Is this food good for huskys? I recently adopted a new husky that has turned out to be quite the picky eater. I've never tried this brand before.

Answer by LeezandraDec 05, 2022
Hello, yes! I feed my husky this and he loves it… we went through a lot of different brands of food due to him being very picky, this food he absolutely loves. Huskies do naturally have a survival instinct and will not eat for a day or two as well.

This food is not all life stage. It is adult maintenance only.

I know there has been some debate regarding this product for awhile .I can only attest to MY experience. My four dogs love their Beneful, better than any other brand. Believe me, I've tried! In the winter, they enjoy a bit of home made chicken broth on it or a little bit of wet food mixed in, and they also love it plain. I have four healthy, happy dogs... ranging in age from 18 months to 14 years old and they are all Beneful dogs. The oldest is 252 pounds, and the largest is 105 pounds. Everyone is happy!

My dog Rick loves Beneful Beef, and he's been eating it for about a year and a half now with no issues. I would switch it up, but I am scared to do that because when I feed him he dives into his bowl and eats everything fast. One of the main reasons I original purchased Beneful was because it was reasonable priced and beef was listed as the #01 ingredient as it states not yellow corn etc.. I am VERY pleased with Purina Beneful, and for my dollars I feel it's one of the best! I actually tried changing brands to see if Rick would like a supposedly superior more healthy food so I purchased a bag of Rachel Ray's Nutrish Dog Food. It is not crazy expensive but around $30+ per bag and Rick would not eat it. He actually went up, sniffed it, and walked off. So back to Beneful it was and he seems very happy / eats all of his food. I'm very pleased with Beneful

I have a 12 year old lab who has dementia but no food allergies. He was hesitant to eat two other better quality dog foods he had and started to drop weight and leave food behind. Even though this food has less meat content than others the flavor of it keeps him eating the amount he needs to maintain weight and he cleans his bowl most of the time . When their seniors its kind of doing whatever works to keep them happy . I have my other dog eating this as well who is six and he enjoys it . So far no skin flare ups but he is on the wonderful VET IQ allergy supplements . So this food has been a win for both my boys .

We've tried a variety of dry dog foods, and my dog Dixie either doesn't eat it or can't keep any of it down. I had to feed her cooked meat at times, creating my own dog food for her. I was hesitant at first to start my dog on Purina Beneful Originals Dry Dog Food, but she really loves it, which makes me so happy. Finally, a dog food she likes to eat, and the best part is that she can keep her dog food down, which has resulted in her improved health. My dog's health improved significantly after only 10 days of consuming Purina Beneful Originals Dry Dog Food with Farm-Raised Beef, and I'm glad Beef is the first ingredient, but what makes me happy is that her eyes are brighter, she's stronger and more active, and she appears to be happier. I will definitely purchase this dog food again. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own. #ad

Well really it is Purina I chose. My 12 yr old Great Dane is not fond of eating and she will eat more Beneful than any other Purina product. But let me get on my soap box a minute. There are all these new brands out there that appear sooooo much more healthy. There are a lot of things that are not considered by the general public. Purina has spent 50 to 70 years researching the nutritional needs of numerous animals. Years of research and testing. How much of testing have these 'new companies done? As humans we don't want to eat any part of the chicken except the meat, but animals in the wild eat everything but the feathers. So why is 'chicken meal' bad? Corn and wheat are the things that dogs don't eat in real nature. One other thing. I was using one of these new brands and had two dogs need joint surgery (parents had no joint issues). Just happened to be talking to a large animal vet (ie a ranch community vet ) he told me that he had noticed the large dogs eating Iams and Purina were not having hip and shoulder issues and dogs eating some of the newer brands were. So I switched to Purina cause my dogs like it best. I have not had to have joint surgery since 2003. This is just my personal experience not a professional test situation, but it is enough for me to keep the faith with Purina.

This brand was not new to me, but Chewy's price was a nice surprise. Because of some arthritis, it's being delivered to my door in just 2 days was also very, very much easier for me than having to buy at the store. ALL my dog food, treats, etc. will be purchased from Chewy from now on - You had won my heart many months ago when you GAVE me a refund on treats (my dog had died) + you asked that I give the treats to a shelter, etc. rather than return them. I have told ALL my dog-owner friends of your outstanding policy regarding this and hope you have gained new customers. Your web site is one of the easiest I've ever accessed (and I do a lot on the Internet.) If you would like a more professional blog for Chewey, I am a professional author and would be happy to write a more professional (and possibly specific) blog. I won't comment on the second review you require as this one covers everything. Chewy gets 5 stars and only good words from me! Shirley Ayn Linder

I tried this on two of my pups Birdie Girl and Smiley Girl. They are my middle of the road kids. Not too picky, but not I'll eat anything you put in front of me either. They were quite pleased with it. They didn't inhale it like a Wendy's burger, but they dug in and didn't stop 'till their bowls were empty. Didn't get tired of it either, so it wasn't an it's something new eating of it. Smelled pretty good to me too. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.

Based on the recommendation of my vet (he feeds all of his dogs Beneful and nothing else) I started feeding my dog Purina Beneful and she loves it. I will only feed the Purina brand dry food to any of my animals. My dog is a picky eater (but I short, stout Staffordshire to boot) and she loves this food. I will mix it up occasionally and buy the Beneful Playful Life formula dry food as well. It’s very healthy and has great ingredients and I will never stray away from the Purina brand. I raised 2 large dogs on nothing but Purina Dog Chow all of their lives and my eldest lived to 17yrs old-she was 67lbs, and my younger lived to 16yrs old-she was a big 89lb black lab. Larger dogs unfortunately do not live as long but I attribute the Purina Dog Chow and being consistent with feeding them only this dry food to their lifespan.

Delivery driver dropped my box in the middle of my yard 25 feet from my door. Never have had this happen before what is the deal? Are they too lazy to walk up and deliver it at the door? There was no danger no dog no nothing to prevent them from doing that. Very very poor service and I’m not happy because now I have to find a neighbor to bring this into my home as I am not able to carry it. If I knew who the driver was, they could get a hold of them and make him come back and bring it up to my porch for me like they have done other times. What’s the deal?

Buy mid sized bags so it doesn't go stale

My dogs love this food for the first week after we open a bag. By the end of 2 weeks, they're losing enthusiasm. We buy the 14 lb bag instead of 30 lb to keep it

My dogs love this food for the first week after we open a bag. By the end of 2 weeks, they're losing enthusiasm. We buy the 14 lb bag instead of 30 lb to keep it at that freshly opened bag sweet spot. We also go back and forth between the lower calorie chicken flavor and the beef flavor. Great value for the quality, calorie count is reasonable, brand is reliable.
