Purina ONE LiveClear Allergen-Reducing Formula Chicken Flavor Dry Cat Food, 6.3-lb bag

I found this food online after researching allergen-reducing foods to feed my cat, as I am mildly allergic to most pet hair and my partner is quite allergic to cat hair (well, the saliva/dander on the hair). It is pricier than other foods, but it works wonders! After 3 weeks, my partner came to visit and felt 0 symptoms of allergies and enjoyed cuddling with the cat without sneezing or watery eyes. We use this in combination with Allerpet (applied to his fur once a week). We tried Allerpet on its own, but it is much more effective in tandem with the food -- although the food is probably well enough on its own. My cat mostly eats dry food (as approved by his vet), just due to some other health issues, and he likes this one more than the other ones we have tried. He has herpes and likely some intestinal scarring due to severe sickness and malnourishment as a little kitten, so he has a sensitive stomach and immune system, but this food has not made him sick at all. He is a pretty good water drinker, but I also sometimes add warm water to this food, which he loves as well. He gets just wet food once a week, but I put warm water with the kibble once a day as well. Even with the 6/7 days a week of this formula, it works great! I am unsure if it is because of shedding season, but he is a bit more dandruffy than usual, which I wanted to add in case other pet parents were curious about that. His dandruff is of no concern and does not bother him whatsoever. My roommate's very picky cat (who is fed almost exclusively wet food) likes to try and steal this food too! They love it!

When I first glanced at the front of the package, I thought this food was for cats with allergies. Then I realized that the purpose of the food was to make cats less allergenic to people who are allergic to cats. I had no idea that such a product existed. I am intrigued by PURINA ONE LIVECLEAR ALLERGEN-REDUCING FORMULA. However, my cat, like many cats, is finicky, so I thought I would have to gradually introduce her to the new food. But she loves chicken—which is the number one ingredient—and she immediately took a liking to LIVECLEAR. Some cats, though, may need the recommended 7-10 days to ease the transition in diet. PURINA claims that allergen reduction in cat hair and dander occurs in as little as 21 days. I have a brother-in-law who is allergic to cats. In fact, he cannot visit us in our home. I jokingly(?) told him that I want him to be my “guinea pig” for this experiment. After our cat has been on the LIVECLEAR diet for a month, I want him to come hold our cat and take some deep breaths so I can observe the results. I doubt that he will cooperate, so I will have to find someone else.
