royal Canine SO. I alternate the two brands she eats both well but she goes crazy for the Purina One. Im hoping her Urinary issues do not come back with this change but if it does its job all should go well & she gets a "treat" with the beef & liver Purina too. With prices so high now days its nice to have a bit cheaper choice. Praying for good results to continue.
