Piggy Poo and Crew Rooting Snuffle Pig Mat, Rainbow, 18 x 20-in

My 15-year-old Sofi absolutely loves this mat! It’s our first time trying this type of toy, and even though her vision isn’t great anymore and she’s now deaf, she still gets so excited to use her little nose to find treats. It keeps her happily busy for a solid 25 minutes. Even after she’s found every last snack, she’ll keep going back to re-sniff just in case she missed one. I love seeing her so engaged, her tail starts wagging the moment I lay it down for her!

This is a great mat. Good size. Has pockets and loops for plenty of hiding places. This is the first snuffle mat I'd purchased. I was concerned that the dog would be frustrated at having to "work" instead of just eating from her bowl but she loves it. I divide her meal into her regular bowl, slow feeder bowl and the mat. My plan was to let her eat from the bowls while I hid food on the mat but she had other ideas. Waited for me to fill the mat, played with that first, then finished her meal from the bowls. She's an anxious girl, doesn't like noisy balls or puzzles so this is a wonderful alternative for her.

The cups are the best part. He loves the cups on his other snuffle mat (which is close to retirement). These have a cup within a cup! So, there's extra rooting around. Snuffle mats with this type of weave, the most common type, are great, but it's hard to keep the food hidden in between the fabric if you don't have tiny food, so the cups are a fantastic bonus that really gives him the experience he loves. I love the fun colors, I know he can't really see them, though--that's just a plus for me. :) A tip for new snuffle mats. They always come with a factory smell on them. I wash in unscented detergent with a small amount of white vinegar in the fabric softener to keep them soft. The vinegar dissipates, so it just keeps a neutral smell. I do this to clean his other mats when they get build up of food dust and grossness. He always goes right back to them.

She loves “booping for treats” and I wish we had found these mats sooner. This is the first mat we have bought from piggy poo and crew and it’s definitely the best quality so far. My dog WILL tear a few felt pieces off l, we expect that and it’s part of the fun for her. This mat is sewn really well and there’s lots of little nooks and crannies to hide things. I highly recommend if you have a dog in cognitive decline or even just a busy bodied pup.
