I went back and forth between a 4 and a 5 for this one and I settled on 5 stars because both cats (two males about 12 and 14 years old) LOVED these!! I don’t think there was a favorite between beef and chicken- they seemed to enjoy them both. They both ate them in one sitting which is very good because I keep changing up Bear’s (black cat) food to get him to eat more and gain weight. He has got pickier as he has got older and will frequently just nibble a little but he would gobble this up completely. The one annoying aspect was that while it said you could flip and plate, none of them worked like that. They are like the jellied canned cranberry sauce where you need to run a sharp knife around the edge to get it out. I hate washing utensils, but I decided that both cats enjoyed the food so much that this was not worth decreasing the stars.

This product looked very interesting and I specifically wanted to try it for our 17 year old Mama Cat. Mama Cat is very picky and will only eat one specific brand of food. It's been a bit of a struggle to try to entice her, and at this age she can have whatever she wants. We did try feeding her Fancy Feast Gems Mousse on three different occasions and although she very much enjoyed the gel portion at the top, the food itself was not well received. Our two adult male cats in the house get canned food as an occasional treat; they ate every morsel of it! Our young barn cat (who prefers to be outdoors only) and is regularly fed dry & canned food, very much liked this product! I could see how the consistency of this product would be very good for picky eaters or older cats. I love the concept! The packaging is super unique and it is really easy to open especially with hands that are not as nimble as they should be anymore.

Fancy feast gems were the only food my boy would eat. The mouse was easy for my 18-year-old super senior and chewy always delivered reliably. Sadly, Big Fig passed yesterday and I still have this unopened case and another half case, too. My other two cats are less finicky, but won’t eat this so now I guess I’m looking for some place to donate it. RIP Big Fig. You thought gems were so yummy!

We slowly transitioned our cat Olivia over to this food. She seemed to like it right away. The packaging is 2 pates in each pack....and then each pate is in an individual plastic cup with foil seal. They are easy to feed. I found my cat liked them to be cut up as ahe didn't like the single pate. There is a gravy on top that she really loved. I gave it 4 stars becuase she ate the gravy part better than the rest of the pate and frequently left a portion that she wouldn't finish. Overall worth trying for your cat especially if they like gravy.

We are in Scottsdale, AZ where we received the Fancy Feast Gems Mousse Pate Chicken and Beef. The product was visibly good, the cats ate it, and surprisingly, liked the beef! We have never bought, nor seen a beef product. We have 3 cats, and all ate both the chicken and the beef. Cats are finicky and they will reject food often, the smell was appetizing for them, and they finished off the servings quickly. This would be a great product for inclusion for a camping trip or other vacation activity because it is easily packed, lightweight, and the paper is biodegradable. There is no metal to recycle and, like cans, they have a long shelf life. On the downside, they are not as easy to serve. The packaging says that they just open, flip and serve. The food does not easily slide out of the container and a knife or other utensil is required to get the food on the plate. Once, the food is on the plate, it must be mixed, or the cat will just lick the jelly (where the aroma is located) off of the top and walk away. In addition, the pate is a bit thick, so it must be mixed with a teaspoon of liquid along with the jelly to make it completely edible. This is a good product, but it needs a few packaging tweaks to make it a great product. I would recommend it to friends because of the variety of flavors.

My Mr. Pickle was perplexed at first and is super picky and admittedly spoiled. Pros: He actually loved it!!! However, after rigorously licking all of the gravy off, unless I break apart the pyramid, he won't eat it. He just sits there looking at it, gazing confused. Overall the product is great in size reducing wasted food, the presentation and packaging makes it easier for me and provides a new interesting entree for Mr. Pickles. Cons: Concerning carbon footprint accuntability, statistical and or empirical accountability encompassing corprate social responsibility to all stakeholders of all systems futher paradoxical as such products corralative to joy and destroy with a slippery slope balance yet to be achieved. So it's hard to review cat food, I don't know if it's good or not.. and it doesn't help my cat is spoiled and very picky. So the starts is just because he didn't like this, not saying it's bad. Just my cat didn't eat it. However our neighbor cat that stops by enjoys them quite well.

Have been feeding Miki this for her evening meal and she loves it. She will lap up all the gravy first before digging in to the pate. She definitely prefers the chickens as it’s totally gone, as opposed to the beef, but she enjoys that one as well.

Coal is a 13 year old foster who came to me as a hospice kitty and could barely stand. She was very shaken and mostly slept. She was very skinny and I fed her for times a day as much as she’d eat. As she got stronger, she started to become more and more fussy about what she wanted to eat. I would try many different types of wet food, mostly pate. She would eat something for a while and then stop. I was worried she was getting sicker but it turns out, she was hungry just no longer wanted that food. Our local store had a sale on the fancy feast gems and she has eaten the whole thing every time! Tonight she had two! I do mix it with a little water into more like a paste which she prefers to a big chunk or slices. My only thing is that it’s very expensive at normal price for the quantity you get. I probably won’t get them unless they’re on sale.

I agree with others who said the packaging is difficult: the foil is very hard to remove and the food won't come out until you insert a knife to help. Once the food is out, my cats will only eat the gravy top, unless I change the texture. If I smash the whole cube into one pate type consistency and add some pet-appropriate chicken bone broth, they love it. I can even mix that with some other foods they occasionally snub and then they'll eat that, too. So, the little cubes turn out to be an expensive over packaged gimmick that cats don't care about, but the flavor of the gravy in smashed mousse is a hit. And it's a flavor enhancer for other food they sometimes won't eat.
