It's good stuff! I've actually used for years before I signed on to get the sample, and here's what I like: the chickens eat it. Since they turn up their beaks at most pellet food, that's important. It's higher quality than other feed I've bought (actual pellets all the way through, not layers of dust or odd chunks of unprocessed something). Their egg shells are strong, molts don't last for months -- which have been issues in the dozen years I've had chickens. Do the chickens love it? Not like they love meal worms or the fancier henhouse reserve Chewy sells, but I count on it as the basic feed. Also I'm not sure if it's the Layena or the treats (or the henhouse reserve) I give the chickens but the yolks are more orange when I feed them this. That seems to impress people I give eggs to.

All our poultry come running when Layena is in the feed bowl. Our hens dull coat of winter is now healhy looking. They look like Spring hens again. It’s winter in KY but after a week of feeding Layena, we have noticed that egg production is starting to pick back up. That is so exciting! Our chickens, ducks and turkeys love this feed and are thriving.

This chicken layer feed is great for adult birds! 19% layer feed is most likely higher than you’re easily going to find locally. It is pellets, not crumbles, so it is not messy or dusty. The protein content in this layer feed is super important for healthy eggs with strong shells. The immunity boost is always a plus too. Putting this on auto ship ASAP! I have 6 hens who free graze and 1 ten-lb bag lasts me 8-10 days.

Loved it

Our chickens loved this! You would think chickens eat everything and anything without complaint but I can give mine a bucket of scraps and they will fish through

Our chickens loved this! You would think chickens eat everything and anything without complaint but I can give mine a bucket of scraps and they will fish through for just the apple cores. They don’t eat all food I give them but they gobbled this right up.

Chickens love this feed

We’ve tried many many chicken feeds over the past few years of owning layer chickens, both expensive and inexpensive. Our chickens love this feed and run for it

Happy Flock

I fed the chickens in a seperate feeder. They seemed to ignore it for a day or so. They have not been eating a lot with the cold weather. Egg production has decreased

My chickens had absolutely no interest in this food. They would not eat it at all. I loved that it was higher protein and figured it would be good for the colder months. I gave it to my mom and her chickens ate it without issue! I guess it just depends how picky your girls are!

The only reason I’m not giving this feed five stars is that I got it during winter when my hens aren’t laying, so I can’t rate how well it does in producing strong eggshells. Aside from that issue, I am very pleased with these pellets because, among other things, they don’t crumble into dust like many of the other brands I’ve used. I also appreciate that their main ingredients are all natural foods. Since it is eagerly devoured by my flock, I assume my hens echo my approval. Check back in the summer for a report on how well the feed performs with egg production.
